Chapter 11 The National Godess’ Approach to the Flight
Everyone is shocked.
“Chief Engineer Qin, you should stay here. Deputy Chief Engineer Chen is right. You play the biggest role by being at the forefront of scientific research!”
“Daxia needs researchers like you. We have been behind other military powers in machinery for fifty, even sixty years. There was no hope of catching up, but with you, we have gained all this hope! How can you become a pilot?!”
“Being a pilot is too dangerous. It may be disrespectful saying this, but if something happens to you, the entire country will be at a loss.”
“Yes! Chief Engineer Qin, stay here and lead the way through research. Others cannot convince me of things, but you can!” Says Lao Li.
“I thought you were going to rest for a while, but not become a pilot. Other military powers would not take such a risk.”
“It is absurd to become a pilot!”
The group of researchers, who have an average age of over five hundred, can no longer bear it. The researchers would not stop me if all I wanted to do was rest, even if it was for a year and a half, nor would they stop me if I were to study other forms of technologies. However, they all think that becoming a pilot is too dangerous. It is not that my life is worth more than that of other pilots, but people view it as a waste of human resources for a top-notch researcher to become a pilot.
To put it in harsh terms, if I really want to become a pilot, then the people above me can argue against it. However, Chen and the others underestimate my determination. Facing the pleas and anticipation on everyone’s faces, I am touched, but I grit my teeth.
“I understand your words, but Deputy Chief Engineer Chen knows why I built this engine. It is so that I can study at the Air Force Flight Command Academy. Now that it is almost completed, it is time for me to retire.”
Everyone looks at each other. Even though I have shown such firm determination, Chen has no intention of backing down just yet.
“Chief Engineer Qin, you have shown knowledge in mechanical and thermal power. I will not tell you any lies. It is more than enough for you to become our teacher, but being a fighter pilot is different. Flying skills are not as easy as you think, otherwise, there would be plenty of people recruited every year,” Chen says.
“Yes! Chief Engineer Qin, what Chen just said is very reasonable! Flying skills are not that easy, so it is better if you stay!”
“Your knowledge of mechanical and thermal power is several times that of ours. Compared to you, our old bones are more similar to elementary school students. We want to follow you to learn your skills.
“Chief Engineer Qin, take us with you!”
“Stay! We need you, Daxia needs you, the 150 million people in Daxia need you!”
…..
Chen and the others try persuading me again. I do pause for a moment, but my expression soon turns solemn.
“I have made up my mind, Deputy Chief Engineer Chen, Lao, you can stop now. If you really want me to stay, then I will not leave today in case something happens. But, if you encounter any problems in the future, you can come to me. I will not refuse to help if you really need me,” I say.
As soon as I say these words, everyone looks extremely gloomy. No one speaks out anymore since they all know that I will not stay. Chen also feels the mood. He stares at me for a long time, and finally sighs.
“Cheif Engineer Qin, leaving the front line of scientific research is a loss for the entire country,” Chen says.
“Be that as it may, I will not change my mind.,” I say solemnly. “If you need me, you can find me at the flight school.”
Chen nods slightly, “Chief Engineer Qin, I will not say any sensational words. The path may be far, but the road is smooth.”
“We will not waste any more words, and we have no parting gifts. We can only mass-produce these fighter jets as soon as possible so that you can pilot the plane that you developed,” other researchers started to chime in.
“It is a must!”
I smile, looking forward to the future. As the core fighter, the pulse detonation engine is definitely the most terrifying existence under the sky.
I leave the group with a successful retirement. This is something that no one expected. The third generation engine is about to be launched. Any other person aside from me would have stayed for the celebration, but I still leave.
“Cheif Qin is a pure person! It is because of you that we have achieved so much. We will never be as not as good as you,” Chen says after I leave.
It is thought-provoking. Scientific researchers start pure when they first come into work, but they become corrupted by fame and fortune in their pursuits. Of course, they do not care about money, but the fame…
“We will never be as good as Chief QIn!”
……..
On the flight to Beichengdi, I, Xia Qiange, step onto the plane with large strides with an assistant behind me pulling my suitcase. The two of us are about to walk towards the first class cabin when my gaze suddenly falls on a figure in the economy class.
“Has he been doing well these past two years?” I ask.
I stand there looking at the unmistakably tall figure. My eyes sweep over the cabin from time to time. After standing for a while, I turn to my assistant and tell her, “You go on ahead, I have something I need to do.”
After I finish speaking, I walk towards the figure. My assistant is stunned for a moment before she regains her senses. She sees me walking towards the young man sitting not too far away, and her eyes suddenly widen.
As my assistant, she knows my temperament very well. I have always been cold to men, and I have never been in a situation where I took the initiative to greet one. But the assistant does not look for long. She turns around and walks towards the first class cabin.
Qin looks out the window, feeling relaxed and happy when he hears a light voice in his ear.
“Qin?” I ask. “It really is you. When I first got on, I thought I saw wrong. I did not expect to meet you here again.”
Even if I am a strong woman who, in my sophomore year, created a company with an annual income of nearly 100 million and am a cold president, I still heard a trace of nervousness in my voice when facing Qin.
