Chapter 2563 Destruction
Chi chi…
Tiny tendrils of vines spilled out from the magic array.
Immediately afterward, the vine tendrils rapidly grew in a circle around the magic array, enveloping it completely.
Done!
Fang Heng quickly opened the game hints to check.
[Hint: The player has successfully activated the summoning magic array of Abe Akaya.]
[Hint: In the current special environment, part of Abe Akaya’s abilities is reduced, and additional energy will be required for teleportation.]
Great!
Abe Akaya’s teleportation ability would help them escape from this place. This added an extra layer of insurance.
Fang Heng glanced at Abe Akaya and quickly established a mental connection.
Since it was Abe Akaya’s first time in the death realm, it was struggling to adapt to the environment, resulting in reduced combat effectiveness.
Nonetheless, it was still a high-tier combat force.
In addition, there were plenty of zombie clones.
Ultimately, whether they could successfully explore the mausoleum of Empress Persephone would depend on them.
Fang Heng slapped his cheeks to stay alert, then turned to Tan Shuo and Li Shaoqiang, “If we encounter any danger, move immediately toward the magic array. It can help us teleport out of the death realm.”
Li Shaoqiang and Tan Shuo exchanged surprised glances, their eyes roving over the magic array. They couldn’t believe this special vine could actually teleport them away from the death realm. Yet, they trusted Fang Heng wouldn’t mislead them.
With a path to escape from the death realm, Li Shaoqiang felt a bit reassured. He nodded and said, “Got it. We’ll remember that.”
“Almost there, let’s move.”
Fang Heng controlled a group of zombie clones to linger in the death knight hall, then stepped toward the grand door leading to Empress Persephone’s mausoleum.
Meanwhile, in the undead council hall, a heavy aura enveloped the room as all the high-ranking members of the undead faction focused intently on Fang Heng and his companions.
They were finally taking action!
Though they still didn’t fully understand the purpose of the tentacles summoned by Fang Heng’s magic array, the array’s impressive level indicated that these vines were anything but ordinary.
They hoped for their success.
The necromancy instructors silently prayed in their hearts.
…
“Creak… creak…”
The grand door leading to Empress Persephone’s mausoleum slowly swung open.
Fang Heng stepped into the hall behind it.
Coffins!
His eyes immediately fell upon the numerous coffins arranged throughout the hall.
They covered almost half of the space, a dense cluster.
Fang Heng squinted slightly.
Which coffin held the remains of Empress Persephone?
Abe Akaya’s vines followed him, creeping into the hall.
The silence in the hall was thick, exuding an unsettling power.
Tan Shuo and Li Shaoqiang cautiously followed behind Fang Heng, scanning for suspicious items.
“Mr. Fang, look over there,” Tan Shuo whispered, noticing something.
Everyone immediately followed his gaze.
That was…
In the center of the hall stood a towering ice crystal pillar, over two meters tall.
Near the ice crystal stone pillar, a coffin was shrouded in a dark aura. It seemed to be triggered by something external, as the aura continuously spilled out from the coffin.
“Be careful.”
Just as those words were spoken, the dark aura swiftly condensed on the coffin.
Fang Heng and the others felt a jolt of surprise and immediately looked up.
The gray aura coalesced quickly, gradually forming a phantom.
The figure lacked a defined face, appearing as a humanoid silhouette.
From its shape, it resembled an elderly figure hunched over, supported by a long shadowy scepter.
Fang Heng and his companions stared intently at the apparition.
The figure slowly shifted its gaze toward Fang Heng.
“Welcome, young trial participant. Your presence here signifies that you have passed the death knight’s assessment. Well done.”
There was a hint of nostalgia in its voice as it continued, “I never expected the one to succeed would be a young Death God. Come, follow me. I have awaited your arrival, to guide you in inheriting the power of the Empress.”
“Come closer. Trust that the shadows of the realm of death will once again envelop the world.”
Fang Heng studied the elder figure.
What was this shadow?
A product of will?
As time passed, the elder’s form began to solidify, his clothing and features becoming increasingly clear.
“Who are you?”
“I am… Cliff, the priest of the realm of death,” the shadow mused. “Forgive me for being here so long; it’s difficult to recall my name. Trial participant, come. Let us complete the final ritual as soon as possible.”
“Wait! Fang Heng!”
Tan Shuo shouted, blocking Fang Heng’s path.
The stone slab in his hands was heating up rapidly.
The undead council hall was in an uproar as the necromancers, observing through mirrors, witnessed the unfolding scene.
The realm of death was established by Empress Persephone!
Though they couldn’t see the elder’s face clearly, the runes etched upon him indicated that he was likely a priest of the realm of death.
He was still alive!
The higher-ups in the undead council had so many questions about the realm of death.
Finally, they had found a surviving will!
The elder slowly turned his gaze to Tan Shuo and asked, “Is there something else?”
“Priest, I want to know why the undead realm fell?”
Cliff paused, seemingly lost in long memories.
After a moment, he returned from his reverie, shaking his head, “No, you are mistaken. The undead realm never perished. The Empress merely fell into a deep slumber, waiting for a suitable vessel, and now, the Empress has found one.”
Cliff’s gaze shifted to Fang Heng and said, “Yes, it is you. You have passed the test of the Death Knight and are about to become the vessel for the will of Empress Persephone…”
Fang Heng pressed on, “Why did the Empress fall into slumber?”
“Because of war.”
Cliff continued, “The death realm was not at peace. The Empress, in her mercy, had not cleansed all the tribes that existed there. The Hanu tribe allied with outsiders, opening the Abyss of Despair, disrupting the cycle of reincarnation, and attempting to overthrow the Empress’s rule.”
“But they ultimately failed,” Cliff shook his head. “The Empress destroyed the Abyss of Despair, rebuilt order, restored reincarnation, and drove away the outsiders. She vowed to eradicate all tribes that showed her disloyalty.”
“Unfortunately, during the reconstruction of the Abyss of Despair, Empress Persephone expended too much energy. In the final battle, her will was compromised, and the queen bug shattered her physical form, even attempting to devour her will.”
“Thus, the Empress chose to take them down with her. After that, her remaining will be returned to the mausoleum she had built in her lifetime.”
