Cling, clang…
The thunderous roar of operating machinery echoed through the valley.
An Wen was operating a small excavator to excavate the soil at the valley’s entrance.
Every 10 seconds, the excavator was able to dig a deep trench that was one cubic meter in size.
An Wen had been digging for more than two hours.
The opening of the valley was already filled with piles of soil, and a foundation had been dug out that was 10 meters long, five meters wide, and two meters deep.
There was no questioning why An Wen knew how to operate an excavator.
Every man at one point had an excavator model or toy when they were young.
An Wen was no exception, but the excavator toy he had was of the imported variety.
Every kid would envision themself operating large excavators when they grew up.
However, the reality was that when each person grew up, there were other jobs that they could do, and no one would end up operating excavators.
An Wen certainly did not need to operate excavators as his livelihood either; however, he did actually decide to learn how to operate one.
There was no point questioning why he wanted to learn; the answer was that he was wealthy and could afford to be wilful.
As such, An Wen was currently able to operate the excavator and excavate the trench. He did not feel exhausted, and was very much enjoying himself.
Operating an excavator was, after all, his childhood dream.
“Ring ring ring…”
More than half an hour later, the alarm on An Wen’s mobile phone suddenly sounded.
“Eh… It’s already five o’clock? Time passed so quickly.”
Hearing the sound of the alarm, An Wen picked up his mobile phone to check the time, quickly realizing that it was already five o’clock.
An Wen didn’t notice that time was passing by so quickly, possibly because he was having a whale of a time.
It had been too long since he last operated an excavator.
Climbing down the excavator, An Wen looked down at the fruits of his labor from the past two hours. Seeing his progress he was immediately extremely satisfied.
“At this rate, I should be able to finish excavating the foundation in half a month. I would then take another week to fill the base with rock. After that, I’ll position the reinforced concrete components, and all of the work should be completed in about a month.”
An Wen calculated an estimate of when he would finish the construction work, and was satisfied with his progress.
Walking over to the bathroom, An Wen started taking a bath.
Ever since he noticed that the bathroom had attributes, An Wen would take baths three times a day – once in the day, once in the afternoon, and once at night.
As for its effects…
Well, the benefits were evident – An Wen’s skin became more radiant rather than tanning, even though he worked under the scorching sun every day.
However, such effects would only be granted in the other world, and not on Earth.
If An Wen set up a spa establishment that charged customers a hundred thousand yuan for each visit, most women would still be more than willing to give him the money.
Unfortunately, while the things in the other world could still be used in the real world, they would lose their special attributes.
After his bath, An Wen returned home and prepared to eat.
Just as he was changing his clothes, he suddenly realized Yuan Pan beside his foot.
“Eh… What’s the matter?”
The slightly puzzled An Wen asked as he picked Yuan Pan up.
“→_→”
That was the gaze Yuan Pan gave An Wen.
“What does that mean?”
An Wen did not know what Yuan Pan was trying to do.
Seeing that An Wen did not move even after a long time, Yuan Pan began struggling to break free of his grip.
An Wen then placed Yuan Pan down on the floor, and Yuan Pan began climbing towards the living room.
Very quickly, Yuan Pan climbed back onto his nest. He then placed one of his small claws onto his food bowl, then looked up at An Wen.
Oh!
An Wen finally understood – he had not fed Yuan Pan for a few days.
“Hold on, I’ll go and get your food now.”
Walking over to the storage cabinet, An Wen retrieved Yuan Pan’s food pellets from inside.
A typical tortoise ate vegetables, but An Wen was too lazy to purchase vegetables every day, so he bought imported tortoise pellets.
Pouring a portion of the pellets for Yuan Pan to eat every day was much more convenient.
“Alright, eat slowly, I’ll be leaving now.”
Tapping lightly on Yuan Pan’s shell, An Wen turned to leave his house.
“It’s my life BON JOVI this ain’t a song for the broken-hearted…”
After An Wen made it downstairs, his mobile phone began to ring.
“Who’s this?”
An Wen could not recognize the caller ID, which was an overseas number.
“Hello? Who is this? Yes, yes, I am the one who bought them… Alright, you may drive to the warehouse, I’ll head over now… Okay, okay… It’s settled then… Bye-bye!”
Hanging up the call, An Wen was slightly exasperated.
He was just about to go out to eat, but as it turned out, a delivery driver was on the way to his warehouse.
The bathtubs and the excavator which he purchased the previous day had already been delivered. The various fitness equipment he purchased were currently being delivered, while the bed-type wood milling machine would probably only arrive in two days’ time.
Without any other choice, An Wen started driving towards the warehouse to receive the goods.
Along the way, he ordered takeout.
Following which, he was busy again.
It was not until 8 p.m. when he finally finished unloading all of the fitness equipment.
“I was actually quite free and living a life of retirement, why am I so busy and working like a dog all of a sudden?”
An Wen was slightly bewildered as he looked at the disorganized warehouse.
Truthfully, he was an extremely calm person who did not engage in arguments with others in reality, although he previously angered other players in games.
Even when he encountered shameless tenants when he was collecting rent, he would not turn angry, nor would he argue with them.
After all, arguments could not solve such problems.
Instead, he would usually engage his lawyer to deal with the problem.
There were numerous lawyers who were employed by his family’s company, and it would be a waste if he did not use their services.
The terms were already written clearly in the contract anyway, so they could simply notify the police if the other party continued to play unpleasant tricks.
In the worst-case scenario, he would file a lawsuit against the other party.
Since he could afford to do so, it would just be a matter of which party could eventually stay the course of the lawsuit.
Nonetheless, under ordinary circumstances, An Wen would be agreeable if the other party did not have sufficient money and owed a month’s worth of rent.
It was not easy for anyone to earn money in this day and age, and anything could be discussed if one truly encountered difficulties and was not trying to play tricks.
I digress.
Now, as An Wen looked at the disorganized warehouse, he suddenly had an urge to give up.
His life was originally enjoyable; he played games every day, and occasionally he took part in aeromodelling or hung out with his friends.
It was an unremarkable but comfortable life.
However, now he had to work non-stop from day until night.
It was not the type of change that a calm, stay-home person could fully adapt to at a moment’s notice.
An Wen had been filled with enthusiasm over the past few days, and he did everything in excitement.
However, when he unloaded the equipment from the delivery truck with the delivery man moments ago, he felt extremely displeased. After all, he did not like to work.
“Sigh… I’m thinking too much about it. This is just my problem of being lazy. To put it bluntly, I just can’t endure hardship. The elderly would say that this problem is a habit I got used to.”
After a long while, An Wen let out a long sigh. Then, he stood up from the ground.
An Wen was still clear of his own direction.
He was someone who knew what his goals were, and someone who could weigh matters against each other.
As such, after his thoughts ran wild for a while, An Wen got back down to work.
One by one, he moved each piece of fitness equipment to the other world, before using wood and rock to build a simple gym.
“Building: Sturdy and Practical Gym”
“Grade: Excellent”
“Attributes: Exercise Effectiveness +25%, Physique Enhancement Limit +20%, Fatigue Reduction +25%, Internal Injury Reduction +25%”
“Special Effect: Human Body Enhancement List Activated”
“Income: 8500 Survival Points / Hour”
When An Wen finished reading the attributes of the gym, the only thought in his mind was: “This is extremely enticing!”
What was giving up?
What was not playing the ‘game’ anymore?
Such was not possible. Even if he had to unload goods from trucks and carry out physical labor every day, he would continue playing the game.
He then ‘clicked’ on the Human Body Enhancement List.
The rows of the skills tree, which were similar to the woodworking skills, appeared in front of An Wen.
“Strength of Limbs, Training of Internal Organs, and Nerve Response are the three fundamental enhancement skills. Developing further down the tree are the Body Muscles Path, Organs and Bones Path, and Brain Nerves and Perception Path.”
Scrolling down, he finally reached the bottom of the list.
Indeed, there were three ultimate skills shown.
“Extreme Physique, Everlasting Energy, and Brain of Wisdom respectively allowing the human body, the internal organs, and the brain to reach its maximum limit.”
After such a discovery, An Wen grew even more excited.
Things like Machine Megacity could at most be considered pursuits to fulfill emotional needs.
In comparison, Human Enhancement was different and could truly lengthen one’s life.
Closing the list, An Wen lifted up his singlet and looked at his abdominal muscles – they had been merged as one single ‘pack’ for quite a long period of time. He then immediately walked into the gym.
Using 300 Survival Points, he lit and activated the three fundamental skills.
Instantaneously, a large amount of fitness knowledge emerged in An Wen’s mind.
It was as if he had been exercising for years; information about how to train his body, how to exert his strength, and how to control the flow of blood for his internal organs to be strengthened were all clearly ingrained in his mind.
With such a fascinating effect, An Wen could not help but continue lighting up and activating other skills further down the list.
“Strength of Upper Limbs, Strength of Lower Limbs, Strength of the Waist… Anaerobic Explosion, Aerobic Circulation, Lungs Strengthening… Balance Training, Vision-free Perception, Enhancement of the Five Senses…”
An Wen lit up and activated nine consecutive skills.
Wham!
A wealth of knowledge flooded into his mind, causing him to feel slightly dizzy all of a sudden.
After some time, his brain absorbed all of the knowledge.
“There are actually so many small techniques you can use when exercising and training.”
An Wen was slightly awed. Indeed, it was not an easy task to acquire such a deep understanding of any field.
What am I waiting for, it’s time to start working out.
A hundred push-ups!
A hundred squats!
A hundred sit-ups!
I will be determined and run 10 kilometers every day!
I want to become stronger!
