Today was the day she had fixed with the boss of the weapons shop to get her dagger.
Being Zihou’s number one fan, Qi Shaoyang was already waiting for her at the Wei residence early in the morning.
The two of them walked along the street. A handsome man and a gorgeous girl. All heads turned at the sight of them. Qi Shaoyang felt extremely smug at the public’s reaction, and his eyes narrowed in delight.
“Boss, I heard that vixen from the Feng Family is rotting all over. She has nearly gone crazy. Is it your doing?” Qi Shaoyang shoved his own face in front of Zihou, full of a gossipy curiosity.
Zihou raised her brows and looked past him, though she did give a subtle nod of her head. She was clearly not interested in conversing further with this gossip-monger.
“Wow, boss! You’re too cool!” Having gotten Zihou’s affirmation, Qi Shaoyang hooted as he pumped his fists in the air. He continued, “I have never liked that pair of siblings. They have committed all sorts of wicked deeds just because they have strong backing. Guess it’s true that persisting in evil brings about self-destruction!”
“Boss, you are so awesome, I must bring you to meet someone. I guarantee that you will like him!” Qi Shaoyang beamed excitedly, baring his gleaming white teeth.
“Who?” Zihou cast a sideways glance at Qi Shaoyang. Why was he so confident that she would like that person?
“Haha, you will know when the time comes. Let’s go get the dagger first.” Qi Shaoyang smiled mysteriously. Things would only be exciting if he kept it a secret!
When they reached the weapons shop, it seemed like the boss had already been waiting anxiously. He rushed forward in a profuse welcome the moment he spotted them.
“Is the dagger done?” Zihou asked without preamble.
“Miss, don’t worry. The dagger has already been completed. I will go get it for you now!” The boss smiled before turning to go and retrieve the dagger.
He returned soon after with a wooden box. From afar, that black-colored box looked like it was shrouded in a white fog.
“Miss, this is the dagger made from your Dark Cloud Black Iron,” the boss said as he opened the box.
A pure black dagger laid across the golden silk in the box. The intense black color made it seem like it had come from hell. As if you would get swallowed by the darkness with just one look.
The white fog surrounding the dagger made it appear not like a dagger at all, but a piece of ice.
Now and then, silver light glinted along the sharp blade of the dagger, as if it was a twinkling star.
A flash of surprise crossed Zihou’s eyes. It must be said that this was the best dagger she had ever seen in her two lives.
She reached out, and the moment she held the dagger in her hands, a gust of cold energy permeated her skin and chilled her to the bone.
Zihou discreetly gathered her aura into her palm to mesh with the cold energy.
Zihou twirled the exquisite dagger a few times to see how it felt in her hands. Satisfied, Zihou nodded and praised. “Boss, your craftsmanship is very good. I’m very pleased with this dagger.”
The boss smiled modestly at her compliment. “My craftsmanship is just average. It’s this Dark Cloud Black Iron that made this dagger so amazing. In fact, I’m the one who should be thanking you.” Gratitude flooded the boss’ face. “I have been forging weapons all my life but have never seen material as wondrous as this Dark Cloud Black Iron. Now, not only did I get to witness such a remarkable material, but I was also able to handle it and make a weapon. I’m utterly grateful for the opportunity!”
The two of them left the weapons shop after settling the bill and thanking the boss.
Although she was not that interested, Zihou followed Qi Shaoyang to meet the person whom she would supposedly like. In her eyes, Qi Shaoyang was a rather immature guy—who could he possibly introduce her to?
What Zihou didn’t know was that meeting this person would change her life, as well as his.
It must be said that we would never know what fate had in store for us!
“The person you are bringing me to meet—is he at First Impressions Restaurant?” Zihou asked somewhat incredulously when they came to a stop outside the front doors of the First Impressions Restaurant.
“That’s right!” Qi Shaoyang nodded with a brilliant smile.
Surveying the First Impressions Restaurant, Zihou couldn’t help recalling her first time at this place. The image of the tall, strapping “good uncle” clad in a green robe surfaced in her mind.
She followed Qi Shaoyang onto the third story. On the way, the staff appeared to be very familiar and respectful toward Qi Shaoyang.
The third-floor of the First Impressions Restaurant was much smaller than the first two levels. There were no customers here and it was exceptionally quiet.
“Third Uncle, we are here!” Qi Shaoyang called out politely as he stood outside a door with the plaque “Forgotten Love Room” fixed above it. He also knocked on the door.
“Come in.” A deep, hoarse voice sounded out after a moment of silence.
Zihou was stunned. This voice sounded quite familiar, and the image of that handsome, gentle face surfaced in her mind.
Didn’t this voice belong to that weird uncle who was the boss of the First Impressions Restaurant?
Her mind raced as she linked it up to certain facts.
Qi Shaoyang and that uncle, who had been addressed as Boss Qi, both held the surname Qi. Qi Shaoyang had also called him Third Uncle—so they must be related by blood and were uncle and nephew.
She hadn’t thought much about this fact before, but now that she considered it, the two of them did look somewhat alike.
“Young punk, you seldom visit me. Why have you suddenly decided to come today?” Qi Hao turned around from the window, his features looking exceptionally warm and gentle.
“I’m just worried about disturbing Third Uncle at work. Nonetheless, I always have Third Uncle in my heart.” Qi Shaoyang’s honeyed words triggered a smile on Qi Hao’s face.
“Who have you brought with you…” Qi Hao shifted his gaze toward the figure standing behind Qi Shaoyang.
His sentence trailed off.
“Girl, why have you come?” Qi Hao’s smile froze, before being replaced by a look of shock. But it was quickly followed by an even more radiant smile.
“Uncle Qi, we meet again.” Zihou approached him with a faint smile, her tone familiar.
“You two… know each other?” Qi Shaoyang felt like crying. How could it be? He had especially wanted to introduce boss to his Third Uncle and had even prepared a wonderful speech. He wouldn’t be able to use it now!
Qi Shaoyang gazed into the sky, imploring the heavens pitifully.
“Girl, it’s just been a few days since I last saw you, but you have changed quite a bit!” The young lady before him was still as beautiful and poised as before. But her aura was much stronger than the previous time they met.
She was truly an astonishing girl!
“I have indeed had some improvement.” Zihou raised her brows slightly, not the least bit humble.
“Hahaha!” Qi Hao couldn’t help chortling at Zihou’s manner. This girl was open and gracious, not at all fake. She was a rare one.
The two of them continued to converse intimately. This made Qi Shaoyang feel completely neglected and even more depressed now.
With boss around, he felt like he had become totally invisible to Third Uncle.
And he and Third Uncle were the ones who were actually related by blood!
“Third Uncle, how did you get to know boss?” Qi Shaoyang squeezed between the two, trying to direct some attention to himself.
“Guess.” Zihou gave Qi Shaoyang a fleeting glance as she tossed him a casual remark.
As for Qi Hao, he didn’t even bother to respond.
The corners of Qi Shaoyang’s lips twitched and he lowered his head in defeat. He felt totally ignored but was helpless about it.
I say Third Uncle, should you really be ignoring your nephew like that?
The three of them had lunch together and chatted for a long time. Qi Shaoyang had always been a chatterbox. Meanwhile, although Qi Hao was usually not a very talkative person, he found it very easy to chat with Zihou and Qi Shaoyang. As for Zihou, she discovered that this uncle was not only very handsome but also very knowledgeable. As a result, she made full use of this opportunity to ask him all sorts of questions about the Vast Lands.
The sun set and the sky turned dark.
“Third Uncle, when are you finally willing to come home?” Qi Shaoyang glanced at the night sky. He had mulled a long time whether or not to ask this question, before finally deciding to just say it out.
