Dragon Hermit - Chapter 80
Chapter 80, Won’t You Pay Me Even 100¥?
“I believe even in Daoist Techniques, so why can’t I believe in vampires?”
“You’re right!” Zhang Shufen said, “Vampires don’t amount to much, I can kill those scums of darkness in several seconds with my Fifth Lightning Method.”
“Are you serious?”
“I’m absolutely serious!”
“Then can you help me?”
“Go ahead and say… Wait, did you really run into vampires?” Zhang Shufen got wary and asked in surprise.
“My friend ran into them…” Xia Yan recounted the whole sequence of events to her, and he obviously informed her only of Daoist Desireless’ positive side.
“Do you want me to protect those three girls?” Upon listening to him, Zhang Shufen was silent for a while before raising another question.
“That’s right, I’m afraid that the two remaining vampires will assault them,” Xia Yan said.
“What will I get out of this?” Zhang Shufen asked.
“What?” Xia Yan said. He was quite startled!
“You won’t make me work for free, will you?” Zhang Shufen said.
“I assumed that our friendship was already beyond all material benefits…” Xia Yan said in a sad tone.
“Get lost! If there is no money at stake, our friendship will end here,” Zhang Shufen shouted.
“But I have no money, and those girls also don’t have a dime,” Xia Yan said.
“You do have 100¥, don’t you?”
“What?”
“I said 100¥, won’t you give me even 100¥?” Zhang Shufen said.
“You want only 100¥?” Xia Yan asked in surprise.
“Actually, I don’t mind working for free for a friend, but this is my first business deal and it will be a bad omen to do it for free. I will take 100¥ for the taxi fare as a token of your appreciation. Next time, it won’t be so cheap and you still owe me a favor and it will be difficult for you to return it later,” Zhang Shufen explained.
“If you have any demand someday, then I’m at your call,” Xia Yan vowed.
“Pah, which ‘someday’? It doesn’t sound good,” Zhang Shufen spat and asked, “By the way, you have a big business deal waiting for me, don’t you?”
“There will surely be one,” Xia Yan said decisively. He couldn’t help but think of the Liu family, if Zhang Shufen was really as skilled as she claimed, then he could introduce her to the Liu family and he would get to satisfy both sides’ wishes.
“Fine, wait for me, I’m going over there right away and you will have to introduce them to me. I’m hanging up now,” Zhang Shufen said spiritedly.
“Wait!” Xia Yan called her quickly.
“What else is there?” Zhang Shufen said impatiently.
“Don’t tell them it’s me who asked you to seek them, just tell them it’s a black-clothed man that invited you, fine?” Xia Yan said after he gave this matter some consideration.
“A black-clothed man?” Zhang Shufen got curious over this.
“This… I’ll explain it to you later, but please don’t tell them that it’s me who asked this of you,” Xia Yan got a headache. Hiding his identity was really troublesome, and he couldn’t help but wonder how TV Series superheroes achieved this easily.
“Fine! In any case, you are my employer and I’ll heed your instructions. I’ll surely question you in detail next time we meet,” Zhang Shufen curbed her curiosity and agreed readily.
Xia Yan continued pacing in front of the building for a while before he summoned the skeleton soldier and wore its magic robe. Soon after, he collected the skeleton into the Horcrux and cast the Vampiric Curse upon himself and climbed up to room 504’s balcony like last time, and sneaked into the room.
“Who is it?” Xia Yan’s landing alerted the girls, who were still chatting up to this hour, and An Xiaoru shouted in a sharp voice.
After Xia Yan opened the balcony’s door and went inside, he lowered his head to avoid the lamp’s light.
“Ah!” Xiaoyu cried in alarm.
“Xiaoyu, shut up!” Anna said.
Xiaoyu listened to her and quickly covered her mouth.
An Xiaoru jumped up from the bed and picked up a broom from a corner of the room and waved it at Xia Yan’s face.
“Who are you?” Anna wasn’t too panicky and she sized up Xia Yan skeptically. It was like she was trying to confirm something.
Xia Yan took out his Soul Storage Horcrux and held it in his hand. He showed it to the girls.
“What is this?” An Xiaoru asked in confusion.
Anna’s eyes lit up and delight appeared on her face. “You… You are that day’s masked man, aren’t you?”
“It’s me.” Xia Yan nodded. He spoke deliberately in a rough and low voice to avoid getting recognized by the girls.
In response, all of the girls jumped up.
“It’s you who defeated Ouija divination Board’s monster on that day and saved us, aren’t you?” Xiaoyu asked in delight.
“That’s right.” Xia Yan nodded.
“You are our savior!”
“A hero!”
The girls cried out in surprise and delight which really satisfied Xia Yan’s vanity.
“Who are you?” Anna asked again.
Xia Yan shook his head and didn’t reply.
“Why did you molest my butt on that day?” Anna asked again
Xia Yan started sweating profusely, but he still kept his calm. At this moment, An Xiaoru’s face got quite flushed.
“You are in danger,” Xia Yan said and hit the nail on the head. He didn’t continue wasting his breath with them because he was afraid that the cunning Anna would get some critical info off him.
“What kind of danger?” An Xiaoru blurted out.
“Are you talking about the vampires?” Anna furrowed her brows and asked, “How do you know that we have run into vampires?”
“It’s because I was chasing after them and I have witnessed everything that occurred today,” Xia Yan had already made up a clear plan and convenient excuses and he lied fluently.
“I have seen that Caucasian vampire leaving tracking marks on your bodies, and you are his next prey. But, it’s a pity that he’s too cunning and I didn’t get to catch him, or else, you won’t have to suffer any danger,” Xia Yan sighed and said.
“Tracking marks?” The girls were surprised and Xiaoyu said shyly, “We have already bathed and changed our clothes so we have already washed off the marks.”
[You took a bath and changed your clothes?]
Xia Yan’s imagination ran wild. His head had been lowered since he entered so the girls didn’t get to see his face, while he also didn’t get to see them. He could only see the ground and their legs, and this was why he didn’t see the girls’ current outfits.
He couldn’t help but think of the alluring scenery he saw last time he visited room 504, but since the girls didn’t show off any embarrassment, they were most likely properly clothed.
He really found it a pity, but he didn’t linger on this and said, “He has left marks in your bodies and bathing won’t get rid of it.”
“Then what should we do?” The girls asked.
“That vampire will surely come over, but it’s unknown when he will come. I can’t turn a blind eye to this and you need a bodyguard,” Xia Yan said.
“A bodyguard?”The girls said at the same time with a strange tone, while An Xiaoru said openly, “This is the girls’ dormitory and it won’t be appropriate to have a bodyguard here.”
[They misunderstood my intentions!]
Xia Yan sweated profusely and explained, “I sought a friend that will come over to protect you, and she’s also a student of Sihe University.”
“Ah!” The girls heaved a sigh of relief, but An Xiaoru still found it a pity and said, “I assumed that it’s you who will protect us personally.”
“Xiaoru, are you in heat?” Upon learning that someone was in charge of their protection, the girls relaxed, and Anna started teasing An Xiaoru as usual.
“Get lost! Nothing good comes out of your mouth,” An Xiaoru pushed her with a flushed face.
