Crazy for Flowers - Chapter 4
On one side of my face, my bangs went down to my eyebrows. I was wearing round glasses and I planned to put a wig and freckles on my face. Her name was Rossi Dufran, a common name without any nobility.
On the other side of my face, was Dorothy Den Lupaspin. A girl who looks cool with light brown eyes and wavy hair.
To become a maid in the Nerunastan mansion, skills were required. The place where Alicia, the goddess lived, only the finest maids were employed.
Also, since she was a young energetic person, Dorothy believed that she could make it. Since I was young, I’ve been doing chores and part-time jobs that made me sick and tired of cleaning.
In addition to building up her skills as a maid, Dorothy planned to gradually build up her career as a journalist.
Dorothy was an enthusiastic reader who read 『Crazy for Flowers』 a dozen times. She hated the heroine, but she was a person who cherished the other characters one by one. She knew when and where each scandal was and if people would write about it.
The code name included winter in it, and the reason was because Dorothy’s and Aru Han’s birthday were in winter.
Still, the place with the most information and rumors are at the young lady’s tea party. Although she did not go out to gather high-ranking nobles like Alicia, Dorothy planned to occasionally show her face at the tea party of the earl’s young children after announcing the reporter’s name.
Exactly 8 months later, Dorothy was able to be hired as a maid in the Nerunastan mansion, at the age of 19.
* * *
It was the day I started working as Alicia’s maid. I was called Rossi, not Dorothy.
A clumsy wig with bangs that covered half of their face, a foundation that darkened their skin color, round glasses that hid their slim nose, and freckles around their nose and cheeks.
I was ready.
Approaching Alicia’s mansion, it seemed to be one of the most luxurious mansions for a young lady. If it wasn’t enough to put gold on the wall, there were also some on the chandeliers and paintings.
Realizing more than half of these might’ve been gifts, Dorothy bit her lips.
How much did this all cost? Alicia was a woman who was sick with good luck, but she was too sick. This made Dorothy’s commitment to reveal Alicia’s real identity more.
“Rossi!”
Dorothy became alert again when she heard the voice of the maid calling her. Since she was awoken from deep thoughts, she replied more vigorously than usual.
“Yes!”
“In three hours or less, wipe all the windows on the west side of the mansion. Make sure there’s no dust.”
Dorothy took busy steps. Three hours was not much time to work. Especially for her, who has two jobs. So Dorothy arrived on the west side of the mansion and wiped the window hard so that there wasn’t any dust left behind.
Two hours later, the windows were shiny, as if they were rewards of Dorothy’s hard work.
After completing her first task in the mansion, Dorothy sank to the floor. This was because her legs were tired, but this wasn’t the time to do this.
She hesitated and jumped up to her feet. It was time for the real mission, the real reason for entering the house, and for Winter Justice!
In the past few months, winter justice has succeeded in gaining huge popularity. The article on Alicia has not yet been written, but the secrets and scandals have been a huge hit, and no one knows who winter is.
There were several people who tried to find them, but there was no trace of them left. No one could tell if it was a man or a woman or even how old they were.
Because there was no contact with anyone.
When I wrote, I sent it to the newspaper company that was owned by the royal family.
Now that her name was getting popular, she was ready to catch a big scoop about Alicia.
The current time is 11 o’clock on a Monday. It was an extremely stressful day for Alicia. One hour was left. Dorothy began to move quickly after dusting off her apron to read a map of this place and find Alicia’s room.
‘Ah, another dead end? Where the hell is Alicia’s room?’
Even if the house was meant to be big, it was just too big. Dorothy frowned when she hit a wall and not another hallway.
It was already the third time that she faced a dead end. She sighed and turned around to find a different path.
“Who’s there?”
Oh my gosh. Dorothy pupils widened. Who was it? Dorothy tried to calm down and adjusted her fake wig in case she had to run. She slowly turned around.
No one was there.
There was no one on my left and right sides. Not even cats or dogs. Dorothy held her arm that was filled with goosebumps and stepped back cautiously.
Was it an auditory hallucination? I heard an auditory hallucination. It had to be auditory hallucinations.
Dorothy tried to not think about it too much. I heard nothing but an auditory hallucination. The same voice then rang into the hallway as I was about to leave.
“I asked who you were. Why aren’t you answering?”
Dorothy’s forehead was sweaty when she heard a loud but cold voice. Once again, she stared at the place where she could hear the voice was coming from, but there was no one there.
Am I going crazy? Yes you’re going crazy. I’m finally going crazy.
Life has been rough for a long time. Even though she had part-time jobs, she fell asleep late every day when she returned home. Because of her busy days, she couldn’t even taste her lovely chocolate chip cookies, strawberry ice creams, nor cakes.
I need a break. By the time she finished her pledge to fill the fallen party, a man appeared before Dorothy. (t/n the fallen party is her desserts that she need to eat)
He had a face and atmosphere that would match ice. The man had dark indigo hair and dark gray eyes. There was a typhoon in his eyes.
An intense and fierce typhoon.
There was a cold atmosphere around him. It was so cold that Dorothy couldn’t get close to him. His atmosphere was almost the opposite from Vessel’s.
Who the hell is he? This was too confusing.
He was handsome and he had a noticeable atmosphere, but he didn’t exist in my memory. Still, it would be weird to see someone so handsome as a side character. It didn’t make sense.
The man’s eyes wriggled annoyingly. A voice mixed with irritation fell on Dorothy.
“I’ll ask one more time, so answer me. Who are you?”
If I stayed silent, then I would be harmed. Dorothy replied quickly.
“Hello, my name is Rossi Dufran. Today was my time serving Nerunastan.”
Looking at his clothes, it looked like he was a noble, but looking at his actions and manners, it looked like he had a commoner background.
I couldn’t manage that man raising his voice or bowing to another noble. If so, is he perhaps someone with a high ranking title?
The unanswered question stayed in place.
“Why is a maid so deep in this mansion?”
“I’m so bad at directions that I’ve been wandering around, Mister. I’m really sorry for the inconvenience.”
Dorothy bowed her head deeply. The man wanted to investigate her for a bit longer, but he just walked past her.
When the sound of the man’s footsteps disappeared, Dorothy collapsed onto the floor. On her knees, she thought it was lucky that she was alive.
Dorothy quickly got up. Ten minutes later, she was in the kitchen receiving her next tasks. For now, it was almost impossible to create free time due to her lack of stamina.
Where the hell is she? The frustrated Dorothy mumbled, leading a weary step.
“Or maybe it’s because I’m not a man, so I can’t find Alicia’s room.”
If you were a handsome guy, then maybe you could be in Alicia’s room and be entangled with her.
Dorothy put her chin in the air and said that her gender was the problem. Still, if she were a man, she’d be a pretty good looking one.
Dorothy carefully looked at her face in the mirror next to her. A slim nose and smooth plump lips. It would be natural that I’d look like a squid next to Alicia, but she wasn’t ugly. She was rather pretty…
Clink.
She heard a sound of a plate breaking not too far away. Her intuition was kicking in.
Alicia, you crazy b****h! And, it may be a scoop!
“Yes!”
As she walked to the sound she heard earlier, she was able to arrive in a room that exuded a luxurious atmosphere at first sight.
Apparently, Alicia was in a very bad mood right now, so she’s throwing things. Dorothy looked forward to an interesting stage.
Before entering, Dorothy imagined a strawberry cake to cheer her up. The chewy strawberries on top of the whipped cream. And soft bread that’s been baked warm. Her power pumped up.
Completely prepared for her heart, Dorothy took out a silver ring and wig from the secret pocket inside her maid outfit.
I took off the bangs wig and replaced it with the blond wig I just took out. After confirming that it was properly worn, Dorothy put on her glasses again, and finally put on the reporter’s weapon, a ring with a camera.
This ring is difficult to explain. It looks like a normal ring even though it has the function of a camera, and it is an impressive treasure with its embedded sapphire jewel.
It was a mysterious ring that can clearly capture the hidden scenery without a flash.
It’s quite easy to use. If you press the sapphire jewel briefly, you can take a picture, and if you press it a little longer, you can see the picture taken by the jewel hovering as a screen.
If you lower the screen in the air, the picture will be printed and can be deleted if it is raised. This is called magic, not science. Wizards no longer exist in this world, so treasure with magic was very rare.
