- Chapter 25 - I Didn’t Save You To Get Proposed To Chapter 25
“Your body has already specialized in this world’s mana. Perhaps, just as black magic is naturally rooted in the body, divine magic can be learned quickly. Niel can teach you this. Don’t tell him you changed your soul, of course. There isn’t anything good for you.”
Rebecca suddenly clapped once more.
Niel entered through the open door.
“Lord of the Wizard Tower! I brought her here, but I can’t hear what you’re saying!”
Niel went berserk and became angry.
“Because this is the first time I’ve ever been interested in magic!”
“Isn’t it just because you’re unfamiliar with the area?”
Rebecca smiled, as if she was having a good time.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the magic of another world in person.”
“What if you’re having fun by yourself?”
‘Fun. Oh, my God. Personality—’
I drew my arms across my chest and stared at Niel.
I’m confused by the news that I’m going to be a devil monster, but you treat me like a test subject.
When I thought about it, I realized that this was something Niel did naturally.
I was the first ‘research project’ that he saw.
Rebecca said, casually ignoring Niel’s anger.
“How long does it take to teach divine magic to her?”
“She’s already spreading Mana throughout her body. She can learn divine magic quickly because she has previously used black magic. But why made her do it—”
“Her body has already been contaminated by black magic.”
Rebecca said roughly as she pointed at me.
“She must use divine magic on a constant schedule.”
“Oh, is that so? Are you referring to purification?”
“Yes, if you don’t keep purifying it, it’ll most likely become a ruin.”
“…What?”
Niel appeared taken aback by the words.
It must have been terrifying for a wizard like Niel to learn that someone has turned into a monster.
Rebecca continued with a serious expression.
“Isn’t there a place like a monster subjugation site? Teach divine magic and send some volunteer work.”
“Ah, that’s—”
Niel quickly drooped his shocked look, shrugging as if it wasn’t difficult.
“The Marquis informed me that the Knights of Feltron were on their way to subjugate the monster. Is it necessary for us to sleep far away? Now that Prince Ixion is willing to deal with the monster, the battle will be fiercer than before.”
Niel will regret his statements sooner or later.
******
I performed a few yoga techniques in front of Rebecca and Niel, and Niel tried to copy me on the spot, but it wasn’t the same.
“This is your assignment, Niel.”
Rebecca stated unconcernedly.
“This is the only black magic trail in the world right now. There is no Artise royalty left. In other words, you’re the only subject of observation.”
Subject of observation— I have to admit that I didn’t like the word. It’s not a natural monument on the verge of extinction.
‘However, in the eyes of a wizard, I am a very rare specimen.’
In fact, I’ve already been on Niel’s research monster.
When I turned into a devil monster, Niel would lock me up in a Wizard Tower, conduct various experiments, and keep a research journal.
He said it with an excited look.
“It’s a record that won’t be heard again on the Wizard Tower. Stick together and keep a journal of your observations.”
“Yes, Of course. Every day, I must examine the change pattern.”
The response was very mild.
‘Was Niel a great listener?’
He appeared to have become much more serious, possibly due to his own interests rather than the orders of the Lord of Wizard Tower.
He continued with an interesting yet cautious look.
“Do I have to keep track of how much purification she performs each time she uses divine magic? It will even change if it begins to transform into a monster.”
“Everything, including the oddities, is correct. I could also have overlooked something. Except for the wizards, they’re extremely hesitant to perform black magic, so they’re naturally top secret.”
“Of course,” she says.
Niel responded quickly. His golden eyes glowed with excitement. He appeared to be pleased.
“Wait— you won’t be able to meet girls if you stay with me?”
“It doesn’t matter.”
He shrugged his shoulders.
“I just happened to run into them because I was bored. This side is a lot more fun. Nothing can compete with the wizard’s curiosity.”
‘Really? Well, then, do whatever you want.’
While I was at it, I asked what I kept thinking about.
“I’ve only ever talked to one person about black magic. I say that the Artise royal family can use black magic.”
“Really? To whom?”
“Is there any chance Prince Ixion will notice my condition? Wouldn’t he kill me if he knew I could be consumed by black magic and turned into a monster?”
Rebecca responded in a casual tone.
“So, first of allt, we must continue to use divine magic. Niel, everyday you have to observe the flow of mana.”
When I couldn’t shake my anxiety, Rebecca shook her hands as if I had nothing to worry about.
“The general public cannot see the flow of mana. You don’t have to be concerned because even a wizard as powerful as Niel won’t notice if you sit still.”
“Is it true? But Prince Ixion is a man who goes out to fight evil—”
“Then you might notice it if you make a lot of progress to monster—”
“Ah—”
“But I don’t think so right now. How much do ordinary people understand about the devil’s energy? It’s difficult to feel that energy unless you kill it completely.”
I quickly burst into tears. What is it that killed half of the monsters in this world if it isn’t that person?
I kept doubting Rebecca, no matter how many times she said no.
He had no reason to propose or stop her from going to the Wizard Tower if he didn’t notice it.
‘Are you saying I shouldn’t go to the tower and suffer for nothing? Do you believe the person who will be with you until the end is better?’
For some reason, I was told not to fight and to die at his hands when the monster form appears.
The specimens I had seen earlier in the Wizard Tower were floating around in my head.
It was not a pleasant death to have all of my organs dismantled and stored as research materials in the Wizard Tower.
It could be argued that I suffered even after I died as a result of being trapped in the tower for no reason.
Niel grabbed my hand as if he was excited, not knowing how I felt.
“Come on, let’s go learn divine magic. The Knights of Feltron must have already arrived at Marquis.”
*****
Unlike when I first arrived, I was able to watch this and that on my way down the tower.
The tower was more fascinating and terrifying than anything I’d ever seen before.
Various specimens were lined up on the wall, with beautiful jewels embedded here and there, just like an anatomical scene from a horror film.
A wizard was even present to observe the strangely grown plants.
“Wizards. They refer to them as souls out of curiosity. I don’t think there’s anything better than staying here and researching interesting topics.”
Niel said proudly as he looked around frantically at me.
“And how about you?”
As I climbed the stairs, I asked.
“Why aren’t you in the Wizard Towers? What’s the point of your wandering?”
“My talent is exceptional, but—”
It was also a unique scene to brag about oneself in such an objective way.
“Unfortunately, I haven’t found any interesting research topics yet, so they’re only embedded in the tower.”
“Up to this point?”
“I believe I have it now.”
Niel smiled and grinned.
“You.”
The smile was lovely, but it was creepy because there were various specimens lined up in the background.
“If I had known about black magic, mana-pulsing breathing, and strange posture— I would have infiltrated Artizee’s palace before it was destroyed.”
He said, as if he truly felt sorry for himself.
I trembled as I imagined the wizard observing the strange plants with a serious expression on the world.
For Niel, I was no different than the rest of the floating specimens.
As we climbed a few more floors, we noticed many machines we had never seen before that were no longer specimens.
“Ah, Elsia.”
Niel stood excitedly in front of a giant mirror.
“Do you want me to show you something interesting? This is what I was making.”
“What is this?”
“It’s a mirror where you can talk face to face.”
According to Niel’s explanation, it was a mirror that enabled video calls in words.
It would make a lot of money if properly commercialized, but it was a waste to be rotting in the tower.
It would be quite useful here if we didn’t have a phone, but Niel has set this wonderful function up incorrectly from the start.
“By the way— only noble girls can connect.”
“What?”
“I made it to play with girls when I was in the tower anyway.”
“Oh my— You’re really never change.”
“I’ve used it a few times and left it alone. It doesn’t last that long.”
Niel drooped his shoulders and sighed.
“If you want to contact a noble young lady, or if you want to see her face at least once you can use it.”
“May I?”
In fact, when Niel mentioned using the mirror, I immediately thought of someone.
“You know Young Lady Irene Geoffrey? Can you connect it?”
“Just when she’s in the room.”
Niel stood in front of the mirror and began to write with his fingers one after another.
「Elsia Evgeny is trying to connect.」
“This will now appear in the Young Lady’s mirror. Acceptance will be delivered if you ask for it with your voice. And since I can’t hear your conversation with the Young Lady, feel free to say whatever you want.”
I stood in front of the mirror and said when I learned how to use it.
“It’s me, Irene! If you say yes, you’ll see me in the mirror. This is the Wizard Tower.”
「Connecting」
After a while, Irene’s face appeared in the mirror.
“Wow, it’s amazing!”
Irene and I both screamed at the same time in front of the mirror.
Niel had already moved away from me, fiddling with another machine.
It was as if he couldn’t hear what I was saying to Irene.
[What happened, Elsia? This is the first time I’ve heard of anything like it! Isn’t there something like this in the tower?]
“Niel Evgeny, my older brother, took me to the tower. That’s why I called you.”
[If it’s Wizard Niel, I’m familiar with him.]
Irene folded her arms and nodded slowly, as if she understood.
[The man whose have rings five times every time he comes up to the capital.]
“You didn’t cry, did you?”
[The only thing that can make me cry is money]
“How are you? You’re busy these days, haven’t you?”
[Yeah. I started a clothing business and I have so much to pay attention to. Elsia, you look prettier than when you were in the capital. How are you doing?
I didn’t know where to start and how to say it, but I just chose to smile.
