Chapter 28 Bonesetting
Ye Yan rushed out, scaring his grandpa so much that the latter’s face turned green. The cold wind blew so hard that he couldn’t open his eyes, so he had to hold his grandson’s shoulder tightly.
He didn’t know that the wind was stirred up by his grandson. He thought it was natural wind and was thus worried about Ye Yan’s small body, so he said hurriedly, “Grandson, quickly put me down. Your small body can’t carry me!”
However, Ye Yan completely ignored his grandpa’s words. He carried his grandpa and started to speed up.
After a few days of rapid mountain climbing training, Ye Yan could run very steadily even in the mud and in the rain. He never swayed, so the old man didn’t feel the bumpiness of the road at all.
Old Master Ye closed his eyes, thinking that the Liu family was still far away. However, not long after, Ye Yan’s voice sounded in his ears, “Grandpa, we’re here.”
Old Master Ye was confused. When he was placed on the ground, he was still in a daze. Only the time to make a pot of tea had passed, but he was already carried to the Liu family’s gates from home? Moreover, it was his eight-year-old grandson who carried him while running so fast. The whole matter was just strange.
“Oh my, we’ve really arrived. Grandson, you’re really fast!” Since Ye Yan could run so fast at such a distance, the old man was relieved. In the future, even if this little rascal couldn’t defeat others when he caused trouble, he could
run.
The two of them went into the house to check on Liu Yi’s condition. Then, Old Master Ye took out the medicinal wine that he always carried with him. He poured the medicinal wine on his hands, rubbed his hands, then spread the medicine evenly on Liu Yi, allowing the
medicine to up.
“Grandson, help this young man up.”
Ye Yan carefully helped Liu Yi to lie on the edge of the bed. Old Master Ye didn’t dawdle and started to feel Liu Yi’s arm. After a long time, he finally heaved a sigh of relief, “This child is lucky. Although his bone is fractured, it’s not serious. Most of it is just dislocated.”
After he finished speaking, he grabbed Liu Yi’s arms and took a few deep breaths. Then, he roared in a low voice and exerted force.
“Crack!”
Ye Yan’s heart skipped a beat, he was a little scared.
“Next…” Grandpa Ye applied some medicinal wine to his hands again, rubbing it on Liu Yi’s broken arm.
“Grandpa, it’s done?” Ye Yan found it hard to believe that the old master was so quick.
The old master said slowly, “That’s right. The bone setting has been completed. It will take 100 days for injured tendons and bones to recover. Next, we have to wait for his bones to slowly heal. The bone setting is to prevent the bones from growing crooked. Sister Liu!”
Upon hearing the call, Widow Liu quickly replied, “What’s wrong, Uncle Liu?”
“Fortunately, your child’s condition is not serious. Tell him to rest well for the next 100 days and not to exercise too much. I can’t do
anything if his wound tears up again.”
Widow Liu was very touched. She nodded repeatedly to thank Old Master Ye, “Thank you,
Uncle Ye. I’ll keep an eye on him. Thank you so much for coming over so late to help us…”
“Alright, alright!” Grandpa ye smiled kindly, “Everyone in the village is a friend. Which family doesn’t have any problems? Since we see each other all the time, let’s not say these polite words anymore. It’s late. Sister Liu, take care of yourself too. Look, the child will be catching a cold. Grandson, time to go. Let’s go back to sleep!”
The old master pointed at Liu Qian who was sneezing not far away, telling Widow Liu to pay
attention to herself and her child. Then he turned around and left, not forgetting to pull Ye Yan’s ear on the way out.
“Hey, grandpa, be gentle. It’s going to tear!” Widow Liu hurriedly handed the oil-paper umbrella to Grandpa Ye, and the two of them slowly left with the umbrella. On the way back, Grandpa Ye’s kind expression suddenly became serious. He asked in a low voice, “Grandson, what’s up with that brat from the Liu family? His arm doesn’t seem to be a normal bone fracture. It seems like he was hit.”
It was normal that grandpa didn’t know about the Liu family’s matter since the commotion had not spread to the Ye family. As such, Ye Yan told him what happened but didn’t tell him what he did. He only said that Eldest Uncle Liu left under pressure from many sides. Either way, whether he told his grandpa or not, the villagers would spread the news in the future. “I see, that guy is indeed a beast,” Grandpa Ye was about to comment when he suddenly looked at Ye Yan, “Grandson, how come you don’t even have a drop of water on you after running all the way with me on your back?” I’m finished! Ye Yan’s heart turned cold. He was too anxious and forgot about this. What should he do now that his grandpa asked? In such a critical moment, he lowered his head and pondered for a moment. Then, he made a decisive decision: Run!
With a stomp of his foot, his body swayed and he disappeared. Goodbye, grandpa! “Grandpa, I forgot that I haven’t chopped the
firewood at home. I’ll be leaving first!” In just a moment, Ye Yan’s figure left Grandpa Ye far behind.
“This brat, he’s running so fast!” Looking at Ye Yan running as fast as a thief, the old master smiled helplessly, “This kid can run quite fast
huh…”
As he walked, he suddenly stopped, “That little
rascal tricked me! Who does chores in the middle of the night?!”
The next day. The rain lasted for the entire
night and only stopped at sunrise. Under the
sun’s rays, almost every tree was hung with dewdrops.
Ye Yan got up when the sun had just come out.
He didn’t know why he was hiding, but he hurriedly cast an Impurity Removal spell on himself, then drank a mouthful of water, took a sweet potato, and ran out of the door.
He had to run, right? Last night, he had suddenly run out after dinner without saying a word and had not returned for the entire night.
He felt that he would be beaten up by Ye Dahai just because of these actions.
After the villagers spread the news about what
happened in the Liu family, God knows what
the news would turn out to be by the time it reached Ye Dahai’s ears. Ye Yan started pondering how to explain himself when he went home tonight.
As he ran, he passed by the Liu family’s house
and happened to meet Widow Liu, who was out for a breather. He slowed down and said, “Aunt
Liu, how was Brother Scar last night? Is he alright?”
“He’s fine. He looks much better,” Widow Liu
said, but her face was full of worry, “But Xiao Qian caught a cold. She suddenly had a fever just now and her body temperature is a little cold. I have to take her to the physician as soon as possible. Xiao Yan, can you help me look after Yi?”
Ye Yan didn’t refuse and agreed. Widow Liu took her family’s savings and brought Liu Qian to the village entrance. The village chief’s ox-cart was there to transport people.
In precaution for the villagers in cases of
emergency need to go to town, Shen Tong had specially set up an ox-cart at the village
entrance. The ox was from the village head. His son, Shen Bo, was also there to transport people for free.
Generally speaking, the cart was a waste. After
all, the people of Dumen Village generally did not go far, unless they went to the town market. However, most people would pay a few copper coins no matter what. Although it was
just a small sum, no one wanted to take advantage of the village chief’s family.
