Chapter 39 High-Grade Treasure Artifact!
After returning to the Dao Sect in the Heavenly Domain, Su’en activated his Energy Suppression Disc. Then he took out the huge sword Obelisk.
The weapon was too big. It was taller than his entire body when upright. How was he supposed to wield it in battle, dragging it around using the strength of his True Qi?
After studying the sword for a while, Su’en found nothing unusual about it. It was just an ordinary high-grade spirit artifact with no distinctive features.
Su’en had wanted to drip blood onto the weapon to activate it, but thought better of it. Weapons with the level of spirit artifacts were usually imbued with spirituality. If he succeeded in activating the sword with a drop of blood, it would repel other users even after the blood had been cleaned away. Unless he, the owner of the blade, was dead.
After circling Obelisk a few times, Su’en narrowed his eyes. Something about this sword didn’t feel right. He made a wild guess: Could it be that the sword itself was subpar, but the opportunity resided inside of it?
After a moment’s thought, he decided the idea was plausible. After all, Obelisk was so big that it didn’t look like a sword. Instead, it looked like a sword case containing a weapon.
That line of thought led to another, and Su’en took out the low-grade treasure artifact he had just bought-Evergreen-and held it in his hand.
Obelisk was made of a very hard material, but it was only a spirit artifact. Evergreen was a treasure artifact.
He dripped a bead of blood from his fingertip onto Evergreen. He needed to bind the blade with his blood and successfully activate the power of the treasure artifact.
The blade vibrated briefly, made a sound, then quickly absorbed Su’en’s blood.
For a moment, Su’en felt a connection to Evergreen. It felt natural in his hand, as if the sword were a part of his body he could wield at will.
After the recognition was complete, Su’en injected his True Qi into the blade. Light poured from Evergreen, as if it had come alive. It made for a strange scene.
Su’en grabbed Evergreen and slashed at Obelisk with all his might. The sound of weapons clashing rang out as cracks appeared across Obelisk.
“Of course a sword forged from diamond rock would be able to block an attack from a treasure artifact.” Su’en was a little taken aback, but he continued to slash at Obelisk.
There was a sharp crack as Obelisk finally shattered.
“I knew it! What I was looking for is hidden inside!” Su’en’s eyes widened.
Inside the now-broken Obelisk was a sword case. It was black from head to toe, but it emitted a white light.
“A hidden trick. Interesting!” Su’en took out the concealed sword case and opened it. However, he had only opened the case a fraction when two completely different auras burst out of it: a wave of heat and cold. Unprepared, Su’en felt as if his entire body was being torn apart. He hurriedly circulated his True Qi to suppress the two auras.
“Treasure artifacts!”
Su’en was ecstatic. 200,000 medium-grade spirit stones for two treasure artifacts-what an excellent deal!
Only a treasure artifact could emit such power!
After calming down, Su’en opened the sword case. Two blades lay inside: one blue, one red. The blue blade kept radiating cold air; it was obvious that it was an ice-attribute treasure artifact. As for the red blade, flames danced along its surface. A fire-attribute treasure artifact, then.
“Both are high-grade artifacts!”
Again, Su’en’s eyes widened in disbelief at the sight of three stones on each blade. These strange stones with special properties were extremely powerful; only the material of the weapons was hard enough to withstand their power. Such materials were in short supply, which was why treasure artifacts were so much more expensive than spirit artifacts. The number of stones each grade of spirit artifact could accommodate were as follows: one for low-grade artifacts; two for medium-grade artifacts; three for high-grade artifacts!
The price of a high-grade treasure artifact was almost ten times that of a low-grade treasure artifact. In other words, the Dao Sect now had a valuable treasure artifact!
“That purchase was truly a win!” Su’en looked at the two long swords in the sword case with blazing eyes.
Names were inscribed on both swords: Icicle and Inferno.
If Wang Changlin knew that there were two high-grade treasure artifacts hidden in Obelisk, he would probably want to beat Su’en to death. The value of high-grade treasure artifacts far exceeded low-grade ones. Even if Wang Changlin sold dozens of low-grade treasure artifacts, he would still fall short of the profit from a high-grade treasure artifact.
“These two swords are both high-grade treasure artifacts. If I give them both away, I should be able to obtain a compensation of equivalent value.”
At the thought, Su’en tightened his grip on the sword case. The value of a high-grade treasure artifact was unimaginable, and the two blades came with more than five special stones in total.
“As long as it triggers a hundredfold Critical Compensation…”
Su’en’s breaths grew rapid and shallow. In the Heavenly Domain, there were all kinds of weapons: mortal artifacts, spirit artifacts, treasure artifacts, great artifacts, holy artifacts, and divine artifacts. One level above treasure artifacts were great artifacts, a type of supernatural weapon that could control the weather and suppress other weapons. Even in the Heavenly Domain, only the high-level sects and some powerful sects had them-for now, at least.
At the Heavenly Domain’s height of power, the various sects had all had their own great artifacts. However, as time passed, most of these great artifacts had disappeared, either due to war or because the cycle of inheritance had been broken.
“Best that I wait until tomorrow. Ye Lingyun is in seclusion now, and Chen Ziling is probably working on her cultivation too.”
Su’en was tempted to give away the two treasure artifacts immediately, but after looking out the window at the sky, he thought better of it. There was no need to rush, as long as he gave them away eventually.
With that in mind, Su’en swallowed a Divine Spirit Pill and began his cultivation.
In this world, cultivators didn’t need sleep to rejuvenate themselves, since their cultivation helped them do just that. However, this only applied to those who cultivated True Qi; body-tempering cultivators still required sufficient sleep to ensure the subsistence of their bodies. If body-tempering cultivators didn’t get adequate sleep, then their painstaking efforts to cultivate their flesh and blood would probably be in vain. In the end, the losses would outweigh the gains.
If Su’en cultivated True Qi and body-tempering cultivation techniques at the same time, he could boost the vitality of his flesh and blood using his cultivation of True Qi. Therefore, sleep wasn’t a necessity for people who cultivated both types of techniques-Su’en being one of them.
He simply sat on the bed and allowed the Divine Spirit Pill to aid in his cultivation. Once the pill’s medicinal power was completely absorbed, he would open his eyes and consume another one.
