- Chapter 66-2 - Escaping the Archduke of the North’s Obsession Chapter 66-2
“The Demon King was sensitive every time he heard your name,” Ifrit said as she glanced up at Isabella’s name in the sky.
“He was sensitive to my name?”
“I called out your name out loud when I told you to run away then. After that incident, the Demon King got worse. The madman forced me to summon you again by torturing me in various ways. I refused to do it because I didn’t know what he would do to you once you got here. I managed to survive, but in the end, the Demon Lord had brought you here himself.”
Come to think of it.
Descartes had treated her like a stranger when Ifrit summoned her here first.
Isabella and Descartes had never met, so they couldn’t have known what each other looked like.
Was Descartes waiting for a woman he didn’t even know after seeing those cheering words floating in the sky?
What a strange man!
“How do we get out of here?”
They could see a small faint barrier sparkling from a distance, but it was difficult to escape the Demon King’s fortress when his castle was perched on top of a cliff.
Isabella’s shoulders hurt so bad at the moment while Ifrit grew large, red wings on her back suddenly.
“I’m going to fly. For once, don’t tell me….”
“Where are you going?” Descartes’ cool voice came from behind.
Shocked, Ifrit and Isabella stiffened before looking over their shoulders.
Ifrit scowled when she saw Descartes, the Demon King, standing there.
Isabella hurried into Ifrit’s arms.
She didn’t want to be captured by Descartes like this.
Ifrit flapped her wings in desperation, but a rope made of ice had stretched out In front of them before it tied them together.
“This isn’t fun, Isabella. Come on. I just got you. Why are you running away from me?” Descartes’ cool hand caressed Isabella’s face.
Isabella glared at the large hand that touched her cheek.
“You’re not going anywhere, Isabella. You have to be with me forever. You’re the only one who can stay with me. You are a gift from the Heavens.”
He said as he pointed at her name outside the window, floating in the sky.
“Wake up, Demon King. There’s no such thing as God in this world. If you had a mind of your own, you wouldn’t have isolated yourself like this. You’re the one who’s strong enough to get out of here, but you haven’t even thought about it. And I’m not a thing. It’s not my responsibility to save you from your demons. I don’t want to stay with you forever.”
Of course, Descartes, who had lived in isolation, simply did not understand her.
Fourteen-year-old Young Master Kyle seemed wiser than this madman who lived for over 1,500 years.
The Demon King did not deserve her respect despite his old age.
She spoke whatever she wanted to tell him without holding herself back.
Offended, the large hand that clutched her cheek lowered before Descartes grabbed her chin roughly.
“You want to get away from me, huh? Try it if you can. No matter what you do, you can’t get out of here. So you might as well conform to the fate that’s meant for you.” Descartes growled as he brought his face close to hers.
Isabella tried to turn her head sideways, but it was hard to beat Descartes’s strength when his hand around her jaw tightened.
She kicked Descartes in the leg as he stood in front of her.
The ice rope didn’t tie her feet.
That was why she could still move her legs around.
“You are boring me, Demon King.”
Descartes glowered at her fiercely as he backed away from her kick.
“Listen, Isabella. I will let that slide because I find you cute for trying. But, if you keep acting like that–”
Ifrit’s lower body froze, starting from her toes, legs, and thighs.
Isabella’s blue eyes trembled as she watched what he had done.
“—you’ll lose your only companion.”
Isabella shook her head vigorously as she watched Ifrit’s waist turn to ice.
“Please stop! What the hell’s wrong with you?”
“Just say you’ll be there for me, Isabella. Then your companion will be safe.”
She didn’t want to say it, but she couldn’t afford to lose Ifrit.
Isabella closed her eyes in resignation.
Her necklace emitted such an intense light that it almost blinded all of them.
Isabella’s eyes widened when she saw Duke Kyar standing in front of her, breathing hard.
“Your Highness!” Isabella called him shakily in disbelief.
How did he manage to get here?
