Chapter 115
As the meeting was all over, Iellie and Zachary slipped out the door, and he spoke with a smile.
“Len, I didn’t know you could be so competent.”
“Oh, my God. How long have you lived with me, and have you not known my competence until now?”
Replying playfully, she smiled back at Zachary, who was looking at her, as he asked her a question.
“Would you like to eat lunch outside?”
“Aren’t you going back to the Duke’s castle right away?”
“Then, why did I follow you all the way here?”
He then hugged her shoulder lightly and whispered softly with his lips pressed against her ear before finishing his words.
“I came here to date you.”
“…That’s a remark that goes beyond my expectation, gentleman.”
“Is that so, Lady?”
The two of them giggled side by side and went on. He asked as he put Iellie into the carriage first.
“So, what would be good for lunch?”
“There is a place here that is good at cooking oysters, would you like to go?”
“Let’s go!”
Come to think of it, the North Sea was close, but she didn’t think she ate seafood very often. Recalling the fresh seafood, Iellie felt her mouth-watering.
She asked, feeling the wind tickle her cheek.
“Did you know the restaurant already?”
“Of course.”
“It reminds me of the past, you knew the cafe in advance when we went to the Asha Festival.”
At the words, she widened her eyes and gazed at Zachary with a curious face.
“At that time, we had only just met. How did you know I liked sweets?”
“Of course, I asked the people around you.”
“What?”
As he answered casually, Iellie laughed. She asked in laughter.
“Did you gather information in advance to go out with me?”
“Len.”
“What?”
Iellie tilted her head as he seriously called her name. Zachary shrugged his shoulders.
“It’s the first time you go out with a girl you like, there’s no guy who doesn’t try his best.”
“…Oh, is that so?”
“It is.”
The two of them had a lively conversation. Iellie laughed lightly. She was well aware that Zachary was taking care of her now. The fact that the Duke and his wife inspected the estate together was an act to confirm that she was the mistress of the North.
She opened her mouth again as she stared at him.
“Zachary.”
“Huh?”
“Thank you.”
With all her sincerity, she said so. Instead of asking what she was grateful for, Zachary held her tightly in his arms. Iellie stared out the window for a moment as she was cradled in his arms.
Just then.
“…Yes?”
A bewildered voice escaped through Iellie’s lips. She freaked out and slipped out of his arms.
“What, what the hell is that!”
“What?”
Zachary glances out of her window. His eyes widened. The two of them became shocked at each other.
“….”
“….”
What they were looking at was Cafe Laurent. However, it was not the Cafe Laurent they remembered.
“My eyes… it’s not weird now, right?”
“No… because I can see clearly with my own eyes…”
Zachary muttered in a disheartened voice. A banner made of cloth fluttered above the tall avenue tree planted right next to Café Laurent. The banner had this sentence written in large letters.
Iellie and Zachary felt their faces heat up. She pointed her finger at the banner and asked.
“Zachary, did you know that?”
“Of course, I didn’t know! If I knew…!”
Zachary, who raised his voice, bit his lip. Well, it was ridiculous that the Duke interfered with such promotional banners one by one. As she also fully understood her husband’s feelings, Iellie swallowed her sigh.
“Ah, when in the world did that happen? They even made a banner and hung it up…”
She felt deathly ashamed. It would have been better if she hadn’t known. He tried to comfort Iellie.
“Well, if you think positively… this means that you are the beloved Duchess…?”
“Uung, thank you…”
However, it was inevitable that her face would burn. Iellie glanced out of the window with a sidelong glance. Before she knew it, the carriage ran for a long time, and the appearance of Cafe Laurent was now out of sight.
‘But… I’m a little happy.’
Taking a deep breath, she thought so. After all, if she and Zachary hadn’t been a trusted couple in the north, people wouldn’t have been so friendly with them.
‘Still…’
That was a bit embarrassing, too.
When Iellie lowered her head again, Zachary lowered his head to meet her gaze. The two looked at each other’s faces for a while, then burst into laughter.
She had lived in the Duchy for a long time, and her marriage had lasted a long time. There was one fact that she didn’t even fully realize. Duchy Hessenweitz was an area bordered by a sea called the North Sea.
Nonetheless, it was not all her fault. The northern part was vast, and usually, the Duchy was mainly wary of the northern snowfields and mountain ranges invaded by savages and monsters though the North Sea was relatively peaceful.
“It’s not my fault.”
Iellie spoke that with a shameless face, with a luxurious raw oyster dish in front of her. Zachary laughed.
“Yes, Len. If you say so.”
“Not if I say so. It’s true.”
She flicked her fork and raised her chin proudly. She squeezed the lemon juice over the raw oysters.
“Come to think of it, Zachary, I have something I would like to suggest.”
“My lady, what other funny thoughts did you have?”
As Iellie narrowed her eyebrows at Zachary’s playful reply, she asked in an earnest voice.
“Well. Oysters are luxury food, right?”
“Yes.”
Zachary looked puzzled, but he answered her question sincerely. Seeing that, she then spoke.
“What if we could mass-produce high-quality oysters and sell them at affordable prices?”
“You mean mass-producing oysters?”
“Yes. If we can do that, wouldn’t it be a little helpful for the fishermen’s livelihood?”
All the while Iellie was eating the oyster dish, she was recalling a TV program she had seen in her previous life. It was a program called ‘7 O’Clock My Hometown’ that was aired on TV. Iellie narrowed her eyes.
‘Actually, it was a program I wasn’t interested in at all.’
Fishermen farming oysters appeared on a program she accidentally turned on while eating dinner in her room. She didn’t think much of it at the time, but she never thought she would get help this way.
Zachary was bewildered.
“How do you mass-produce oysters?”
“Well… farm.”
“Farm?”
“Yes.”
She nodded her head. In Korea, where she lived in her previous life, oysters were not a luxury food thanks to farming. She remembered foreigners eating lots of oysters whenever they came to Korea.
“Can you farm oysters?”
“Ah.”
Iellie blinked her eyes. She understands. The concept of raising sea creatures was still unfamiliar in this world. She searched for her memory as best she could. Therefore… seven o’clock in my hometown, obviously.
“As far as I know, you can thread a scallop or oyster shell through a wire and lower it to the bottom of the sea.”
‘Thank you, Seven o’clock in my hometown!’
She poured out praises for the program she had only watched half-heartedly.
“That’s how we collect the seeds and grow them.”
Iellie proudly opened her mouth. It wasn’t a program she usually liked, but she remembered watching fishermen farming oysters because it was interesting. As she watched the reporter explain things one by one, she wondered if she could do that.
Thinking about it now, she was grateful in many ways.
“I think it would be better if we consulted with the fishermen. We need to visit them sometime.”
“That’s a good idea.”
