“This is great! I can do it!” Wang Hao’s eyes sparkled! Every cloud had a silver lining! That game planning assistant position back there had clearly been a failure; who would have thought he would be able to find such a suitable position here?!
“Oh, are you serious?” The man was a bit surprised that Wang Hao would agree without a second thought. “Think about it. This is just a temporary job; we can’t offer you a full-time position afterward, and the salary isn’t high.”
Generally, people wanted a permanent job and a steady income.
That was the reason why nobody wanted a temporary job, especially when this man made it clear that the salary wasn’t very high. If their previous employee quit because he wasn’t satisfied with the salary, then it had to be really low.
Why would Wang Hao care about that? What he needed was just a stepping stone — a low salary wasn’t a problem.
“No problem!” Wang Hao said, “Getting a job is better than staying at home and relying on my parents, isn’t it? If you agree, can I take this position?” Wang Hao suddenly paused, then said quietly, “But… well, I don’t have a high level of education. I graduated from a diploma mill. Look…”
Wang Hao knew he couldn’t fake his education background, so he had to be honest about it. If not, he could get kicked out later on, and everything would just be a flash in the pan.
“Hm, low education level?” The man frowned and thought for a second. He looked at Wang Hao and said, “That truly is a problem.” He was so bored sitting here, and when all was said and done, it was such a small position. He could reject Wang Hao, but he wouldn’t be able to leave yet. Or, he could hire Wang Hao, who seemed inclined to do anything, but whose education level wasn’t high enough.
The man hesitated, took a sip of water, then said, “Since you seem motivated, how about this? I’ll give you one minute to introduce yourself. If I like it, I’ll hire you. What do you think?”
Is this an interview?
Wang Hao was definitely nervous. Only one minute! If he screwed this up, it wouldn’t be so easy to find another perfect fit.
So, he started racking his brain over how to market himself.
Nothing came to mind after thinking for a while. All of a sudden, however, he had a brainwave. That’s it!
“Well…” Wang Hao prepared himself and began slowly. “In general, employees resign for different reasons, but only two are the truest: First, the salary is low. Second, they feel aggrieved. These can be summed up in one sentence: They aren’t happy about the job.”
“Pfft —!!!” The man spurted water; he hadn’t expected Wang Hao to say that.
Does this kid even want the job? How dare he say that in front of the HR Director…
The man was a bit angry at first, but then, Wang Hao said something that made him laugh —
Wang Hao smiled and said, “I don’t mind a low salary, as long as I get paid!”
This b*stard!
The man didn’t know what to say. He looked into Wang Hao’s eyes, then smacked his thigh. “Alright, you’re hired!”
“Really?!” Wang Hao was exhilarated. “You mean, I passed?!”
“Hahaha.” Seeing Wang Hao’s expression, the man also felt happy. “Kid, what you said was kind of insightful. That’s settled! You’ll work for two months, 2400 yuan per month. Is that alright?”
“No problem, no problem!” Wang Hao nodded. “So, can I sign the contract now? When do you want me to start?”
“Yes.” The man took out a contract, wrote “2400” in the salary section, then handed it to Wang Hao. “Have a look. If there aren’t any problems, you can sign here.”
“Okay, let me see.” Wang Hao read through the contract, which looked fine to him. He signed it right away.
“You’re quick.” The man smiled as he signed the contract. Wang Hao took a little peek. His name was Zhang Ningzhi; he had to be from the company’s HR.
After putting away the contract, Zhang Ningzhi gave Wang Hao a “Lighting Assistant” card and said, “Today is Saturday. Go home and get ready; you start on Monday. The team is at World Studios. Show them your card once you get there.” He pondered and continued, “By the way, if we’re lacking actors, we might need you to play a walk-on part. Be prepared.”
A walk-on part would be easy to play, and would satisfy Wang Hao’s small interest in acting, so he agreed immediately. “Deal! I’ll go back and prepare myself.”
“Okay, best of luck!”
“Thank you.”
Wang Hao left the Talent Market, threw his head back, and laughed. “Everything went well today! Hurray!”
Damn, I still remember that f*cking dog which chased me. Wait for me, I’m coming for you!
Wang Hao headed for the park and beelined for the spot where he had seen the dog, and searched for a while. There you are!
“Aww…” The dog used to be so fierce, but now, it whimpered and crouched down like a little girl the moment it saw Wang Hao. How could anyone bully a dog with such a pitiful face??
Wang Hao felt dispirited; it seemed that there was little hope for revenge!
Fine, you poor thing, I’ll show you some mercy today. Wait here, I’ll buy you a sausage!
Wang Hao trotted off to the supermarket in the park, got a sausage, and tossed it to the dog. “Although you chased me to death yesterday, I’m feeling pleased right now. This is for you; you’re welcome!”
“Aww…” The dog whimpered and finished the sausage in a few bites. It wagged its tail and ran up to Wang Hao to grab hold of his trousers.
“F*ck, that’s how you repay me?” Wang Hao was about to reason with it, but before he knew it, the dog started dragging him down the road!
“What’s going on?” The dog was so strong, and Wang Hao found himself led some ten meters away. When the dog finally let him go, Wang Hao looked around. “Are you going to murder me here?”
“Woof, woof!” The dog barked at a bush.
Wang Hao looked, and a shiny thing in the bush caught his eye at that moment.
It was a phone: Apple’s latest Rose Gold iPhone 6S!
