Splendor Moon Flowing Scar was not a fool. The trio immediately knew how impressive the Hunter was when they saw him slaying the elite Wild Wolf by himself. It did not make sense for such an impressive Player to give the boulder up so easily.
It was obvious that the Hunter was aware of some secret settings when it came to grinding monsters. He was treating them as fools and using them to test out the settings!
The furious trio was about to question Chen Mo, but they immediately came to a stop.
Something unusual took place in the Wolf Valley.
Huge flames suddenly erupted from the ground in the spacious Wolf Valley, as if the ground had melted. Something was appearing from the ground!
Chen Mo had just picked up the loot of the elite Wild Wolf. He was taken by surprise when he saw the flames rising under his feet.
What’s happening?
Boom!
Before Chen Mo realized what was going on, an enormous monster appeared as the flames dissipated!
“What…what’s that…a Wild Wolf with three heads?” the Magician beside Splendor Moon Flowing Scar stammered.
“Three-Headed Fiery Wolf! It’s…It’s a Boss! We are going to make a fortune if we can kill it!” the Archer blurted out in excitement when he took a closer look at the monster’s name.
Splendor Moon Flowing Scar was astounded. However, he soon wore a grim face.
There was no chance the three of them could defeat the Boss. They could not care less who would eventually slay the Boss either.
“Three-Headed Fiery Wolf!” Chen Mo stared at the Boss in astonishment.
Three-Headed Fiery Wolf, the Boss-level monster that spawned all of a sudden was engulfed in raging flames. Each of its giant heads had icy eyes burning in different colors. Its muscular body seemed to contain endless power.
System Notification: The secret criteria have been met. The Hidden Boss, Three-Headed Fiery Wolf has appeared. The Wolf Valley is now dominated by the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf. The rules of the area have changed!
Hidden boss? The rules of the area have changed?
Chen Mo was dumbfounded. What exactly did he do that caused the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf to spawn?
None of it made any sense. It was still reasonable if the elite Wild Wolf had spawned because of the Special Hatred that the trio had been stacking up. However, Chen Mo struggled to believe that he was the reason that the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf had spawned!
Little did Chen Mo, apart from the instance of the Wolf Valley he was in, a Three-Headed Fiery Wolf had spawned in every instance of the Wolf Valley too!
Chen Mo did not have time to think about it. The Three-Headed Fiery Wolf already had its eyes on Chen Mo. It soon charged at him with fierce flames.
Chen Mo barely dodged the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf’s slam. However, the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf was different than the other monsters he had encountered in the Rookie Village. Its head with burning blue eyes suddenly turned around with its mouth open. It spat out blue flames in Chen Mo’s direction.
Chen Mo had no chance of dodging it. The blue flames dealt 3000 damage to him as soon as he was caught by the flames. He died instantly!
Chen Mo was not the only Player that was killed instantly by the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf. The Players in other instances of the Wolf Valley had all fallen victim to the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf. Not a single Player could survive for more than an attack from the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf!
More Players were making their way to the Wolf Valley as the System Notification had aroused their curiosity. They were overjoyed when they learned a Hidden Boss had spawned. They tried to form a huge party to take out the Hidden Boss, but they soon realized their attacks could not even penetrate the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf’s defense. Their number did not really make a difference, as they all ended up dying still.
The Rookie Village was bustling with discussions when the Hidden Boss—Three-Headed Fiery Wolf—appeared. However, the discussions slowly came to an end a few hours later when the Players realized it was impossible to kill the Hidden Boss.
When Chen Mo was resurrected in the town, the whole place was bustling with noise. Every Player was discussing the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf. Chen Mo was curious about the reason why the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf had spawned. He went offline to take a look on the forum.
Chen Mo learned that apart from the instance of Wolf Valley he was in, the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf had also appeared in every other instance of the Wolf Valley too.
He checked the time when the Hidden Boss had spawned. It seemed like the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf had spawned at the same time in every instance.
Chen Mo was now convinced that he was not the one that caused the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf to spawn. There must be several criteria that had to be met for the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf to spawn. However, since there were so many instances of the Wolf Valley, the Players would unknowingly fulfill the criteria when they were grinding the Wild Wolves, thus the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf had spawned eventually.
Many Players had come up with different speculations on the Hidden Boss. Someone suggested that if a Three-Headed Fiery Wolf died in any instance, the Three-Headed Fiery Wolves in the other instances would disappear too. The Three-Headed Fiery Wolf could only be killed once.
Many Players agreed with the speculation. Chen Mo too thought the speculation was quite convincing, considering how the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf had spawned in every instance.
Therefore, the Hidden Boss had become extremely valuable. Several guilds had expressed their determination to kill the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf. They were planning to make a name of themselves by killing the Hidden Boss.
There were many people that shared the same thoughts as Splendor Moon Flowing Scar. If they could become famous in Genesis, they would be able to make a name for their guild.
There were lots of guilds in China, but not one of them dared to say how high their guild could reach in Genesis. Everyone had the same starting line, hence they were all trying to take the lead.
There was no easier way to make a name for a guild than being the first guild that killed a Boss monster!
In addition to the guilds, many experienced Players were contemplating if they should try to kill the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf too, resulting in fierce competition.
Meanwhile, Chen Mo had no interest in killing the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf whatsoever. He was only curious about the secret criteria that triggered the spawning of the Hidden Boss, but it seemed like he would never find the answers.
Chen Mo logged back into the game. It was a pity for him that the Wolf Valley was now dominated by the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf. His experience bar was currently sitting at 50% after killing the elite Wild Wolf. If only the Three-Headed Fiery Wolf showed up later…
Chen Mo decided to find another place to grind levels, but first, he should take a look at the loot he acquired from the elite Wild Wolf.
Even though it felt like Chen Mo had gotten some nice drops from killing the elite Wild Wolf, he did not have high hopes after taking the drop rates that the game had so far into consideration.
It was just as he had expected. The majority of the loot from killing the elite Wild Wolf was copper. He had acquired 130 copper. In addition to it, there were five Low-level HP potions that could heal a Player by 100, and recover 20 HP every second for 10 seconds.
The only piece of equipment from the loot was a pair of Wild Wolf Leggings with a level requirement of 5. It had a +8 to Physical Defense to the Player equipping it. However, the Wild Wolf Leggings were Blue Equipment, slightly better than the White Equipment. It also had a +3 Constitution which was equal to 60 HP. It was not bad for a piece of defensive equipment.
Chen Mo put on the Wild Wolf Leggings and left Aiur Town. He discovered that most of the higher level Players had gone to the Wolf Valley to get in on the action. He went back to Aiur Town and accepted a few quests.
Now was the best time to complete the quests since not many Players would be around to compete for the monsters. Leveling up by completing quests was quite efficient too. After all, it was unlikely he could use the same trick of grinding monsters on a boulder like he did in the Wolf Valley.
There was still slightly over two hours before midnight. Chen Mo spent more than an hour completing some quests. The Players that went to the Wolf Valley to join in the fun finally went back to doing the quests and grinding levels. However, Chen Mo was already Level 7, leading the majority of the Players. There were not many Players competing for the monsters he needed for the quests he was doing.
It was the advantage of having a lead in Level. It explained why many Players were trying to gain a lead in Level as soon as they entered the game.
Chen Mo continued to do his quests. He had reached Level 9 when it was finally midnight.
The difference between Level 9 and 10 was not that significant. Chen Mo headed for Aiur Town for the quest “The Tryst”.
