Chapter 27 Looking at the Stars
The busy tone of the phone rang. Huo Ru stood there for a long time without moving.
She did not expect their argument to end with her father’s concession. She had always been an unfilial daughter and had always done all sorts of unorthodox things and made her father pay for them again and again.
“I’ve embarrassed myself in front of you. My father and I always quarrel.” Huo Ru pretended that nothing had happened and even smiled beautifully at Yun Feng. “I’ve never been the daughter who made him
proud.”
When Yun Feng saw this, he felt his heart break. His young lady didn’t want much, she only wanted to do what she liked and stay with the person she liked. It wasn’t much, but why was fate so stingy? It couldn’t be that he didn’t want to give her anything!
“Do you want to talk to me about it?” Yun Feng looked gently into her sad eyes.
It would have been better if he hadn’t asked. As soon as he did, Huo Ru immediately burst into tears. She never cried even if she fell alone because she knew that no one would care. Once someone did, a tidal wave of sadness flooded her.
“Sob… I… I’m fine… Sob…” Huo Ru sobbed.
Yun Feng did not force her anymore. Instead, he gently pulled her into his arms.
She had always been able to hide her emotions well. No one would care anyway.
However, Yun Feng was hugging her now, as if telling her that all the grievances in the past were fine. He would always stand behind her in the future.
Five years of feelings had come to nothing. Not only did her father not understand, he even forced her to marry a stranger she was completely unwilling to marry. Her pride and will as a human became the least important thing
She had been prepared to fight everyone from the beginning, including Yun Feng.
But now that Yun Feng was hugging her, his body smelled of sunlight and grass, as if he was trying to remove all the sorrow in her body.
Sometimes, she felt like a sheep filled with rainwater, falling to the ground and struggling to survive until Yun Feng found her and helped her wring the water from her body before giving her a warm hug. Huo Ru hugged his waist tightly and cried until she was out of breath.
Her tears filled the fabric of Yun Feng’s chest. It was so hot.
“It’s okay, it’s okay,” he comforted awkwardly.
Seeing him coax her clumsily with a domineering face, Huo Ru smiled through her tears. She buried her head in Yun Feng’s chest and said in a muffled voice, “You’re so funny.”
“There’s no need to pretend in front of me, Huo Ru.” He was strong, and he picked her up and sat her on the sofa with just a casual push. “I won’t examine you or criticize you. I’ll be with you forever, so there’s no need to pretend in front of me.”
He was almost praying for the dependence and closeness of this panicked little rabbit.
Huo Ru didn’t say anything. She wrapped her arms around Yun Feng’s neck and buried her head in his arms.
She never revealed her scars or weaknesses outside, this was the survival principle of weak animals. Once they were exposed, they would be at risk of being preyed on at any time. However, she still did not hesitate to cry hysterically in front of the man she had only known for a few days.
The man waited patiently for her to stop crying. He helped her wipe her tears and said, “Shall we go look at the stars together?”
Because of this, the two of them drove towards the mountain in the middle of the night. Unlike what Huo Ru had imagined, Yun Feng actually drove the car to a beautiful small villa and stopped.
“I… I rented this. I come here every time I’m in a bad mood.” Yun Feng led her in. There were two recliners on the wide balcony, and Huo Ru lay on them.
This was the first time she was so close to the sky, every star on it was glowing brightly. As long as she reached out, she could embrace them all.
“Are you going to look through the telescope?” Yun Feng took out the telescope from somewhere and waved at Huo Ru.
He held her in his arms and carefully explained some of the common planets and constellations to her.
“Every star in the sky is unique, and every star has its own light. You’re the same, you’re amazing to be brave enough to do what you want.”
Huo Ru turned to look at Yun Feng. His eyes were so gentle, reflecting the stars in the sky. No one had ever praised her so much.
When the two of them returned to their room to sleep after midnight, Huo Ru pulled Yun Feng back.
