Wham, wham, wham…
An Wen quickly landed another round of kicks and punches on the tree.
Thud!
Another standard-sized cube appeared out of nowhere.
“Haha… I’m chopping down a tree with my bare hands… Haha…”
An Wen laughed excitedly as he looked at the two wooden blocks on the ground.
At this moment, An Wen was even more excited than the first time he discovered that he had the ability to travel between two worlds.
This was due to the fact that the other world was just simply not as interesting as the Earth to a rich man’s son like him. He did not have to go on an adventure in the other world for a ticket to Rome, for he was already in Rome.
Now, however, when he discovered that the other world was 90% likely to be a game world, he became exhilarated.
An Wen was a hardcore, elite gamer who had devoted his life to playing games ever since he was young.
As such, there was nothing that would make him more excited than a real life game world.
Furthermore, the familiar action of chopping a tree down with his bare hands reminded him of many games.
Of which, the most famous was Minecraft.
“If I can chop a tree down, would I be able to make redstone devices and redstone structures?”
Wham, wham, wham…
An Wen pondered as he continued chopping down the tree.
Thud!
Very soon, another wooden block appeared.
An Wen stopped at that juncture.
He was exhausted since he had been chopping the tree for quite a long time. He was too excited just now to notice the fatigue creeping in. At this point, he began feeling the soreness in his arms and legs.
“If this is the game world, common sense cannot be used to make judgements.”
“After all everything in this in-game world depended on the settings of the game, and the laws of physics might not be applicable here.”
All of An Wen’s doubts that were formed previously, were resolved in that instant.
Why were there no microorganisms?
Why did the seawater not freeze and become ice?
Why was there such a great variance in temperature between the day and night?
There was no logical explanation for anything!
There was no point in asking such questions however, for they were all a part of the game’s settings.
All of his unanswered questions had now been resolved. Subsequently, it would be a smart decision to explore the settings of the game world.
“System interface? Newcomer’s guide? Attribute and status bar?”
“Oh, my heavens!”
After calling out names for some time, the virtual interface that An Wen was hoping to see, still did not appear.
“Nevermind, if there is no system interface, so be it.”
“Since I can cut down trees, I would be able to build houses as well. Let’s see what happens when I build one.”
An Wen started getting himself ready to construct a small wooden house, in a bid to find out what would happen subsequently.
Whoosh!
An Wen returned to reality. In the fastest speed possible, he ran to the DIY store and purchased tools for choppin trees.
Surely, he was not going to use his bare hands to chop down a tree like a fool.
Since he could even travel between the two worlds, why would he not make use of tools to help himself?
Did you say that that was cheating?
I’m bringing tools into the world with my own capabilities, on what basis can you accuse me of cheating?
Soon, An Wen returned to the small island with a bunch of tools.
To be exact, he was fully equipped with a wood saw, a hammer, an axe, a shovel, a pickaxe, a chainsaw, drill bits, a nail gun, iron wires, iron nails, and all the like.
“Let me try out the wood saw first.”
An Wen picked up the wood saw and began sawing the tree.
Buzz…
Buzz…
With each sawing motion, the trunk of the tree made ear-piercing screeches as sawdust flew everywhere.
The effect seemed quite decent.
However, An Wen quickly noticed a bug.
Regardless of whether he pressed forcefully or gently, the effect that he achieved was the same.
In that case…
Buzz… buzz… buzz…
An Wen stuck the wood saw to the tree and began operating it as if it were a chainsaw.
“Taking advantage of a bug in the game world is simply exhilarating.”
An Wen operated the wood saw happily.
Ten or so seconds later, the large tree in front of him suddenly disappeared.
On the ground, a three-meter-long, round wooden pole nearly 45 cm in diameter emerged in the tree’s place. One end of the pole was sharp and cone-shaped.
Originally, An Wen sawed the tree from the middle portion of the trunk, but now, the entire tree was only left while a shallow layer of roots and all the branches disappeared.
“Mmm, this is very scientific.”
It was completely within the settings of the game world for such a situation to occur, and there were absolutely no problems.
After revealing the effects of using a wood saw and discovering a bug through his experiment, An Wen picked up the axe.
The axe was slightly smaller – it was the kind of small axe used to chop bones.
However, it did not matter at all to the game world.
It would work, as long as it was an axe.
Chunk, chunk, chunk…
With the small axe, An Wen began hitting the tree trunk haphazardly.
Very quickly, a 30x30x30 cm wooden block emerged out of nowhere.
An Wen glanced at the wooden block which appeared but he did not stop hitting the tree.
He wanted to find out how many wooden blocks could appear from hitting one tree.
Ten minutes later…
An Wen had switched hands several times, and his wrists were both sore. Yet, wood blocks were still appearing out of the tree.
28 standard-sized wooden blocks had already emerged on the ground, almost filling up the available space on the ground.
Chunk, chunk, chunk… Woosh…
Suddenly, An Wen’s axe cut through the empty air.
“Is it finally done?”
An Wen looked at the roots beneath his feet as he let out a sigh of relief.
If the tree was still not finished, he would undoubtedly not have the energy to continue wielding the axe.
“30 wood blocks, a tree can give 30 standard-sized wooden blocks.”
After counting the number of wooden blocks in the perimeter, An Wen sat down to rest and relax his arms.
“To build a simple wooden house that is uniformly 2.4-meters tall and 3-meters wide, 240 standard-sized wooden blocks would be required for the walls. The side with a door that is 90-centimeters wide and 2.4-meters wide would require another 56 blocks. In total, the four walls would require a total of 296 blocks.”
“Using this method, I actually do not need to cut down too many trees; only ten trees would be needed to obtain all the wooden blocks required.”
An Wen roughly calculated the amount of trees needed to build a wooden house and was immediately filled with energy.
He picked up the chainsaw – he was going to test it out next.
Brum, brum, brum…
The roar of the chainsaw echoed as the chainsaw’s teeth met the trunk of the tree.
Ssss… Woosh…
In five seconds, the tree disappeared and turned into a round pole.
“Indeed, the difference between human and machine power is quite great.”
Seeing that the chainsaw was exceptionally effective, An Wen became extremely thrilled.
Thereafter, he used the chainsaw to saw the round pole which appeared, to find out if there would be any effect.
Crack!
A segment of the round pole was sliced off, but another standard-sized wooden block appeared to the side.
An Wen continued sawing the rest of the pole.
When the entire round pole disappeared, 20 more standard-sized wooden blocks had appeared on the ground.
“A tree gives 30 blocks, but after it turns into a round pole, the pole only gives 20 blocks. Were the remaining 10 blocks swallowed by a black hole?”
Well, such an unscientific phenomenon could only appear in the world of games.
Even though An Wen was complaining about obtaining 10 fewer blocks, he did not stop sawing the trees.
One hour later…
As An Wen continued cutting trees and experimenting with the various tools, he discovered yet another bug.
For example, if he used the chainsaw to cut the tree after 29 standard-sized wooden blocks had emerged, the tree would turn into a round pole.
In turn, cutting the pole would break it down into 20 standard-sized wooden blocks.
At the same time, cutting standard-sized wooden blocks would result in wooden planks – each standard-sized wooden block could be broken down into 10 wooden planks.
A wooden plank could be further broken down into wood strips.
However, breaking wood strips down further would only result in wood shavings.
After cutting trees for one hour, An Wen finally obtained all of the wooden blocks he needed.
He was finally ready to start building his wooden house.
