Chapter 456: Chapter 456: Mr. Li Is on a Business Trip
Rong Yan carefully selected one inside, and had written more than half of it when, for some reason, she suddenly frowned, raised her head, and said to the saleslady who had already packed for her, “Excuse me, can I have another card?”
“Err,” the saleslady was surprised that she stopped writing halfway, but still smiled and found another card, “Here you go, please use this one.”
Rong Yan crumpled the previous card and threw it into the trash can, one hand on her forehead, deep in thought.
It took her about seven or eight minutes before her eyes lit up, and she quickly wrote something on the new card. After finishing, she blew the card dry and carefully handed it to the saleslady, “This one, please put it inside.”
“Sure, don’t worry, madam.”
The saleslady skillfully placed the card into the watch box, then repacked the box in the paper bag, even tying a big bow on the paper bag. With a light smile, she handed it to Rong Yan, “Thank you for your patronage, madam. We welcome you to come again.”
Rong Yan took the paper bag and her bank card that had been swiped, holding the bag as she left the mall and hailed a taxi at the intersection.
“Dihor Garden, thank you.”
“Okay,” said the driver, pressing the accelerator and speeding off in the direction she had indicated.
Rong Yan looked at the gift in her hands with an expectant smile, then took out her mobile phone from her bag and checked the expense message on it.
The expenditure of ten thousand from Qi made her heart ache.
The account that had barely climbed from four digits to five was knocked back to its original state, the glaring 1716 making her want to cry without tears.
She didn’t know if Estelle had any more events like todays — she was really poor, desperately in need of making some quick money!
The taxi soon stopped at Dihor Garden.
Rong Yan got out of the cab, paid the driver, lifted the paper bag, and happily walked home.
Who would have known that just as she approached the elevator, she bumped into someone hurrying down.
“Ouch—” Rong Yan got hit squarely, but luckily, it was only her nose that turned a bit red. The paper bag in her hand was still intact.
But the person who bumped into her was startled, “Miss Rong, are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Rong Yan declined his offer to help, breathing heavily as she rubbed her sore nose, and asked with clear, bright eyes, “What happened?”
Gu Ming, flustered, finally came to a stop and looked at her, hesitating before shaking his head and saying, “It’s nothing, Miss Rong, you’re overthinking it.”
“Oh.” She didn’t believe it!
His face wore an expression that all but screamed ‘there’s an issue’!
Before she could pry further, the hesitant man took a deep breath as if to muster courage, and suddenly spoke to her, “Actually, Miss Rong, there has been a bit of a problem.”
“What’s the problem? Is it related to Li Shengxiao?” Rong Yan blinked her eyes as she waited for him to continue.
It had to be related to Li Shengxiao — his expression just now had been too anxious. It must be about that man!
Gu Ming didn’t expect her to be so accurate, choked for a moment, then, recovering, looked at her with hesitation and said, “Mr. Li has gone on a business trip to Lin City.”
Li Shengxiao went on a business trip?!
Gu Ming voiced his concern, “Mr. Li was still recovering from his injury, and since he went to bed early last night, he got up at seven this morning. He was busy all morning, didn’t even have lunch, and then there was some unexpected trouble in Lin City, so Mr. Li drove there.”
