Xia Changyue took the contract from the table. She didn’t tear it up immediately. Instead, she stared at it for a long time.
She remembered clearly when she received the contract, one of her new scripts was written on it. However, someone had them switched when they signed the contract.
She must get to the bottom of this. What really happened…
She pondered for a while, then took the contract and walked toward the changing room.
Just as she was about to take off the French maid’s costume, she found her own clothes missing.
“They were here earlier. Where are they now?”
She remembered that she left them on the chair in the changing room. She had put them there herself. Why were they missing in such a short time?
Xia Changyue searched everywhere in the enormous changing room. She finally found shreds of cloth that resembled her clothes in the trash bin.
“This must be an illusion. This must be an illusion.”
Why were her clothes in the trash bin and were even shredded…
Xia Changyue stared at the plain fabrics in front of her with her eyes and mouth wide open. She couldn’t gather her wits for quite a while.
After a long time, she lowered her head and looked at the french maid costume on her.
Thus, this was what she had to wear to go home now?
Xia Changyue began to pull a long face. One could also start to see the anger in her eyes.
Damn Yan Chengchi!
It must be his instructions. No one else would trouble Xia Changyue like this.
Wasn’t it enough to starve her for an entire day? He even had to humiliate her like this!? What a lousy man!
If she had to wear the French maid costume, then so be it. It was just a loss of face. It was alright since she had plenty of self-esteem. It would not hurt her.
When Xia Changyue had mentally prepared herself, she put the contract in her bag, turned around, and started to walk out of the restaurant.
She stopped in her tracks when she reached the door.
She looked at the crowd out there and then looked at the French maid costume on her again. She swallowed hard.
She would be a laughing stock if she wore this on the bus.
Xia Changyue thought for a while and went back into the restaurant. She removed a tablecloth and wrapped it around her. She then gathered her courage and stepped out of the restaurant to hail a taxi.
She tolerated the weird looks the driver gave her all the way back to her apartment. Xia Changyue had cursed Yan Chengchi from his head to his toes in her heart.
She quickly opened the car door and ran toward her apartment after paying the driver.
She only took a few steps when her phone rang.
It was a ringtone that indicated a notification on her phone.
Xia Changyue instinctively stopped and took out the phone from her bag.
It was a strange phone number.
There was only an arrogant sentence in the message, “You have one night to pack your bags; you will move tomorrow.”
What rubbish message was this?
Didn’t the scammers use their brains now?
She was doing fine in her place. Why would she want to move?
Xia Changyue threw the phone back into her bag and hurried toward the apartment. She halted after a few steps.
She quickly dug out the phone from her bag and opened the message again.
Before she could finish reading it, the phone received a new message.
This time, it only contained a long address.
It was the address of a villa.
Xia Changyue stiffened with a dazed expression.
Was this what she was thinking?
Were these messages from Yan Chengchi?
Did he intend to force her to move in with him?
Xia Changyue’s hand that was holding the phone began to shake. She bit her lips, and there was a sign of panic in her eyes.
She knew she would be better off staying away from Yan Chengchi, but would Yan Chengchi leave her alone?
No matter where she hid in G city, she wouldn’t be able to escape his sphere of influence.
Xia Changyue stared at the phone for a long time. Then she moved her fingers and replied, “Alright.”
