Chapter 31
“Yeah! It’s such an honor for auntie. I can’t wait to see Luciana’s drawing!”
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to draw, she just waited for Daisy’s permission. Daisy’s heart fluttered at Luciana’s beautiful mind.
It’d be nice no matter how she drew it, but Luciana did not want to do it half-heartedly. As expected, Luciana must be a painter of this era who sought perfection!
“I’ll sit still until Luciana finishes drawing. You have to draw it well, okay?”
Blink, blink!
Luciana silently nodded her head. She looked like a rabbit pricking up its ears.
Luciana picked up the brush with a bright expression.

Carlyx, who returned late, sighed deeply.
‘I’m exhausted.’
The training went as usual, but the conversation with Daisy lingered inside his head.
It was difficult to accept that his belief so far was, in fact, restricting and limiting the knights.
‘It doesn’t make sense at all.’
He couldn’t get it off his mind at all.
If anyone else said it, he wouldn’t even think twice, but Daisy’s insight was too hard to ignore. Moreover, she insisted on it despite being pressured by his dark aura. She went through a horrendous experience just to persuade him.
‘No. Discrimination is not allowed.’
It was something he experienced when he was young. His parents compared him to his brother, and people compared him to everyone else.
Sitting on the bed, Carlyx touched his throbbing head.
‘She’s wrong.’
The Knighty Order led by Carlyx was pretty formidable. The knights weren’t being paid poorly either.
On the other hand, his system was completely following the ideal system. That way, it’d be possible for him to make them stay longer.
‘I don’t want them to end up like me.’
Since childhood, Carlyx had grown up through an abnormal system.
He picked up the sword out of fear that he’d be abandoned, and swung it in order to gain recognition.
Funnily enough, his brother was praised for everything that Carlyx had already accomplished, even if it was a trivial thing.
Whether it was winning a spar, or debuting in the social world.
Even when Carlyx’s brother gives up on everything and sets off alone, he could easily do that because he was loved by everyone.
That’s why Carlyx vowed not to treat his knights differently.
Carlyx, who organized his thoughts, turned his head. His gaze briefly touched Daisy’s knee.
Soon, the candle went out and the darkness quickly obstructed the view.
Carlyx, lying down on the bed, turned toward Daisy.
The blonde woman who sleep peacefully was impressive and strange at the same time.
“…Why do you trust my ability so much?”
He couldn’t understand her until the very end.
Daisy was a noblewoman who was unrelated to the Knighty Order. She probably only heard a little from the rumors.
‘Even if Tyler told her everything, it’s still hard to believe her just based on that. I don’t know if I should trust her or not.’
He become furious each time Daisy spoke, and soon he stopped being angry, but it wasn’t because her appeal worked.
Both her hands and legs trembled under the pressure of his murderous aura, but she did not collapse.
He had never seen anyone this desperate.
Her desperate plea made him want to apologize, but he quickly abandoned that idea, thinking that he must be out of his mind.
‘It’s not for me. She’s doing it for her own goal.’
The image of Daisy, who was holding a wooden sword, came to his mind.
That memory was blurred by the dreary conversation they were having next.
‘Let’s just forget it.’
“You’re going to lose this time, Daisy.”
He would never win against Xandarvan in single combat.
That was the case in the past and his body remembered it clearly.
That was the reality.

“Madam, Count Rifai and Viscount Ashin are here.”
“Okay, I will go now.”
Daisy put the letters down and got up from her seat.
The desk in her study was full of similar letters that Carlyx saw a few days ago.
Not far from it was a notebook filled with a report of small talks and gossips.
“Are all the servants ready?”
“Yes, madam. They’re all ready to welcome the guests.”
Logan had visited her last time, but she served him personally since the maid incident hadn’t happened.
Which meant it was officially the first time for her to welcome Logan and Jeffrey as a noble. And it was also the first time the Marquisate of Jean greeted the nobility with courtesy.
“Let’s go.”
As soon as Daisy went out, in front of the entrance door, she could see the housekeeper and maids standing in a row. There was no chef because it was a formal occasion.
Everyone wore neat attires and straightened their backs. Therefore, the preparation was complete.
‘They’ve been working so hard ever since I promised them with a recommendation letter.’
Now it’d be difficult to find this kind of servant in the aristocratic world.
Of course, considering their personality, this would be only temporary. Still, this situation was beneficial for now.
Soon, when the door opened, Logan and Jeffrey came in. They wore fancy attire.
“Wow. What’s this? Is this really the Marquessate I know?” Logan admired, his eyes were wide open.
Logan looked at Daisy and smiled broadly.
“My ally! How have you been? Why did you call me anyway?”
Daisy just nodded at his playfulness. It seemed like he wanted to speak comfortably from now on ever since they agreed to become allies.
“I called you because I want to help the knights who go to war soon.”
Logan patted Daisy on the shoulder. His eyes were full of expectations.
On the other hand, Jeffrey muttered sarcastically.
“I wonder what else could help a knight who goes to war besides training.”
He came here as a nobleman, not as the knight of Zistanter. He was allowed to speak his mind without minding other people too much.
“Then, please come this way.”
Daisy, who guessed Joffrey’s mind, smiled relaxedly.
She led them to a place that was rarely used in the mansion. It was the reception room.
A splendid table that goes well with the fancy wallpaper. A delicate sky-blue sofa adorned with golden patterns. Fresh flowers enliven the view, and refreshments were also prepared to entertain the tongue.
“What is this? Am I really being treated like this here?”
Logan couldn’t stop chattering as he looked around. The dull wallpaper was polished, and the flawed spots were covered.
It felt like a completely different place.
“What’s so amazing about it? We also have a reception room in our mansion.”
“Right. We have a reception room in our respective mansion, but we used it regularly, unlike this place. This room used to be so dusty that I wondered if it turned into a storage room.”’
“It’s very old-fashioned. Wouldn’t it be better for you to stop looking around like that? I feel uncomfortable looking at you.”
Even Jeffrey, who kept complaining, was actually surprised inside.
‘Are those mean and selfish servants actually do their job right?’
To have such a significant change in a short period of time, bribing them wouldn’t be enough, so there must be another method.
‘I don’t know what she did, but I don’t think this is normal.’
“Have a seat.”
Logan gladly sat down right away, and Jeffrey sat down with discomfort on his face. Tyler poured the tea into their glasses.
Perfection. It was a warm reception that respected them as noble.
“If you need anything else-”
“Yes, can I just talk to you? Wow. I’m really impressed. I’ve seen Tyler for so long, but I’ve never seen him serving us like this.”
“Again, this is something normal. No need to be so impressed.”
Logan stepped on Jeffrey’s foot as Jeffrey couldn’t stop making snarky remarks since earlier.
‘Where did the broken table go? Is Marquisate Jean really improved now?’
“Sir Jeffrey is right. This is something normal.” Daisy responded elegantly.
“However, as Sir Logan said, it took time for this place to change because the Marquisate is naturally overlooked by the society.”
“Are you blaming the circumstances?”
Even though he knew it was true, Jeffrey asked sharply. Perhaps because he wanted to test her.
“If I don’t blame the circumstances, who should I blame then?”
Daisy’s eyes bent to a half-moon beautifully. Jeffrey paused after realizing the meaning of her words.
‘She’s telling me to shut my mouth unless I want to curse at my captain.’
Since they weren’t in a public place, Jeffrey decided to be straightforward.
“It is hard to blame it all on Sir Carlyx in this matter. How about you, Lady Daisy? Aren’t you the one who deliberately overlooked the standard procedures?”
Tak.
Daisy put down the teacup she had a sip of.
“It’s true that the risk is high since Carlyx is a person of high status. We’re here today to lower that risk, so let’s not raise our voices.”
“I’ve never raised my voice. And I must hear the answer as a noble who wants to maintain a close relationship with the Marquisate of Jean.”
