Devil’s Music - Chapter 4

“All right. It’s not good for me to stay in the human world for long anyways, so I’ll share with you. However, I also need you to promise me something.”
Paymon cracked a smile at Gamagin’s earnest words.
“Don’t interfere with the child’s life. If anything bad happens because of the demons’ actions, step in immediately. Is that what you meant?”
Gamagin laughed and nodded.
“We must have some sort of telepathic connection, huh? So what do you say?”
“That’s the conditions I expected. I’d also be offended if a devil with lesser status interfered in my things.I won’t do anything, but I can’t guarantee that about the devil monarchs. You know that, don’t you?” – he said, relaxedly petting his sheep.
Gamagin’s expression hardened.
“Of course. I’m not asking you to break Lucifer’s laws, don’t get me wrong.”
Paymon nodded.
“All right. I’ll give him my voice.”
He put his hand on Geon’s head.
“I, Paymon, ruler of the West of hell, let my voice dwell in the soul of this child.”
Blood-red energy flowed from Paymon’s hand into Geon as he fell even deeper into his sleep. Paymon quickly checked if the energy had been absorbed properly and turned around to face Gamagin.
“My work here is done. Who are you going to summon for help next?”
“No one for now. If the four-year old child shows exceptional singing talent, he will grab everyone’s attention. Scientists might try to study his brain. However, since singing is an innate talent, no one will suspect anything. That’s why I summoned you.”
“Oh, so you want to add it on bit by bit… In that case, I suspect you’ll call on Purson next.”
Purson.
The twentieth of the 72 monarchs of hell. He was a muscular devil, the father of guardian spirits, with the head of a lion and body of a bear, blowing a trumpet with a snake in one hand. He often appears in the human world as a cute little boy, but he was originally an angel. He ran the 22 corps of hell and was an expert of composing music.
Gamagin shook his head.
“No, the blessing that Purson can give the child is the ability to compose. Wouldn’t it be suspicious for a four-year old to compose music? I’m going to teach him to play an instrument..”
“Instruments… Are you going to ask Amdusias then?”
Gamagin approached the sleeping child.
“Yes. I’ll have to arrange with Amdusias before I can talk to Purson. Of course, even without their cooperation, your voice is already a big contribution.”
Paymon nodded pensively. Gamagin had come much more prepared than he would have assumed.
“So only my blessing for now?”
Gamagin patted Geon’s head.
“I must also give my blessing if we don’t want him to be suspicious.”
He looked down at the child.
“I, great Marquis of Hell, command to have the devil’s beautiful appearance and the ability to learn any learning in this child’s body and soul..”
Unlike Paymon’s energy, Gamagin’s grey energy made the boy thrash around on the couch.
Nothing in particular changed – the effect would take place as he grew up, becoming more and more beautiful.
“Good, he’s still a small body, so I have some energy left over. Gosh, it will be fun to see human women fall in love with him…”
“Indeed it will. I have one concern, though. He won’t have the innocent looks of an angel, he’ll be deadly and sexy. I’m afraid he’ll get caught in what humans call a… slaughter, was it?”
Gamagin laughed.
“What kind of path will he take, and how will he get involved in that slaughtering you mentioned… This will be interesting to watch!”
Paymon’s expression also lightened up.
“I see. You’re right, that will be one of the many fun things we’ll witness, won’t it?”
“Yeah, it will be a nice little distraction from your boring life. After all, you have a hobby of watching humans just like I do.”, he said and patted Paymon on the back.
“Let’s get out of here, then. Baal or Marvas will get in the way if they find out about this.”
The two slowly disappeared.
The house filled up with colour again, and the sound of the music, vacuum, and Yeong-ha’s humming could be heard.
Gamagin’s faint whispering sounded above Geon.
“My blessed child. You shouldn’t remember me.
You are still too small and weak to fully contain my energy.
I’ll always be watching you. The day you break out of your shell and sing, the mana generated will be enough to send me back to heaven. I will pay you back with an even greater compensation.”
