- Chapter 32-1 - I Became Close to the Villain Chapter 32-1
“Vianne. Do you want to go get some sleep?”
Idris suggested, but I shook my head.
“I don’t want to. I am not tired.”
“… … I should’ve killed him quickly.”
Idris must’ve thought that the criminal made me this way. He gave me the right to choose, so he really regret it.
“But because I came, the person give us some information.”
I said after sighing and looked at the sunset outside.
“Do you have any idea who brainwashed him?”
I don’t know many mages, and most will know Idris. So he can guess better,
I asked him lightly, but he couldn’t open his mouth easily.
“There is someone I suspect. But…”
“But?”
After a while, he replied.
“He is dead.”
It was an unexpected reply.
“Die? Then shouldn’t he become excluded as a suspect?”
It should be like that naturally. No matter how strong a mage is, they can’t crawl out of the tomb and do something like that.
“……I’ll find out more about it first. Don’t worry about it.”
He didn’t seem to think that his words were absurd but I just stayed quiet.
We walked to Idris’ room.
I changed my dirty clothes and had dinner with Idris. In the meantime, the sun has set, leaving only a little light for us
“Vianne. Let’s learn magic today.”
Suddenly, Idris suggested. It was a good idea. It was postponed because the incident broke out.
“Okay. Should we do it here?”
“We can, but important things can break. Do you want to go to the roof?”
“On the roof? What an interesting idea.”
I couldn’t help but laugh. Then Idris grabbed my shoulders.
“Are we going to fly?”
“Well, there is no entrance to the roof.”
He said as we walked out of the room.
He opened the glass door at the end of the hallway as we went out to the terrace. We jumped from there and arrived at the roof.
My hair fluttered in the night breeze. So was the end of Idris’ robe.
“The island is pretty this way.”
Although the sky was dark, the towers gleamed with lights and the city was bright.
Wizard city. I’ve never properly looked at it.
“It’s my favorite place.”
Idris said softly.
I looked up at him. And he laughed a little.
“What if we destroy your favorite place while practicing magic?”
“It’s okay. We can rebuild it. There are a lot of things in my room that can’t be recovered if it’s broken, so I came here instead.”
He looked at me and smiled.
Idris looks so nice when he smiles. He was also like that in the past.
“You must be rich.”
“Yes. Be careful of your feet.”
He put me down slowly. And he held me so that I wouldn’t lose my footing. Thanks to this, I was able to arrive on the roof safely.
Idris who was sitting next to me made something with his hand and gave it to me.
“I think it’s going to be cold.”
“What is this?”
I received mana the size of a palm in the shape of a white lotus flower.
It was warm.
“Some kind of… hand warmer?”
He explained.
“Oh, you even know how to do this. You are like a real mage.”
I admired it and touched it.
“I didn’t expect to hear those words while making it.”
Idris responded jokingly.
Hey, it seemed like you used a lot of top-level magic in front of me already.
“It’s best if something is practical.”
I said bluntly. Idris smiled briefly again.
“What do you see in this magic, Vianne?”
He then asked me a question.
What do I see? What do you need to show?
“I know that it is shaped to look like a white lotus flower.”
“Other than that?”
“Well… …”
I tilted my head in confusion.
“I see a lot of little dots. It is shining.”
Then Idris asked me,
“Is there such a thing?”
I rubbed my eyes and stared again.
“Can’t you see it?”
“Magic can be seen by anyone, but only mages can see the original magic source.”
“Is that so… … ?”
“The small dots I mentioned are the mana that exists in the natural state. Unprocessed mana is white.”
Idris slowly covered my eyes with his own hands. I closed my eyes.
“You’re not a mage completely, so you can’t see the manayet. The problem will be solved by frequent encounters and observations of mana, but today I’ll manipulate your vision a little bit.”
He lifted his hand again. I hesitated and opened my eyes.
“I’ll tell you what it looks like in advance.”
There was something on his hand that looked like thousands of small stars gathered. When I endured the brightness and looked closely, it was a lotus-shaped mana.
The shining dots were connected to each other and arranged in geometric patterns. This is something made of mana.
“It’s really interesting.”
I said. Then I raised my eyes and looked at him.
Oh my gosh. Idris was controlling the waves of light with his fingertips. It was very sophisticated and beautiful.
It was like he was a mage who lived his whole life surrounded by light.
He really looked like that.
“You mean mage have this kind of power?”
White lights were scattered all over the air. What Idris brought was only a small part.
“Right, see this.”
Idris moved the waves of light with his fingertips and pulled them. Then, for a moment, it was arranged in the form of a magic circle.
The magic circle, which was completed in an instant, flashed to the sky.
“What I just did was attack magic. To compare it to a physical attack, it has the power of a spear thrown with all of human’s might.”
“Wow… … .”
I was too engrossed seeing it, and then I looked at my own body.
It was dark.
“Did you cover it up?”
“Yes.”
Idris’ magic really worked well. Looking at it like this, he was a strong mage. Who would think of me as a person who holds mana?
“Do you also see me like that?”
I asked, looking around happily at the world being occupied by light.
“……I knew it since 10 years ago, but now I know for sure. The magic I cast doesn’t work for me. Especially this kind of magic.”
Idris looked at me with tenderness.
“Even so, I usually adjust my vision to not see your light. All the mages know how to do that.”
“I see. I wonder how bright I am. I want to see it.”
“It’s not that shiny. The brighter the light, the more pain you will experience.”
“But it’s still going to be pretty, right? It’ll be worth a look at least once.
I said that lightly but Idris looked sad somehow.
