The Old Master was very happy and praised her for being a mature young lady, among many other things he talked about.
However, Tang Qianmiao excelled at observing and reading people. Hence very quickly, she figured out that he had not come to the point of what he wanted to say.
Expectedly, the next moment, the Old Master said, “Miao Miao, Grandpa has a question for you.”
“Please feel free to ask.”
“What do you think of our family’s number two?”
Number two?
Tang Qianmiao narrowed her eyes slightly. Was the Old Master referring to Feng Xian?
Suddenly, putting everything together with the Old Master’s expression, she realized the meaning of his question. She smiled faintly and said, “What happened at the restaurant this afternoon was all a misunderstanding. I’m still in school and my academic pursuits are my priority right now. I’m not interested in romantic relationships.”
The Old Master was taken aback. He didn’t think that the child would be this straightforward. But having heard her stance on it, he was relieved.
So it was all a misunderstanding.
As she walked out of the central tower, Tang Qianmiao saw a well-dressed and well-presented lady standing at the entrance. The lady would have been in her mid-forties, but she looked ten years younger.
This was Feng Xian’s mother, the mistress of the East Wing, Qiao Shiwan.
In the five days that she was here, Tang Qianmiao had only seen her twice, and both times, she had been infected by the lady’s dazzling and warm smile, so much that she found herself smiling back.
“Aunt Wan,” she greeted the lady.
Qiao Shiwan turned when she heard her. Then she quickly walked up to them, smiling very happily.
“You’re back! Are you tired? Have you eaten? Are you hungry? Gosh, look at you, it’s already Autumn and you’re wearing such thin clothes. It’s chilly at night. Come, put on my jacket.”
Tang Qianmiao held the lady’s hand and said, “Thank you, Aunt Wan, but that’s not necessary.”
“Hey, you don’t have to be so cordial with me. Has Grandpa told you, that from now on, you will stay with us? I’m the only woman here, so you will be my company. Let the three men dote on usーhow great is that!”
Tang Qianmiao smiled casually but said nothing.
It didn’t matter where she stayed, as long as she was within the Feng residence. It would make her search a lot easier.
As she stepped into the East Wing, her superior hearing ability allowed her to pick up a conversation within the wing. It was the voice of a son pestering his father to buy him a car.
The father seemed to be flipping through the newspapers and glossed over the request by saying, “Go ask your mother. I’ll buy it for you if your mother agrees.”
The boy sounded disappointed, “Mom will just go with big brother’s decision. He’s already said he won’t buy it for me.”
“Don’t buy it then.”
“No!”
The boy started wailing. Tang Qianmiao rubbed her ears as the sound was piercing and it hurt. She sighed and regretted not having worn her noise cancellation earphones.
After a while, Qiao Shiwan led her into the living area. The moment she stepped in, she saw a boy leaning against the sofa dejectedly and sighing. A middle-aged man sat on the sofa reading the papers.
Tang Qianmiao greeted him, “Uncle Feng.”
Feng Teng lowered the papers and put them aside. He took off his glasses and smiled amiably. “Miao Miao is here. Welcome. Just make yourself feel at home here, don’t feel restrained.”
Just as he had spoken, Feng Can came running up towards Tang Qianmiao, bringing a gust of wind behind him. He stared wide-eyed at her and asked, “I hear that you’re dating my big brother?”
“What?!” Qiao Shiwan was taken aback.
Feng Teng looked surprised as well.
Tang Qianmiao sighed silently, regretting that she had hugged him earlier on.
How troublesome.
Qiao Shiwan was elated and persisted in asking the child, “Ah Can, what do you mean? Say that again?”
“I heard it from Chu Chu. Big brother and Tang Qianmiao were hugging each other during his blind date.”
Immediately, three pairs of eyes drilled into Tang Qianmiao, as though waiting for an answer.
She gave a light cough and said quickly, “Misunderstanding.”
“Indeed it was a misunderstanding.”
A deep male voice came from behind. Tang Qianmiao was not surprised and did not turn around. She had already heard his footsteps way before.
Feng Xian walked over expressionlessly and poured himself a glass of water.
“I’m not interested in girls under the age of 22.”
