“We won!”
All players from the City of Hope Alliance cheered out loud.
The Summit of Heroes Alliance was absolutely crushed; even their territory was seized by the City of Hope Alliance. The area occupied by the City of Hope Alliance had almost doubled, taking up a fifth of all Doomsday City.
“Hmph, we told you to merge, but you refused. Now you’re the stray dogs you deserve to be!” Li Ke’er sat at the head of the conference table, waving her small fists in the air, venting her resentment.
“Wang Qi!” Li Ke’er suddenly turned her head and shouted at him.
Wang Qi shivered involuntarily. He was afraid whenever the little tyrant called his name; every call always meant trouble.
“Little tyrant, I mean, leader, what’s your order?” Wang Qi replied helplessly.
Li Ke’er, drumming her fingers on the table, frowned and said, “I’ve urged you countless times. When are you going to collect all the magic materials for the Transmission Array? Old Wallace can’t wait any longer. Without creating a Transmission Array, how can we upgrade the city or maintain our position as the top alliance?”
Wallace, sitting at the conference table, remained silent with an innocent look on his face, feeling like a bystander.
“Damn, didn’t we just talk about this this morning? There’s no way I could pull this off in such a short time, even if you sold me!” Wang Qi nearly fainted in frustration.
“Hmph, useless. If Song Jian was here, he would’ve collected all these magic materials by now.” Li Ke’er rolled her eyes and said disdainfully.
Wang Qi felt a lump in his chest and was speechless for a while. Finally, he managed to choke out, “Even if our leader were here, he couldn’t gather all these magic materials either. These are items banned from trading in all cities!”
Suddenly, a voice echoed in the conference room.
“Well, that’s not necessarily true!” Song Jian walked in. He had absolute control within the entire territory, and could freely access anywhere and could set permissions for others.
“Song Jian!” Li Ke’er jumped up from her chair and pounced on Song Jian, “You finally came back, I was really worried something happened to you!”
“Leader!”
“Lord Leader!”
…
All the people in the meeting, started saluting to Song Jian. Wang Qi was incredibly excited. Since Song Jian left, everyone seemed to lose their confidence despite the smooth growth of the City of Hope Alliance.
Song Jian took a look around the room. There were some faces he recognized and some that were new. As the City of Hope Alliance expanded, there seemed to be more and more management personnel.
After walking naturally to the head of the conference table, Song Jian laughed and said to Li Ke’er, “Ke’er, introduce me to everyone.”
Seeing Li Ke’er sitting at the head of the conference table, Song Jian realized that this elementary school girl was now in charge of the City of Hope Alliance.
Li Ke’er introduced everyone Song Jian didn’t recognize. Just as Song Jian thought, they were managers in charge of different duties.
“Hey? Where’s my Beastman slave? Why don’t I see him?” Song Jian asked with a frown.
The Beastman Warrior he was referring to was the one he had enslaved using the Abyss Temptation spell. However, Song Jian hadn’t seen him during the territory expansion war nor the present meeting.
Theoretically, the Beastman Warrior was entitled to sit in the conference room based on his strength.
“Are you referring to the Beastman Warrior you brought back last time?” Li Ke’er asked.
“Yes, him,” Song Jian replied with a nod.
“Hmph, ever since you brought these sorts of riffraff to our Alliance, one of them has disappeared without a trace. We thought he was lost and went to great lengths to find him but to no avail.” Li Ke’er said indignantly.
Once Song Jian left Doomsday City, the Beastman Warrior began acting erratically.
Not long after, the Beastman Warrior ran away. Some people saw him in other parts of Doomsday City.
Song Jian’s face darkened. The flaw of the Abyss Temptation spell became increasingly apparent. While it has a high success rate, if the tamed slave doesn’t stay with the master for a long period, there’s a big chance of betrayal.
Song Jian glanced at Wallace, another recruit he’d brought in. However, his performance had consistently been excellent. After Song Jian appointed him to supervise the Magic Tower, he became even more active. His attendance at this meeting was proof enough that he had truly become one of them.
“Where’s the doctor?” Song Jian asked.
“Doctor Ebsiting spends all day in the lab. Besides when he comes out to eat, we never see him,” Li Ke’er complained. “At one point, during a territory expansion war, a thief from an opposition alliance sneaked into Manor Castle. If not for the Bloody Ghost Poison Tree that detected his presence, Dr. Ebsiting might have been assassinated.”
Song Jian was startled. Someone had infiltrated his Manor Castle? Among all the territories controlled by the alliance, Manor Castle had the tightest defenses. Not only did it have a Bloody Ghost Poison Tree, but also numerous Bloody Ravens, Bloody Wolves, and NPC soldiers guarding the castle.
Despite such strong defenses, someone still managed to sneak in. It appeared there were quite a few proficient players amongst them.
“All of Doctor’s needs have to be met immediately. He is a treasure of our alliance,” Song Jian said solemnly. “His safety is of paramount importance, and we must protect Dr. Ebsiting at all costs.”
“By the way, what were you discussing before I came in? About constructing a Transmission Array?” Song Jian asked with a laugh.
“Yeah, the territory of our alliance has already expanded to its limit at Level 6 Manor. If we want to expand further, we must upgrade to a Level 1 City. However, to upgrade to a Level 1 City, we need a special structure like a Transmission Array. Wallace knows how to build it, but we lack the magic materials needed. It’s really troubling us.” Li Ke’er sighed like an adult and glanced towards Wang Qi. Then, she shook her head.
Wang Qi: “So it’s my fault, huh?”
“Enough. Don’t worry anymore. I’ve already gathered all the materials needed to construct the Transmission Array.” Song Jian glanced at Wallace. He was always worried about finding someone who knew how to build the array, and unexpectedly, Wallace was capable of it.
However, thinking about it, Wallace used to be a Tier 1 wizard and belonged to a large magic organization. The knowledge about constructing a Transmission Array could only be kept a secret from outsiders but, among the wizards who researched magic daily, this information wouldn’t be kept so secretive.
Seeing Song Jian throwing a small pouch onto the conference table, Li Ke’er dove to check its contents immediately.
“Ha ha, it’s all here. What do you say to that, Wang Qi?” Li Ke’er proudly held up the storage bag.
Wang Qi: “…”
