A Consensual Marriage - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
“I won’t do anything that might get in your way. So, please believe me and let’s get married.”
She looked at him with eyes as black as the midnight sky, clear and undisturbed.
“Damn it.’
Min-hyuk bit his lower lip.
When his father told him not to do anything to ruin the meeting, his plan was to get the other party to break off the deal. He was confident that he could bring an immature 20-year-old down easily, but Yoon Sae-ee broke his expectations and his plan completely.
He’s tried almost everything and she still wasn’t backing down, but that wasn’t a problem. He still has one more method to use.
“I’m sorry but,”
Min-hyuk got up from his seat. He regretted not using this method from the very beginning.
“No matter how many conditions you give, I have no intention of getting married to you, Miss Yoon.”
He spoke in a cold tone.
“If you want to get married this badly, then find yourself a different man.”
At the end of his speech, he turned around and headed for the exit. He didn’t know why but each step he took felt heavy and since he exited the cafe without looking back, he had no idea what kind of face Yoon Sae-ee was making.
****************
Sae-ee’s house.
The whole family was sitting on a long table having dinner.
Sae-ee wordlessly placed some food in her mouth. She couldn’t taste anything and was eating just because it was time to eat.
Sitting opposite to her was her brother Chan-woo, and next to him was her mother Mi-yeon, and her father Tae-shik was sitting at the head of the table solemnly eating.
Having the whole family gather like this was a rare thing, and Sae-ee was just plain uncomfortable. She wanted to finish her plain food and leave.
It was when her plate was half empty that Tae-shik opened his mouth and spoke.
“It looks like it didn’t go well with you and son-in-law Seo.”
His words caused Sae-ee to pause and hold her breath. It looks like somebody already reported the happenings of today’s afternoon meeting with Min-hyuk.
The people sitting opposite to her were glancing at her waiting for any reaction.
Sae-ee answered in a composed tone.
“….. Yes. That’s what happened.” “I desired to have him as a son-in-law. Well, that’s disappointing.”
Sae-ee was also disappointed. If she was forced to marry someone her family wanted, then out of all of them, she thought that getting married to Min-hyuk would be a good option.
Then again, even if it’s not Min-hyuk, as long as she can escape this hell of a life….she was fine with getting married to anybody.
Chan-woo, after cutting a big piece of his juicy steak and placing it into his mouth, smacked his lips and butted into the conversation and spoke in a louder voice.
“By son-in-law Seo, you mean district attorney* Seo?”
TL/N: District attorney = Prosecuting attorney.
“Why are you trying to send our Sae-ee to such a family? There are lots of other well off families that you can send her to.”
TL/N: I present to you Chan-woo, another piece of trash, ladies and gentlemen. -:
Hearing her son’s words, Mi-yeon glared at him trying to make him stop, however Chan-woo who didn’t even have a grain of sense kept going.
As soon as she heard her son’s words, Mi-yeon glared at him in an attempt to make him shut his mouth. However, Chan-woo, who didn’t even have a grain of sense, kept going.
“There are so many rumors about that jerk Seo Min-hyuk being such a prick. He treats all the rich people who are working earnestly like fools, trying to find any fault in them so he can prosecute them.”
Tae-shik spoke solemnly.
“Prosecutor Seo is just doing his part of work for the country, there’s nothing wrong with that.”
“Do you know how many of my friends were about to go to jail because of prosecutor Seo?”
“I know, and that’s why I wanted to get him on our side.”
Tae-shik’s eyes became hard after he spoke that sentence.
“Father, it doesn’t have to be prosecutor Seo. A long time ago, that punk…..”
“Enough. Let’s stop talking about prosecutor Seo.”
Tae-shik moved his attention towards Sae-ee.
“Sae-ee, you shouldn’t let this get to you, I’ll look for another husband for you.”
After saying this, he continued eating, and everybody else resumed eating as well. No conversation was made until the end of the meal.

After dinner, Sae-ee headed straight to her room.
Her room was located in the corner of the second floor. It was a small room. Unlike the fancy and glamorous estate, her room was the plainest among all of the rooms in the estate.
On her way to the room, she noticed Chan-woo standing in the corner. When she tried to pass by him, he grabbed her wrist tightly.
……..
Sae-ee came to a halt. She used her arm strength to break free from his grip and glared at him.
“What the heck are you doing?”
Chan-woo, unaffected, replied.
“I wonder why prosecutor Seo refused my sister like that?”
With a sly smile making its way on his face, he continued.
“When my sister is this pretty and lovable.”
Chan-woo’s eyes wandered lower, passing over Sae-ee’s luscious lips, her white neck, and her prominent collarbones. Goosebumps rose all over her body when she felt his disgusting gaze.
He moved closer to her, so that there was no more space left between them.
“It’s true that guys prefer young girls, but they don’t like immature girls. Guys prefer young girls who feel mature.”
TL/N: Barf.
His eyes flashed with excitement as he looked at his sister.
“I think my sister is lacking a little maturity… it’s because you still haven’t experienced a guy yet.”
Chan-woo tangled his finger into Sae-ee’s brown hair and asked slowly.
“Should this big brother help you with that?”
Sae-ee’s eyes hardened. This wasn’t the first time this happened. She used all her strength to push Chan-woo who was twice her size, off her.
“Remove your hands off of my body.”
“Does that include your hair too?”
“I said take your hands off of me.”
At her words, Chan-woo smiled and came even closer.
“O- I’m so scared. You think you’ll scare me if you look at me like that?”
At that moment, footsteps coming near the second floor could be heard. It was the housemaid.
Hearing a sound, Chan-woo moved away a little. He looked at the maid, then at his sister.
“This brother was just messing with you, no need to make such a face.”
“……………..
“You must be tired from meeting that bastard, go to your room and rest.”
Still smiling slyly, Chan-woo turned and moved towards the stairs. The moment he was out of sight, Sae-ee entered her room and slammed the door shut. Only after locking her door did she let out a sigh of relief.
She was trying so hard not to appear weak in front of Chan-woo that her body became rigged. Leaning on the door, she scanned the plain room that was given to her in this large estate. A room that was hers, but one that she never felt safe in.
A room with only a bed and some furniture. A room that felt more like a prison.
She wanted to escape from this place as soon as she could, else she felt like she would die out of suffocation.
Water clouded her vision.
She buried her face in between her legs.
“Somebody, anybody….please take me away from here.’
