My Hi-tech Library - Chapter 18
Chapter 18: Increasingly Expanding Influence

Liu Yang had graduated with an undergraduate degree in computing. He had been working for two years and was working for a software company in Shanghai. He had just turned from a novice programmer to an old bird.
In order to learn programming technology, Liu Yang joined many technical QQ groups.
The challenge test was extremely popular in the technical group. Liu Yang also participated.
Due to the limited level of technology, Liu Yang only made it to the 14th level before he was stuck on an algorithm question. He could not even get to the bottom of the rankings.
To obtain a new algorithm prompt for the question, one had to do a mission—write a request or grade someone else’s work. Only after passing the review would one have a chance to solve the challenge question.
Liu Yang was usually very busy with work, but he still took the time to write programs, exhausting him to death.
However, the attraction of the new technology, the sense of accomplishment after successfully clearing the level, and the pleasant atmosphere of exchanging technology with the group members all kept him going. In short, Liu Yang could not reject this challenge event at all. He could not reject advancing his technological skills.
During work hours, after Liu Yang was done with his work, he could not wait to open the other programming tools and write the code for a special request for the challenge website. The purpose was to exchange for the hint.
In exchange for a hint, he had to pay with his own labor.
This was especially criticized by many challengers.
However, not long after, the technical big shots who had challenged a few important checkpoints and obtained special tips gradually changed their attitude.
Everyone believed that the technical guru who created this challenge system had an extremely high profile and great character. He was teaching everyone new knowledge for free. In exchange, they were only paying with a little labor and were able to practice new programming techniques. It was definitely not a losing business.
Instead, they should be thanking the other party for giving them the opportunity to learn new knowledge for free, improve their abilities, and train their skills.
After receiving the affirmation of the technical big shots, the challenge immediately won the enthusiastic response of many technical groups.
Liu Yang was one of them.
During this period of time, Liu Yang had been obsessed with the challenges and writing the code for various programs. His programming ability had unknowingly improved a lot.
In the past, it would take a day to solve the workload. Now, Liu Yang only took half a morning to solve it. Then, he used the rest of the time to write the procedures needed to clear the website.
Liu Yang stared at the computer screen and concentrated on typing the code. He had no idea that his superior, Xu Jianhui, suddenly appeared behind him and stood silently for a long time.
“Liu Yang, what are you writing? Come to my office,” Xu Jianhui suddenly called out with a dark expression.
With that, Xu Jianhui turned around and left.
Liu Yang was shocked and looked at his colleague beside him in confusion.
“I had no choice. I reminded you when Boss came but you were too focused and didn’t react.” The colleague sitting on Liu Yang’s right explained to him speechlessly.
Liu smiled bitterly, stood up, and walked towards the supervisor’s office.
He opened the glass and stepped into the office.
“Little Liu, what’s wrong with you? Are you working on a part-time job during work?” As soon as Liu Yang entered, Xu Jianhui questioned him.
“Boss, I wasn’t doing anything wrong! I’m done with work today so I’m simply learning new techniques!” Liu Yang quickly argued.
“Done? So soon?” Xu Jianhui asked in surprise.
“Yes, I’ve already uploaded it to the cloud. If you don’t believe me, open it and take a look. I’ve tested the program. It’s running normally. There’s no BUG,” Liu Yang said confidently.
Xu Jianhui gave Liu Yang a suspicious look and remotely opened the cloud server’s desktop to check his work progress.
The results were as Liu Yang had said. He had indeed finished all the work for the day.
Xu Jianhui’s tense face relaxed a little.
“Why didn’t you tell me after finishing? I can continue to arrange tasks for you. Don’t you know how tense the project is? Don’t you want the project bonus anymore?!” Xu Jianhui glared at Liu Yang and reprimanded him angrily.
“C’mon, Boss, give me some time to learn! I’m learning a key algorithm. If I succeed, it will be very helpful to our project.” Liu Yang’s expression changed drastically and he hurriedly begged for mercy.
“What key algorithm? Are you trying to fool me?” Xu Jianhui frowned and asked suspiciously.
“Absolutely not. Boss, I’ll give you the link to an algorithm clearing website. After you pass the tenth level, you can learn some novel algorithms,” Liu Yang explained.
“Oh! Send it over!” Xu Jianhui nodded curiously.
Liu Yang quickly took out his phone and copied the link to the website. He copied it and sent it to Xu Jianhui’s QQ.
Soon, under Liu Yang’s guidance, Xu Jianhui also joined the challenge.
The first few stages were all questions about basic algorithms. Although the scope of knowledge was a little wide, Xu Jianhui easily solved them with his rich programming experience.
When it came to the tenth question, Xu Jianhui’s progress stopped. This question involved an unfamiliar algorithm.
Xu Jianhui looked up for Liu Yang. The kid had already left the office while he was doing the questions.
“Little Liu, I’ve reached the tenth round. What method do you use to solve this question?” Xu Jianhui had no choice but to send a message to Liu Yang.
After a while, Liu Yang replied, “Boss, what’s the question? I have the information on the multi-calculus algorithm. If it’s another question, you have to request for a hint at the bottom right corner. You have a chance to obtain the information on the new algorithm to help you answer this question.”
“Multi-calculus? Four-dimensional heap algorithm? What are you talking about? I saw the answer hint,” Xu Jianhui asked in confusion. He casually sent a screenshot of the question to Liu Yang and then operated the mouse to click on the answer hint.
“Ah! Boss, you have to use dynamic multidimensional arithmetic. I remember that a friend has this information. Don’t click on the answer hint first. I’ll help you get it!” Liu Yang looked at the screenshot and quickly reminded him.
“I’ve already clicked on it!” Xu Jianhui replied.
“Uh! Brother Xu, you were too fast! I already reminded you, alright? Don’t blame me when the time comes.” Liu Yang hurriedly reminded him.
“Blame you for what?” Xu asked, puzzled.
“It’s very difficult to get the hints. The first time is free, but to obtain hints after that, you have to do the missions! You’ll know when the time comes! It’s so troublesome!” Liu Yang sighed and explained.
“Oh! Let’s talk later. I’ll solve this question first,” Xu Jianhui replied casually. His gaze was focused on the LCD screen as he devoted himself to learning the new algorithm.
Seeing this message, Liu Yang chuckled as if he understood something and did not reply.
“You’re too evil! In order to get away with it, you even brought Brother Xu into the pit?” The colleague sitting beside Liu Yang grinned and asked Liu Yang, who had a smirk on his face.
“Hehe, it’s better to have fun together! There’s no harm in it anyway.” Liu Yang chuckled and argued.
His colleague shook his head wryly, his expression resigned.
