Chapter 71
Elysia couldn’t hide her embarrassment.
It was not like she had a love triangle with two men at a time she couldn’t remember. She thought it was a grandiose delusion, but that wasn’t the case.
If Cassian had missed her because he didn’t get the timing right… Numerous delusions continued in her mind.
Elysia shook her head and called out to Peloit, putting her thoughts away.
“Pel.”
“Elysia. I know it’s confusing.”
Peloit said in a soothing voice, as if not to blame for her actions a while ago.
She then lowered her eyes to avoid meeting his eyes head-on. When she met his eyes, she would surely recall the feeling of love out of context. And, she deliberately recalled what she thought was her memory with Peloit.
There were only a few blurry scenes, but it was enough to weaken her heart.
She also wondered if she should have followed her lover.
Elysia lifted her gaze back and looked at him, and the feeling she had been poured cold water on was gone. She finished her brief contemplation without looking into his gaze for a long time.
“I’m sorry. I don’t think I can be with you as it is right now.”
“Are you saying you want to be with Duke Esteban?”
“I haven’t decided on that yet…”
“Then, come here first…”
She wanted to tell him how she could go back there again after meeting this smell, but she swallowed it.
Elysia sighed and ruffled her hair.
“Pel. Let’s break up.”
“….”
She could feel the tense atmosphere breaking down.
Elysia glanced at him with a face, wondering if there were any problems.
“Elysia, it’s best to stop playing around like that. It’s not fun.”
Was it a mistake to think that it is a strangely lowly thought line? She was annoyed at the feeling that something was not going to come to mind.
“I’m not joking. I don’t like clingy guys.”
Elysia tilted her head and raised the corners of her lips. Even though he was a man who tried to hold her in his arms while injuring both his arms, it was obvious that something was wrong.
“It’s been fun all this time. Actually, I can’t remember what I enjoyed.”
“Didn’t you say that you love me? Your memories, how the hell did this happen…”
She didn’t even like him saying as if it shouldn’t be.
Lingering relationships that made you feel so uncomfortable should be cleaned up. Even though she didn’t have any memories, her feelings for Peloit seemed to be sorted out if they just broke up.
She was concerned that Peloit was a human who knew who she was.
“Ah, of course, I love you. Even now. But, I can’t remember.”
When the word ‘love’ came out of her mouth, the hand that was holding her waist became painfully strong.
Although her body stiffened in pain and loosened again at the same time, the energy emanating from Cassian was unusual.
Is it jealousy…?
Elysia tilted her head in a carefree thought. She wondered what kind of relationship Cassian and she had. Naturally, he grabbed her waist and didn’t let her go, so it must have been something.
She pulled Cassian’s collar gently and caught his attention.
“You know me, right?”
Cassian nodded slowly.
“Were we close?”
“…Very much.”
The answer seemed to barely come out.
In her past without any memories, she probably did not say that she abandoned him coldly.
As she struggled to remember, she heard Peloit lowly muttering swear words.
“I didn’t want to do this, but I can’t.”
“What does that mean… Ah—!”
Elysia took her gaze away from Cassian and grabbed her wrist as she spoke to Peloit.
The magic engraved on the inside of her wrist filled with the restraint was scorching hot as if on fire. Her body hardened that she couldn’t move. Something like a shadow rising from the floor bounded her.
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she felt the pain in her wrists.
“You…!”
It was felt that Cassian hastily raised his magic to destroy the magic circle, but nothing happened.
Peloit looked up at him and raised the corners of his lips in a smirk.
“No matter how a master you are, you can’t break black magic.”
Elysia grew white as she looked at the spear-shaped magic mass she had tried to block earlier. It was smaller than the first one, but there were many.
“.…?”
However, they were aimed at her, not in the direction where Cassian was. Any doubts as to whether Peloit was trying to attack her disappeared immediately.
As Cassian hugged her, a spear pierced his shoulder.
The spear that pierced his shoulder disappeared like a scattering, and she could see blood dripping out.
“What is this, that crazy…!”
Elysia spit out swear words and looked at Peloit. It was because he knew that Cassian would block her, so he purposely attacked her.
There were still two more attacks he had prepared.
If one of them pierced the heart, it would be the end, isn’t it?
Elysia hastily whispered to Cassian.
“Get out of the way. I’m not going to die.”
“Sorry.”
’…I can’t do that.’
Cassian raised the corner of his mouth and buried his forehead on her shoulder.
Why was he going so far?
Elysia bit her lip and looked at Peloit. There was murderous energy in his eyes.
“Peloit. Why are you doing this…”
“Of course, because of you.”
“Then, that should be it. You can just pretend I didn’t say goodbye.”
Now? Peloit, with that expression on his face, smiled.
Had she known it was going to be like this, would she have said that. Was it because of this that she felt uncomfortable looking at him? How could he do such a thing with someone they love, making them bait?
Even if he was sure Cassian would stop it, there was something about it…
She couldn’t get out of the thought that she had provoked him and put Cassian in danger.
“Elysia. Please stay like that for a moment. He must be killed, anyway.”
What should she do?
She had to think. What should she do…?
Tears welled up incessantly, blurring her vision, making it difficult to see Cassian’s face.
She didn’t know if it was because her wrist hurt, or if it was the thought that Cassian might die. Elysia could see him raising his hand and wiping away her tears, then tilted his head and smiled.
“If you cry… I don’t know what to do.”
She felt so well what the emotions were in the soothing voice, so she became even more urgent.
“Just get out of the way. Please. Don’t block it. This is nothing more than giving a Peloit what it wants.”
“I’m glad that you care like this even though you don’t even remember.”
Peloit clapped his hand as if to cut off the conversation.
“The farewell ends here.”
“Peloit. If you don’t stop, I’ll never be with you.”
“It doesn’t matter. I’ll take you regardless of your will.”
“No way, this is…”
Elysia bowed her head and looked at her restraint. Seeing the deep possessiveness and madness in his eyes, she thought, maybe it was Peloit that made her the way she was. She could see him smirking scornfully and shrugging his shoulders.
“I can’t believe you chose to die instead. It’s funny.”
Elysia ignores Peloit’s sarcasm to Cassian, and she quickly finds a way out of her own accord.
A thought that came to her suddenly came to mind, and she regretted why she hadn’t thought of this method right away.
“Peloit. Pel.”
She saw Peloit staring at her as if possessed by her seductive voice.
Elysia met her gaze with Peloit, stating her habit of holding down her power. She intended to use her memory-erasing ability, though he was too far away. She succeeded in fixing his gaze on herself, but he seemed to be that far.
Her eyes, which should have been blurred, were so clear. She was very hungry, and she was not feeling well.
If she was hurt a little more…
The more the vampire’s temptation or the dangerous situation, the stronger the force.
Why did she come to a situation where she had to stop Peloit while she was doing self-harm?
Elysia reached out her fingers and connected her restraints elsewhere, then grabbed the end of her chain, which appeared to be broken.
Although the power was weakened by the restraint, she pulled as hard as she could. Her skin, which had already been rubbed off as if it was about to be peeled off, was bleeding with the slightest effort.
A little bit more…
This wasn’t enough.
For a moment, she thought that something like this had happened, and she wondered if something like this had ever happened.
Cassian noticed and was about to reach for her wrist, giving more force to keep the chain from slipping away.
As she felt Cassian grab her wrist, she wrapped her hand around the chain and pulled it back.
Her gaze was still on Peloit.
‘All right. There are not many people who can overcome this.’
“Pel. Closer… Come a little closer.”
She could see Peloit taking a step closer.
Another slow step.
“Pel, when you wake up…”
…You’ll forget it all.
When she used her powers, she uttered the usual words, but for some reason, she couldn’t use her powers.
Is it because of the restraint? It’s not even magic, why? Could it be that she couldn’t use it in such a badly injured state?
Things didn’t go as planned, and as she shook, Peloit came to his senses.
At that moment, she could feel the magic circle drawn under her own feet crack, and the magic that had been holding her in her restraint vanished.
Cassian tightly embraced her crumbling body.
“Damn.”
Peloit, who grinded his teeth, vanished.
“Whoo… Elysia.”
He gently grabbed her with one arm opposite the injured shoulder. Instead, he had no hands to support her back, so he had to wrap his arms around her neck.
Elysia tried to figure out what had happened with a bewildered expression on her face.
“What did you do?”
Instead of answering, Cassian loosened the restraint ball on her wrist. With a click, the restraint on her wrist loosened and fell to the floor.
Didn’t Peloit say that Cassian couldn’t touch the magic circle engraved on the restraint…?
“I think I know what to do because I keep trying. I should have caught you.”
Peloit saw Cassian destroying black magic and immediately ran away.
Elysia exhaled her breath, belatedly looking at the man holding her. His shoulder hurts so severely, yet he’s holding her.
Even on the other side, his body was strong.
“I think you should put me down.”
“Sigh…”
Cassian raised his eyebrows and raised her bloody wrists.
As soon as she saw him frown as if upset, her brow frowned even more. Does he know what his shoulder was like now, yet he was so upset with the scar on her wrist?
Cassian said in a low voice, as if angry.
“Can’t you save yourself a little?”
