Global Online Survival - Chapter 12
Chapter 12: Shipwreck at the Bottom of the Sea
Translator: Henyee Translations Editor: Henyee Translations
The bottom of the sea was a dark place, often without any source of light.
The creatures that grew in that environment, both plants and fish, would probably grow in a somewhat random manner because they were all invisible to each other.
A bright light suddenly went down to the dim bottom of the sea at that moment.
A human figure, a bright pearl in her hand emitting light.
The glow was extremely soft, but it was enough to illuminate everything under the water for over a dozen meter radius.
Many of the nearby small fish had never seen light before and were frightened by it; they quickly took cover.
Some of the curious little ones followed the light and kept chasing the bright pearl in the doll’s hand.
Ye Jun was finally able to see the underwater world.
It was a much different environment when compared to his previous electric ray hunt.
It looked like a mountain range under the sea, undulating and with jagged rocks.
Ye Jun searched thoroughly and came across several large lobsters that were a foot long; he didn’t hesitate to tie them up with a fishing line and slung them on the doll’s back.
“Ding! Fire Coral Essence found, would you like to collect it?”
Ye Jun’s spirit was slightly shaken.
The reason he wanted the doll to dive to the bottom of the sea was to see if he could find some strange and useful things which were rich in materials.
There it was!
Appearing before him was a vast expanse of fiery red coral that rendered the entire ocean floor a sea of fire.
Those fire corals, reef by reef, looked as if they were bouquets.
There was a thumb-sized orb among the flowers!
That was the Fire Coral Essence.
Collect!
A Fire Coral Essence instantly appeared in Ye Jun’s hand.
He saw its attributes at the same time.
“Fire Coral Essence, a peculiar plant born in a submarine volcano, grows up absorbing fire attribute essence and contains rich fire attribute energy!”
Good stuff!
There was a large area filled with fire coral before him!
Ye Jun didn’t hesitate to frantically start collecting. He didn’t want to miss out on any of it.
The raft he was on drifted with the waves, and the next day there was no telling where it would drift to.
“Ding! Collected Successfully! +1 Fire Coral Essence!”
“Ding! Collected Successfully! +1 Fire Coral Essence!”
“Ding…”
Ye Jun picked twenty-two Fire Coral Essences in one go and harvested all the fire coral in the area.
Just as Ye Jun was about to leave, his gaze was suddenly drawn to a bright light in the fire coral reefs.
“Ding! Strange fire coral found!”
It was a palm-sized fire coral that had been growing in the middle of the coral reef; it was extremely short when compared to the other corals, but it was different.
There was a blood-colored thread on top of that fire coral, as if there were blood flowing through it.
Strange Fire Coral (Level 0) An evolved item from fire coral that has the ability to grow. Absorbs fire and can constantly condense Fire Energy Beads.
Ye Jun was overjoyed as he reached out and grabbed the small fire coral.
Unexpectedly, the doll’s silicone palm was almost burned up by it.
This startled him.
That strange fire coral seemed to have real flames.
Having no other choice, Ye Jun had to dig up some dirt to wrap that strange fire coral before he took it to the surface.
Surprisingly enough, the strange fire coral instantly sprouted flames after emerging from the water. That seemed to be a reaction since there was no more seawater suppression; the thing burned like a flaming tree.
Ye Jun hurriedly transplanted it into the fireplace.
A large part of the flames in the fireplace was instantly engulfed and the firewood was almost consumed; Ye Jun added another bundle of firewood to stabilize it.
It was apparent that the thing had a big appetite; he didn’t know how much fire it would consume, so he would have to buy more firewood in the future.
However, that was not a worrying matter for Ye Jun.
He had no shortage of food, and could casually trade fish for large quantities of wood; he had enough to provide for the guy.
Ye Jun’s gaze then fell on the Fire Coral Essence.
It was a flame essence that could quickly replenish Fire Energy!
Ye Jun pinched one the size of his thumb; it gave a warm sensation. He then popped it into his mouth, and swallowed it.
“Consumed Fire Coral Essence, +10 Fire Energy!”
Hmm?
Ye Jun’s eyes widened!
His current Flame Affinity was ten; the usual was for him to only convert and absorb ten flame points per day!
Still, taking the Fire Coral Essence was not subject to that restriction!
Ye Jun took a glance at the description and finally understood.
The Fire Coral Essence was the purest Fire Energy; it could be absorbed directly without any need to convert it.
Ye Jun ate all the Fire Coral Essence in one go.
“Consumed Fire Coral Essence, +10 Fire Energy!”
“Consumed Fire Coral Essence, +10 Fire Energy!”
…
“Fire Energy has leveled up!”
“Consumed Fire Coral Essence, +10 Fire Energy!”
…
Ye Jun glanced at the attribute panel.
Player Ye Jun (death mode).
Titles Obtained:
Beginner Flame Controller. Fire Energy Level: 2 (140/200)
Flame Affinity: 10 (You can absorb 10 points of Fire Energy per day.)
Beginner Hunter. Hunter Level 2 (71/200)
Beginner Lightning Controller. Lightning Level: 0 (0/10)
Lightning Affinity: 10.
Skill: Fireball
Skill: Palm Thunder
Endurance: 90, Speed: 90, Strength: 190.
The Fire Energy upgrade and a ten-point increase in Strength had helped Ye Jun’s Strength to reach the 190 kilogram mark, which was comparable to the top-tier strongmen.
After that, Ye Jun knocked to death the three large lobsters he had brought up from the bottom of the sea.
“Killed three lobsters (level 0), +3 EXP, +5 copper coins!”
He dropped the lobsters into the iron barrel, then added some electric ray meat, water, and then some mushrooms and wild vegetables. Lastly, he cracked two more wild duck eggs that he had traded for.
A pot of all-natural, additive-free soup was ready!
Such a sumptuous dinner would be extremely rare even in modern times!
Before he got to enjoy it, Ye Jun took a picture and uploaded it to the game channel with the caption:
“Pure natural and additive-free, self-created soup!”
The entire world channel instantly wailed.
All sorts of envious comments were spamming the screen.
Everyone was still worried about finding food at the moment and the vast majority of people were hungry; they only took a bite of bread when they couldn’t bear the hunger.
Even so, Ye Jun was eating lobster and seafood.
Is there any justice in this?
Everyone else is here to survive, while this guy is practically on vacation.
This guy is not a pay-to-win player, is he?
What an evil capitalist!
Ye Jun offered the rest of the food for trade after having a sumptuous meal.
“Fish and lobster meat in exchange for firewood. A cubic meter of wood for a catty of fish.”
“Brother Ye, can I trade abalone for your lobster? I have never eaten lobster even at this age.”
“Get lost you ugly…”
Many people started complaining.
“Two-faced businessman, that’s too shady!”
“A catty of fish won’t even give me enough strength to chop one cubic meter of wood!”
“Ye God, you have so much fish meat that you can’t finish it, can’t you do something for everyone? Saving a life yields more merit than building a seven-floor pagoda!”
Ye Jun swept a glance at that last message and sneered, ignoring it altogether.
It was a survival game, not a poverty alleviation program. Even if it was to help the poor, they had to be worthy for it.
They deserved to starve to death for not even bothering to do something as harmless as chopping wood, or picking up some dry logs!
As night fell, countless players began to huddle in the makeshift shelters they had either built or found, waiting for the sun to rise the next day.
Meanwhile, Ye Jun didn’t rest.
He controlled the doll to go deeper into the ocean floor again.
The glowing pearl allowed him to keep busy at night. Besides, the doll would never get tired anyway.
Many small fish were chasing the pearl in the doll’s hand as it went down.
Ye Jun carefully searched the seabed; he didn’t encounter any rare treasures along the way.
Fish were difficult to catch, even when he saw those that were to his liking; they would flinch at the slightest movement and flee the area.
Ye Jun had only picked up a few shells and conches, then caught two lobsters and one crab in a span of a few hours.
Just as he was going to quit for the day, there was a sudden but slight click beneath his feet; it seemed that something had somewhat loosened.
The ground caved in, the dirt tumbled, and a large piece of mangled wood floated up.
“Shipwreck!”
Ye Jun’s eyes widened at once!
