Flying Dust - Chapter 38-2
Flying Dust [Fei Chen]
Chapter 38.2
“Yunfeng!” Mo Fei Chen called out to him, soon after that he bent down and swept his torch across the ground, pushing away the sand and gravel as he vaguely saw a gap, “They must have dug a tunnel to get in here. “
Lu Qingmo and He Yunfeng came to his side and helped him pry up the loose floor, then a faint breeze came up. Sure enough, it was a tunnel.
“Shall we go down and take a look?” Mo Fei Chen asked He Yunfeng, who nodded in agreement, and so the four of them one after another went down.
The tunnel was so narrow that only one person could pass through it, but they all knew that it had taken more than one person to dig it. What was even more amazing was that the tunnel was dug from the bank of a small stream outside the manor.
As they made their way out of it, Mo Fei Chen looked back at the walls of Mu Yun Mountain Manor and laughed dryly, “How many years did it take to dig this?”
“If it’s just an ordinary disciple, I’m afraid it will take five or six years. If it’s an ordinary second-rate disciple, a year will be enough.” He Yunfeng replied indifferently.
Mo Fei Chen pouted his mouth, “This person also needs to know the topography of Mu Yun Mountain Manor, otherwise he will dig into something that he shouldn’t dig into… ” Such as the female disciples’ bath room.
“He also needs to know that underneath the main room of the Manor Leader is the underground tomb of Shi Zu,Luo Lianyun.” Lu Qingmo added.
“Then this person should be Mu Yun Mountain Manor’s disciple or at least have lived in the manor for a long time.” Wen Qian Liu turned around, “I’m going to go and check and interrogate all the disciples in the manor!”
“If this person is really the one who has been digging the tunnel throughout the years, he must have calluses in his hands, but different from the calluses of a long-time sword practitioner.” He Yunfeng reminded him before they went back to that underground tomb once again.
He stood for a long time in front of the ice coffin, and Mo Fei Chen, who was following him, suddenly felt that he should not be here at this moment, that this was the time and space that belonged to He Yunfeng and Luo Lianyun.
He had just stepped down to leave quietly yet He Yunfeng suddenly grabbed him, “You don’t need to go.”
“Ah…,” The bones of his wrist were clasped hard.
“Since she will not wake up again, Liang Yu will not melt.” He Yunfeng pulled him to his side, “Lianyun, although you may not be able to hear me, I wanted to tell you that I already found that person. I was thinking that perhaps I had slept so long, so I could meet him.”
Mo Fei Chen shuddered slightly. He knew that He Yunfeng considered him very important, but he had always thought that He Yunfeng had never let go of Luo Lianyun and that he had chosen to stay together with him only because he needed someone to keep him company, as the years were different and he were not the same person he used to be.1[岁岁年年人不同 quoted from this; 年年岁岁花相似,岁岁年年人不同 1)The flowers bloom as same in this season as in the last one, while people get older this year than the last one. 2) Flowers bloom season by season, while people get old year by year. This is a poem by Liu Xiyi, a poet of the Tang Dynasty in China. It is a line from the poem “The White Headed Man of Sorrows” It means, “Every year, the flowers are still the same flower but people are not the same person they used to be. It is a metaphor for “the constant change of people and things in the world compared to the natural things that do not change much”. It is also a metaphor for the fact that “time never returns”, reminding us to cherish time and the people around us.]
“Yunfeng…”
“I will find your sword seed.” He Yunfeng held Mo Fei Chen’s hand, “Let’s go.”
When they arrived on the surface, Wen Qian Liu had already gathered all the disciples in the manor, twice of Kun Yun Mountain Manor’s disciples. After searching for the whole afternoon, yet they could not find the person they were looking for.
“Is there anyone else who hasn’t come yet?” Wen Qian Liu asked.
“That… that…,” A teenage disciple raised his hand, “Zheng Rixing Shi Xiong has been away for over a month and hasn’t returned.”
“Zheng Rixing?” Hearing this name, Lu Qingmo frowned, “Shi Xiong, I remember that this man seems to be the disciple of Dian Ling and his wife. They were expelled from the manor, but their disciples were not at fault so they stayed here.”
“Dian Ling?” Mo Fei Chen’s voice rose, “That’s the thief couple (husband and wife)?”
He Yunfeng seemed to remember them as well, “Didn’t they still want my sword seed?”
“Shi Xiong! They once sneakily went into your secret room, is it possible that they knew that there was a mausoleum underneath it?”
Wen Qian Liu’s face was too late for regrets, “I should never have let them go and be soft-hearted!”
“It’s better to know who it could be rather than to look for a needle in a haystack.” He Yunfeng took Mo Fei Chen’s hand and laughed, “You haven’t eaten anything yet this all day, you must be hungry right?”
“I’ll send someone to prepare dinner, so Senior He Yunfeng can just go to your room and rest for a while.” Wen Qian Liu looked at the two men’s backs and asked Lu Qingmo, “Why do I feel that He Yunfeng is a bit too intimate… with his disciple?”
Lu Qingmo blurted out a laugh, “Shi Xiong, I sometimes want to be a little too ‘intimate’ with you too.”
“Ai… why are you being weird (not like his usual self) again?” Wen Qian Liu shook his head.
“He he, how is my little nephew doing?”
“What can he do? He lost his mother at such a young age and I’m afraid I can’t teach him well. Someday when I meet your sister-in-law in the underworld, I don’t know how I should face her…”
“[Sighing sound] Shi Xiong. My nephew is only four years old, right? At this age, it’s okay for him to be a little naughty, so there is no need to lock him up in his room to study and practice calligraphy.” Lu Qingmo predicted carefully in his heart that Wen Qian Liu had indeed aged a bit, for the manor’s sake and for the sake of the son left behind by Yan Ning. He remembered that many years ago, the previous Manor Leader had said that he, Lu Qingmo, was far more talented than Wen Qian Liu and had intended to pass on the position of the Manor Leader to him. Wen Qian Liu agreed, but he was also disappointed in his heart, for no matter how hard he tried, he could never ever compare with this Shi Di.
Since Lu Qingmo accidentally saw Wen Qian Liu’s sadness, he began not to interfere and wandered around, therefore the previous Manor Leader was frustrated with him who had failed to meet his expectations so much that he eventually passed the position to Wen Qian Liu.
