“Can you come to the Duke’s instead of me, Sera?”
“Yes?”
Sera blinked her eyes.
“It’s not difficult, but you don’t need to go that far—”
“That’s how I feel at ease. Young Master must be feeling lonely in the world right now.”
Sera received my small necklace, which was nothing less than my fortune.
“It’s not much, but please sell it to a jewelry store so that I may pay my respects.”
“…..”
Sera had a tearful expression on her face as she stared at me. Her simple eyes were filled with emotion.
“Princess…”
“Of course, it will not be insignificant, but the communication of the heart is important.”
Having had a parent image, I know how weak a person becomes when he or she is sad.
Ridan is now just left to be strong as the future Duke at the end of the funeral.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t pay you a visit in person, and I’m sure the Duke went to a nice place. It will be difficult, but life will continue on.”
Sera nodded slowly.
******
A Duke whose mourners have all fled. Ridan stood there in the rain, staring blankly, as if he was out of his mind.
Then he got condolences from Sera, who arrived late and with a puzzled expression.
“Where did you get this? Princess Elsia won’t have the money.”
“She had a necklace. That’s the money she got by selling it.”
“She didn’t have to—”
Ridan muttered blankly.
Sera continued, shaking her head.
“She was concerned that the Young Master could feel lonely in the world. She regrets not being able to come in person, and she wishes to tell the Young Master that the Duke would have gone to a nice place.”
“Did the Princess say that?” Seeing Sera nod silently, Ridan sighed.
No one was moved to tears at his father’s funeral today. Even this way, some individuals believed that Ridan’s ascension as Duke would be a better outcome for the Duke.
“Well, it’s not unexpected—”
“Just because you’re prepared doesn’t mean you’re not sad; I’m sure you’ll keep back your sadness, so I should go see.”
Ridan stared blankly into the sky. As Elsia pointed out, he hasn’t even cried all day today.
“It’ll be difficult, but she also said that’s how life would continue on.”
“….I see.”
By Sera’s words, Ridan seemed to know why he had visited Elsia so far. It was the first time for him to say that he didn’t have to be polite in front of someone or that he could be honest.
That has never been mentioned to him. Everyone was praising the Duke’s future since Ridan was doing well.
He had a hazy desire to save the family, but once he was with her, he felt at ease. She was buried in her one and only hilarious dress, but she didn’t wallow in self-pity.
Rather, she was a person who showed surprising wit for her goals.
But the goal is to go to the countryside—.
“Please say thank you—”
Ridan choked up thinking of Elsia’s red eyes.
“Really, thank you.”
Ridan was overcome with emotion and was unable to speak clearly.
‘I told you I had to mature at a young age.’
He bowed his head and closed his eyes.
Of course, he was aware that Artise’s condition was terrible.
He can’t believe she’s comforting him despite the fact that she’s in a lot worse situation than he is.
He has always been prepared to lead the family on his own since he was a child. He also believed he was stronger than everyone else at the time.
He assumed the process was entirely for his benefit, yet he didn’t feel lonely for some reason.
“I’ll give her your message. Then, I’ll go back to the Princess”
Ridan politely greeted her and gazed blankly at Sera’s back, as if he were staring at Elsia.
Although he couldn’t see her face, his heart was moved by her decision to send her one and only maid.
Ridan recognized at this point that his heart was entirely open to Elsia.
*******
Ixion’s subjugation in Artise was nearly complete.
Elsia’s information was correct, and Ixion was able to command the war more efficiently as a result of it.
It was also unexpected that the war would be over in such a short period of time.
He felt awful for a second after putting the sword straight into Decan’s heart, staring into the same red eyes as Elsia.
After the king’s death, surrender continued everywhere the imperial army went.
The Artise dynasty has come to an end.
The Marquis Evgeny provided so much proof of the suspected assassination of the imperial family that the conquest was perfectly justified.
However, it was all found by Marquis Evgeny, and it was observed that the name of Princess Elsia was not mentioned anywhere. It was Ixion’s decision, worried that something bad would happen to Elsia.
It was an unavoidable choice for her safety, desiring freedom over honor.
It was only a matter of time before the war ended, and he intended to set her free as soon as possible.
“It must be hard at the palace.”
Ixion mumbled gently to himself.
“I’m sure the palace servant will be petty, and she’ll be lonely because she has no guests.”
The maid that she had appeared a little awkward, but he was always anxious.
The aristocracy’s cooperation was needed if she was to leave the palace without a problem. In the first place, he had no expectations of Elsia, a foreign royal princess who was imprisoned.
Ixion wrote a letter to the Marquis of Evgeny the day he killed Decan.
*******
Marchioness Evgeny paid a visit to Ixion’s camp a few days after the great battle in which Decan, King of Artise, was killed, saying to be bringing medical supplies.
“Mother!”
Niel, a volunteer wizard in the army, ran on horse.
“Why did you choose to come to the battlefield? It’s quite a distance from Marquis.”
“I’ve heard that all of the major fights have ended. Don’t be concerned; it’s not dangerous.”
Marchioness Evgeny, Mela sighed deeply at her first son, Niel.
Blue hair swaying in the wind and golden eyes bending smoothly were beautiful even to her, the mother.
Early on, he was considered the next state of the magic tower, and was a great wizard who made a remarkable contribution to this war.
Mela, on the other hand, has been troubled by Niel.
“Good. Take me with you this time, Mother. In any case, the war is finished, and all we have to do now is to deal with it.”
Niel whistled as he examined the goods Mela had brought with him.
“I’m confident you’ll be able to help me out of this situation. Is it reasonable to send this beautiful youth to the battlefield? I haven’t gone on a date in over a month.”
“What, a month? You didn’t go to war two months ago, did you?”
“They might have used a few more knights here—”
Niel replied naturally to Mela’s pathetic question.
“The two people were caught working at the same time, and rumors spread throughout the barracks—”
“Ah…… Oh, you can’t even collect this sort of thing… Isn’t it time to get your act together, son?”
Niel Evgeny, Marquis Evgeny’s first spirit and Magic Tower wizard, was well-known for his woman’s side.
It hasn’t been long since the sixth engagement was called off, but he’s been a dramatist on the battlefield—.
Mela pressed her brow on her clumsy son.
No one could push Marquis Evgeny’s son’s lightness after he fell.
“And the one who gives up his beautiful youth for the sake of the battlefield is now Prince Ixion. You did not apply for two months.”
“Oh, I’ll admit it.”
Niel sighed and shrugged his shoulders. He trembled wildly and exaggeratedly.
“I truly believe Prince Ixion is insane. No, I’m not capable of mastering war in this way. I was taken aback. Artise’s downfall was simply a matter of time, but in two months— He isn’t a real person.”
Mela agrees with that statement.
Niel continued to talk with more excitement as Mela nodded.
“It’s the first place I’ve seen in my life, but of course I’ve mastered the terrain— He was aware of all the pitfalls and key strategies. If I hadn’t been a great wizard, I would have thought he know magic.”
“Yeah, you’re great.”
“Oh, come to think of it, there’s something I’ve forgotten.”
Niel claps his fingers back and forth.
And in accordance with the manners, he smiled while showing his performance that he would escort Mela.
“The Prince is waiting, Mother. Let’s go to the Prince.”
Mela sighed as she looked at her son with his voice down as if he were in a play.
“Pathetic, you should have said that as soon as you met me.”
“What haven’t I forgotten. So—”
Niel grinned as he led his mother’s hand.
“Don’t forget to get me out of here. You must ask the Prince later.”
******
“Congratulations on your victory, Prince.”
Mela greeted in elegance.
Even though the big battle was done, Ixion appeared calm, but the unusual vitality of the person who saw a lot of blood still gave off a strange, scary vibe.
Even if someone said it was an inhuman battle spirit, Mela knew Ixion was a very reasonable and personable leader.
‘Even if Niel only resembles half of the Prince..’
“Thank you for supporting medical supplies.”
“It’s going to be a great help in cleaning up the war. I’ll use it well.”
Ixion’s words quickly caught up with his deputy Aiden.
Niel coughed in hope that Mela would bring up early discharge.
But Mela didn’t say anything, and Ixion said bluntly.
“Would it be okay to look around? I have something to say—.”
“Of course.”
In Mela’s reply, Niel looked at her with a look of resentment.
But Mela didn’t even look at him, and in the end Niel had no choice but to go out of the barracks.
