The auction had officially begun.
Lin Wenyu sat with her parents on the first row and her gaze floated to the middle seats of the same row. Unable to hide her excitement, she exclaimed, “Mom, that’s Feng Xian! He’s here too!”
Looking over, Yun Ruyi said with a smile, “I’ll take you to talk to him after the auction ends.”
Lin Wenyu nodded quickly, her eagerness was written all over her face. She had interacted with almost everyone in the Feng family, other than second Young Master Xian.
In everyone’s eyes, he was an extremely capable, arrogant and indifferent man. He rarely spared ordinary people a glance at all.
She must seize this opportunity well.
While she was thinking about it, she turned her head and glanced back. When she saw Tang Qianmiao, who was sitting at the corner in the back, she felt a strong sense of superiority.
A sneer appeared on her lips as she eyed the man sitting next to Tang Qianmiao for a while, and instantly disliked him.
The first item for the auction was brought out soon after. It was a landscape painting by a well-known contemporary painter.
The competition in the first round was not a fierce one, there were only three people who participated in the bidding.
After about seven or eight rounds, a string of Eastern Pearl earrings with a history of hundreds of years was brought up. They were used by the ancient royal family and only the queens and the emperor’s mother were able to use them. They represented power and status and were extremely valuable.
The starting bid was 3 million dollars.
As soon as Lin Wenyu heard the introduction, her eyes gleamed with interest. However, the price was still slightly high for her.
After giving it many considerations, she decided to grit her teeth and bid for it. If she was able to get it, she planned to gift it to the old lady of the Tang family so that her stepfather’s family would like her even more.
Thus, after the auctioneer had finished speaking, she instantly raised her sign and said, “Three million, one hundred thousand!”
Just as the auctioneer was about to speak, another voice sounded. “Five million.”
Just as this unhurried voice sounded out, everyone involuntarily looked at the bidder. The price had jumped up too fast and had crushed the first competitor directly.
Lin Wenyu looked over as well and her eyes brightened when she realized that it was Feng Xian. Since she had laid her eyes on the same item as Feng Xian, surely this was a sign that their taste was equally high.
Naturally, she wouldn’t fight for it with Feng Xian. Knowing her place, she stopped bidding for it. She looked over at Feng Xian with a gaze eager to please, hoping that he would look over suddenly.
However, he didn’t turn towards her at all. Instead, his cold gaze was staring fixedly at the stage.
At that moment, another buyer bid. “Five and a half million.”
“Six million!”
The next second, Lin Wenyu saw Feng Xian raise his sign and said lightly, “Ten million.”
At that instant, Lin Wenyu felt her small heart halt for a second and after that, it began beating so quickly it felt it was going to burst.
That was so charismatic.
Although the price had been raised to this extent, all the people there weren’t short of money. Not long later, there were offers at twelve million.
Feng Xian, “20 million.”
It was then that any competition instantly disappeared.
Some people started hesitating.
It wasn’t because they didn’t have the money, it was just that in their hearts, there was an acceptable range on how much this pair of earrings was worth. Once it exceeded this range, it was meaningless for them to continue.
Upon seeing this, the auctioneer was prepared to drop the hammer.
Just at that moment—
“Thirty million.”
A faint female voice came from the corner and it instantly evoked thousands of waves in everyone’s hearts.
Their first surprise was the identity of this unfamiliar face and their second surprise was the amount of courage this lady had to compete with the second master of the Feng family.
Those people who were bidding just now were all highly respected figures. It was reasonable for them to be competing with someone from the Feng family, but… who was this girl?
When Lin Wenyu realized that the person who had raised the sign was indeed Tang Qianmiao, her surprise instantly turned into amusement.
She almost laughed out loud.
She whispered to her mother, “Cousin is really ignorant, did she think that her man can give her 30 million dollars so easily? I think she’s treating this auction as a child’s play. How embarrassing.”
Yun Ruyi snorted lightly. “How much knowledge can a child from the mountains have?”
“Young Master Xian looks like he is determined to win this item. She must have noticed it and is just bidding for fun. How can she be so rich?” Lin Wenyu instantly looked back in Feng Xian’s direction, expecting him to raise his sign.
Just as everyone was expecting him to raise his sign to continue the competition, he didn’t do so even after a long time. It wasn’t until the auctioneer had signified the end of the bid with the hammer that everyone reacted.
Lin Wenyu was shocked and confused. Tang Qianmiao actually won the bid?
Why didn’t Feng Xian compete with her?
Just as she was trying to figure it out, she suddenly rejoiced at her misfortune. Let’s see how Tang Qianmiao was going to pay now!
She turned back to stare at Tang Qianmiao, looking forward to seeing her aghast and helpless expression.
But, she didn’t see anything.
Tang Qianmiao still looked calm and unwavering. It was as if she wasn’t the person who had called out the 30 million dollar bid. Moreover, the man beside her wasn’t anxious at all. He didn’t look as if he was going to scold her.
What was happening?
On the other side.
The assistant glanced at Feng Xian and couldn’t resist asking, “Young Master, didn’t you say that Madam really liked this pair of earrings and you want to give it to her as a gift? Why did you give up suddenly?”
He couldn’t figure out why his boss was so determined at the start but decided to give it up now.
In response, his boss only glanced lightly at him.
The assistant shut his mouth and fell silent again.
