Chapter 40 Ye Lingyun in Disbelief!
The next morning dawned in a stretch of bright sky, breaking the silent darkness with streams of sunlight throughout the Heavenly Domain.
Su’en pushed the door open and stretched. After sensing his current cultivation level, he glanced at his Energy Sea, where both his Golden Core and Sword Embryo were floating safely. However, his Golden Core had grown slightly.
With the help of the Divine Spirit Pill, his cultivation level had increased significantly in just one night. At this rate, it wouldn’t be long before he broke through to a higher realm again!
“What a lovely day!”
Su’en strode out of the courtyard with a smile plastered on his face. There was only one thing on his mind: giving away the two treasure artifacts in his hands as soon as possible.
After arriving in front of Chen Ziling’s courtyard, Su’en used his divine sense to sense where she was and found that she was in seclusion, still holding the Return to One Sword Technique in her hand.
“Since she’s so engrossed in her cultivation, I shouldn’t disturb her!”
Seeing his junior hard at work, Su’en nodded and gave a smile of approval at her diligence. Not only was she talented, she took her cultivation seriously, too. He had only given her the technique yesterday, but she was already cultivating it. Not bad. He was pleased by Chen Ziling.
“Maybe there is hope for the future of the Dao Sect!”
Su’en let out an impassioned sigh and left for Ye Lingyun’s courtyard. As he walked, he wondered: what if Ye Lingyun was also in seclusion? If he couldn’t give away the treasure artifacts, how would he obtain the Critical Compensation for the weapons? It wouldn’t do!
Still in thought, Su’en promptly arrived at Ye Lingyun’s courtyard door. He was about to knock, then considered that if Ye Lingyun was truly in seclusion, it was ultimately better not to disturb her.
Just as he was about to leave, the door opened. Two gazes met in surprise.
“Senior?” Ye Lingyun sounded a little caught off-guard, but he could tell that she was happy to see him.
“Looks like your seclusion is over,” Su’en said with a smile.
“Yes, I encountered some difficulties while cultivating my sword techniques. I was about to look for you, and it turned out you were outside my door.” Ye Lingyun blinked, the smile on her pretty face made even more radiant by the morning sun.
Su’en couldn’t help but be entranced. He suddenly realized that his junior seemed to have become lovelier. Shaking his head, he pushed the thoughts aside and got to the matter at hand.
“I went to the Weapon Refining Sect yesterday and obtained a few weapons. Since you’ve been using a low-grade spirit artifact, I thought that I could give one to you,” he said.
“Why don’t you come in, Senior? It would be embarrassing if the other disciples saw you standing at my door.” Ye Lingyun asked, still smiling.
“Alright!” Su’en nodded and went inside.
“Would you like any refreshments, Senior?” Ye Lingyun had plenty of refreshments for guests at the ready, which wouldn’t have been the case in the past.
“Sure, anything is fine.” Su’en sat in a circular chair in the middle of the courtyard.
“Okay!” Ye Lingyun set about brewing a pot of spirit tea with a soothing fragrance.
Su’en took a sip of the tea and found its flavor rather pleasant. “When did you learn to make tea?”
“I’ve been in seclusion recently, but I stopped halfway. When I encounter a challenge I can’t resolve, I temporarily direct my mental energy to other things,” Ye Lingyun said softly. “Making tea is a simple activity that can ease one’s worries. It just so happens that it gives me something to serve you should you drop by, Senior. Or if I have nothing else to repay you with after you bestow another gift on me.”
Hearing Ye Lingyun’s words, Su’en felt a little embarrassed. Her guess was spot-on! Every time he came over, he would leave immediately after passing his gift to her, since there was no need to stay.
“You don’t have to worry about repaying me,” Su’en said quietly. “These items belong to the Dao Sect. You’re as entitled to them as I am.”
Ye Lingyun didn’t believe a word of Su’en’s. If these items were truly property of the Dao Sect, how could they be so precious?
Her senior was such a mystery-periodically producing valuable gifts out of nowhere. If they weren’t pills, they were cultivation techniques. Today, he had brought weapons with him-of what grade, she didn’t know.
While Ye Lingyun was in contemplation, Su’en held out the sword case. When he opened the case, a faint light surrounded it, and two completely different auras suddenly poured forth. If Su’en hadn’t anticipated this, the effects would have been even more earth-shaking.
“These are treasure artifacts!”
Ye Lingyun’s jaw dropped slightly, and her hand flew to her mouth, eyes filled with disbelief. Although treasure artifacts were not that rare, they were very precious. In the Dao Sect, only her master had such a sword, and it had been inherited from prior generations.
“High-grade treasure artifacts, to be precise!” Su’en smiled and pointed at the hilts of both weapons, where three special stones were embedded, looking unassuming. Ye Lingyun’s brain had suddenly ceased to function. If they were low-grade treasure artifacts, she might be able to accept them. Although the Dao Sect’s financial resources were limited, a few low-grade treasure artifacts were well within their means of purchase. But these were high-grade treasure artifacts-not one, but two of them! The whole of the sect’s finances might not be able to cover the cost of one.
Ye Lingyun struggled to swallow the spit congested in her throat before looking at Su’en. The light emitted by the treasure artifacts in the sword case was so intense that for a moment, she couldn’t see his face clearly. Bathed in radiant light, Su’en seemed so tall, so otherworldly.
“One is named Icicle, the other Inferno. They have ice attributes and fire attributes respectively. As you cultivate the Divine Lightning Sword Technique, you can try using Icicle’s ice attributes too.”
Su’en closed the sword case containing the treasure artifacts and placed it in front of Ye Lingyun. “Chen Ziling is only at the Foundation Establishment Realm. She can’t release her True Qi yet, so these treasure artifacts won’t be of much use to her now. So I’m leaving them with you, and when she breaks through to the Crystallization Realm, you can pass her the other weapon!”
If not for Chen Ziling, Su’en would definitely have chosen to give both treasure artifacts to Ye Lingyun. But now, Chen Ziling had joined the Dao Sect, and her talent and grasp of cultivation techniques meant she was qualified to wield a treasure artifact of her own.
“Okay!” Ye Lingyun accepted the case, her heart still filled with shock.
Amongst her birth family, high-grade treasure artifacts were so precious that only the most senior were qualified to use them.
And she was holding two right now!
