Chapter 569: Chapter 571: Looking Back and Seeing Him Again (1)
Lu Weixi didn’t expect to run into Zhao Zihao here.
The thing is, if her memory served her well, this department catered to women. It mostly sold international fashion brands and women’s underwear. Moreover, it catered to a younger demographic, unlike the mature clientele of a department store.
Zhao Zihao didn’t have a girlfriend, did he? She’d never seen him being cozy with any doctor or nurse.
However, that was none of her business.
The only thing was, she and Qin Zhiyou were in a somewhat awkward embrace at that moment. Considering it wouldn’t be appropriate to push Qin Zhiyou away now, she decided to bury her head deeper into his chest, hoping Zhao Zihao hadn’t seen her. Or even if he had, she hoped he would pretend otherwise.
Zhao Zihao, however, did see her. His face betrayed a momentary flicker of distress.
But the distress was fleeting—almost unnoticeable without a careful gaze.
Lu Weixi had mostly missed this, but not Qin Zhiyou. His eyes sharp, he had clearly noticed Zhao Zihao’s tiny moment of evasion. Though he remained quiet on the surface, his mind was already working out strategies.
He was the one who took the initiative to greet: “Dr. Zhao.”
Lu Weixi was surprised to see Qin Zhiyou show this much initiative and politeness. If she was not mistaken, she remembered Qin Zhiyou didn’t particularly like Dr. Zhao, even wanting him replaced previously. He seemed unsatisfied both with his medical skills and his persona.
But since the incident involving Lu’s mother, Zhao Zihao must have found out about their marital status. She had previously lied to him, claiming that Qin Zhiyou was just a relative. When the truth was revealed, Zhao Zihao didn’t question it, and she offered no explanation.
Even though it was Qin Zhiyou who pointed out that Zhao Zihao harbored special feelings for her. She never felt anything remotely intimate or flirtatious during her frequent hospital visits. Perhaps Qin Zhiyou was overthinking it.
Caught off guard by Qin Zhiyou’s greeting, Zhao Zihao returned the laughter and greeted back, “Miss Lu, Mr. Qin.”
Qin Zhiyou’s gaze dropped to the shopping bag in his hand, which contained quite a lot of material, clearly women’s clothing.
With thin lips curved in a slight grin, he casually teased, “I had no idea our composed Dr. Zhao had a girlfriend.”
Zhao Zihao remained unperturbed, countering with a smile, “Not at all. Compared to Mr. Qin, who constantly has women fawning over him.”
With a resigned grace, Qin Zhiyou wore the expression of a wise man: “Ah yes, despite the surrounding dazzling beauty, none compares to the one I’ve carefully nurtured.”
With each man taking turns throwing jabs, Lu Weixi felt increasingly embarrassed. She hurried to interrupt, “Dr. Zhao, Zhiyou and I won’t keep you from your shopping date.”
What does she mean by “Zhiyou”? She should address him as “husband” or at the very least add “brother” after his name.
A look of dissatisfaction fell on Qin Zhiyou’s face, but Zhao Zihao responded even quicker with a veiled smile, “I don’t have a girlfriend.”
Lu Weixi paused a little, which made Qin Zhiyou even more unhappy. What did they care if he had a girlfriend or not? He bluntly declared, “Wife, let’s go.”
Still holding onto her, he forcefully turned the corner with her in tow. Behind them, he muttered into her ear, “Hereafter, you can either call me husband or brother. You can’t just address me by my name.” How distant that would sound!
As they bickered along the way, they finally arrived at the underwear section, where Qin Zhiyou headed towards the left — where the choices were more risqué.
