A Baby Raising A Villain - Chapter 3
“What do you mean by that?” When asked by Eden, the child closed the lid of his watch.
“The time you promised is over.”
“I asked what you did mean by that.”
The child did not burst into tears when asked again in a shady voice. Instead, while putting the pocket clock in Eden’s inner pocket she asked, with her skinny gaunt face.
“What do you think? Do you think you have a reason to save me now?”
“The answer to my question first…….”
Then, unannounced, a small hand broke in again.
It was as little warmth as a leaf’s hand size. But it was enough to stop all of Eden’s movements.
Tuk.
The watch fell heavily into the coat and pocket.
Eden unconsciously held his breath and hardened. He felt strange. An unknown & unfamiliar danger that could not be defined made the child instinctively wary.
“Don’t touch me again without permission, peanuts.”
He shook his hand quite coldly.
An average child would cry, which is strange. The child laughed like a spring flower.
“I’m not a peanut.”
Eden looked at the child.
The child also looked at Eden.
The blue eyes that fold into the half-moon were warm.
“My name is Luna.”
“……I never asked.”
“I don’t have a last name. So you can just call me Luna.”
The voice of the child, who was babbling regardless, hovered in his ears.
What a nuisance she is.
He thought so but didn’t interrupt the child.
“Don’t you usually intwoduce yourself at times like this?”
“Well, it’s all right. I already know who Cwount is. I’m a precognitive dream baby.”
“How could that be?”
Whether Eden snorted or not, the child continued happily.
“LionHeart. Cwont Eden LionHeart, right?”
The child laughed. The sunlight that came in through the window scattered over the white, gaunt face in full bloom.
Eden caught sight of a picturesque moment as if possessed.
“…..who said you could call me by my name.”
“tch. You won’t let me do anything.”
He didn’t hate to see her pouting her lips. It was a strange kid indeed.
He was lost in thought, but soon felt a sign of someone approaching and turned his eyes away. Richard, who returned from patrolling, was seen through the wagon window.
knock, knock
After a short knock, the carriage door opened.
“Your Excellency.”
“Just get to the point.”
“There are several people gathered nearby. Maybe they’re looking for that kid…..” Richard stopped talking and glanced at the child. At the same time, Eden’s gaze shifted to the child. “I’m glad you seem to hate it.”
“I thought I told you that if you said useless things, it would be engraved on the tombstone.”
“But, sir,” Richard thrust his face close. “What’s wrong with your expression?”
“What?”
“Why are you smiling so uncharacteristically?”
When did I.
Eden, who was trying to ask, realized that the corners of his mouth had risen sligntly before he knew it. He quickly turned his head the other way.
“You’re being noisy.”
“I spoke in a very small voice.”
“If you say one more word…….” A ferocious voice scattered through the air, unfinished. Instead, a small child was left in Richard’s hands. “Send it back to where it was.”
Oops. (or more like huh, look at this expression)
Richard’s eyes grew.
“Are you really going to send her back like this?”
If it was the usual Count, he would have handled it quietly or intimidate it so that there would be no trouble. But I can’t believe you’re letting her go this smoothly. Eden did not answer the gaze of countless questions.
Instead, Eden added,
“Put a chestnut mouse on it. There’s something I need to check.” (he’s asking him to put someone to monitor her)
This rather sparked Richard’s curiosity about the child.
“Bye, Cwount Heart”
After greeting them steadily, the scent of grass from the child gradually faded away. Eden couldn’t take his eyes off the little back for a long time.
“Luna.”
It was a secret that no one could tell that he had recited her name without realizing it.
I followed Richard across the Prima Forest to the nursery.
“I’ll see you next time, then, child.”
Richard disappeared before the others came. I expected him to lurk somewhere overnight.
‘We’ve overcome the urgent crisis.’
Maybe it was because she was nervous about her solo performance with Eden, the world’s strongest villain. (she was referring to how she lied when she was alone with the count)
As soon as I entered my room, my legs gave up, and I fell sitting down.
“Luna!”
I heard a familiar voice. It was Noah who was chasing me like a gummy bear.
“Are you hurt anywhere?” He ran up and asked.
“I’m not hurt anywhere.”
“Let me see.”
“It’s all right.”
“It’s because I’m not alright.”
Looking at the serious look on his face, I realized the situation that was facing me again.
Noah Dillian
‘Yeah, you’re here.’
He is the main character of this novel, my childhood friend, and the reason why my life is in danger. There’s only one reason I’m a scapegoat.
‘Because I’m Noah’s first love.’
A passage from the novel came to my mind.
<The world wanted him to be unhappy. That’s why everything he loved had to die. >
My hot head cooled down. Even the fact that I’ll be dead. And the fact that I was possessed in a novel that I read before I died……. What quickly became resolute in all these ridiculous situations may be the survival instinct of the person who stands before the crossroads of life and death.
“Luna, I’m sorry. I couldn’t help you prepare for the play.”
“Today was the day I went to the temple with the sisters.
“Still,”
“You came safely without getting hurt, so that’s fine.”
“Prima Forest is dangerous to go around alone. You would have been in trouble if you had encountered an undomesticated male.”
Noah grabbed the hem of her clothes with a careful touch as if touching something precious.
“Anyway, you can prepare for playing house with me from now on. Got it?”
“Yes.”
“Promise.”
We hung our little fingers on each other.
“To make the New Year’s wish together tomorrow…”… You didn’t forget, did you?
“Yeah, we’re going to do Happy New Year together.”
The Eden Empire has a tradition of making wishes by having fireworks with family at midnight, which passes from the last day of each year to the New Year’s Day.
“I didn’t know it would be my deathbed until a few minutes ago.’
When the main character Noah turns 6 years old, a big fire breaks out in the nursery where he lived.
Noah is the only survivor.
In other words, 1, of course with all of our orphanage families, die,
It’s not an accident that happened by accident.
It’s all his fault.”
The fist clenched itself.
“Don’t worry, Luna. Nothing like today will ever happen again. I’ll protect you from now
on.
“Yeah, we’ll be fine.”
I’m sure I’ll make it that way.
Pushing aside her fears, she arranged the plan.
“The cause of the fire is the defect of fireworks. So I need to check the firecrackers first.
“Where are you going, Luna?”
“Follow me, Nyoa.”
He headed for the stairs with her.
As the youngest child of the orphanage, I often found out that nursery supplies were stored in underground warehouses thanks to my errands. With Noah, I slouched down the stairs. The sisters was upstairs to prepare for the other children’s beds. The warehouse door was not locked separately.
As soon as I entered the warehouse that smelled like mould, I found a box containing firecrackers.
“Here it is.”
I counted the number of firecrackers straight away.
“Five in total.”
As the orphanage centre did not have enough finances, it seemed that this was the only expensive firecrackers they had purchased.
“It’s a relief.”
The traditional firecrackers, long like straws, were thin and thin enough to break easily even with the power of a child.
“Why do you have firecrackers all of a sudden?”
Tuk
At Noah’s question, I suddenly grabbed the end of the firecracker with both hands and broke it.
“Luna!”
His eyes grew as big as a rabbit, genuinely surprised. I broke the second firecracker without stopping
Tuk.
As I tried to break the rest of the firecrackers, Noah grabbed my hand and held it.
“Luna, you can’t play with this. The ones that are already broken…….”
Noah continued, picking up the broken firecrackers that fell on the floor.
“I’ll tell the sisters I broke it by mistake. So give it to me quickly.”
Noah, who is so kind as a fool. Why are you getting in trouble instead?
I shook my head hiding the fireworks in my hand behind my back.
“I dwon’t want to.”
Noah finally stepped back from my stubbornness.
“Then tell me why. That way, I’ll take your side when the sister asks.”
“There’s going to be a big fire today.”
“Did Tom scare you with weird words again?”
Noah’s evebrows crumpled in uncommon fashion. Tom, unlike Noah, was a mischievous child who played a mischievous trick on girls.
“It’s not like that. It’s a defective product, so it’s catch on fire.”
Tuk.
I broke the third firecracker and picked up the fourth.
At the same time, Noah defended the last remaining fifth firecracker safely.
“How did you know it was a defective product?”
“Someone told me.”
“Who?”
“Secret.”
“…..is that so?”
He shrugged his shoulders and kept silent. Now is the time to save my words, so I didn’t have to say anything about the situation.
“Luna, it’s not a cheap firecracker, it’s worth lots of money, so it’s magically secure.”
Noah, who is a span taller than me, put the last firecracker on a shelf beyond my reach.
It didn’t matter anyway.
I was going to leave one.
“Are you really not going to tell me?”*
“What?”
“The one who lied to you that this was a defective product.”
“Yes.”
“I’m about to get a little upset.” He pouted his lower lip.
“Nyoah is the one who didn’t believe me first?”
Did he feel a little guilty? I poked his forehead which was with a dazed look,
“….I’m sorry.”
“Will you believe me now?”
Instead of answering, he took back the last firecracker he had put on the shelf and handed it to me.
“I dwont need that.”
Noah’s purplish pupils shook like an earthquake at my refusal. I feel sorry for making that face, but I can’t help it.
“Because a fire must happen.’
Only then can I prove to Eden that everything I say was true.
‘But unlike the original, it will make no one die.’
All the firecrackers were broken with only one left to minimize damage from the fire.
“I’d like to ask you a favour instead.”
“What is it?” His eyes were alive again.
“If there’s a fire and someone gets hurt, Nyoah will have to gwive them the treatment.”
“How do I do that?”
“Grab your hand like this and make a wish not to hurt.” I held his hand, recalling the passage I saw in the novel.
‘The day Noah turned 20.’ He awaken like this, probably?’
Recalling her thoughts, she demonstrated to him, and his body hardened.
“…you know, Luna.”
“What?”
Noah’s cheeks were red when he looked up inadvertently,
‘Wait a minute, this….
He closed his eyes tightly. Lips getting closer and shoulders shaking slightly. It was obviously the first love moment. It was a scene that I really liked when I was a reader. Knowing the fixed fate, I couldn’t just be excited. For me, the label “the main character’s first love” is like a death flag
“What do I do?”
About to panic, I could hear something falling from the corner of the warehouse at the right time.
“2”
Thud. Roll
Small round objects rolled in front of my feet.
“……an acorn?”
It was an unusual shape.
I slowly shifted my gaze to where the acorn rolled. At the end of it, a squirrel was looking at us with its mouth wide open, holding both cheeks.
“Where did he come in?”
Noah was wary of squirrels, erasing his regretful expression.
“The window must have bween open.”
“Stand back, I’ll catch it.”
He slipped out the water mill in the cabinet.
Due to the long history of war with the beastkin, the perception of animals in the Eden Empire was not very good.
Is he trying to beat him up?
He began to spin the millstone.
!”
Seeing the spinning stone, the squirrel stepped back in surprise.
And at that moment I discovered.
“What?”
a noble family seal carved on the sides of an acorn
It was obviously familiar to the eye.
‘That’s…’
I saw it dozens of times more, so I could quickly recognize the squirrel’s identity.
“Eden’s Night Mouse!”
I immediately blocked Noah in front.
“Wait a minute, Nyoa.”
