The second day, Qin Ze exercised as usual. Based on his personality, it was hard to imagine that he would wake up at five every day and run under the half-lit sky to practice his inner strength. Perhaps he had been ordinary for too long and was his sister, Qin Baobao’s, accessory for too many years so his heart was filled with much indignance and sadness. Suddenly, one day, he was given a new lease on life like how a chicken met with branches that form a ladder, causing his inner ambition to be aroused.
He reached home at 7:30 and brought breakfast for Qin Baobao. While his sister was eating breakfast, she played on her phone as her long and white fingertip pressed on the screen. Qin Ze was scribbling on rough paper as he bit on his bread. Both of them were not talking, but the atmosphere was not awkward or solemn at all… just like the calmness and peace of an old couple that had been through many things.
“I won’t be sending you to school today. I need to reach the office earlier.” After Qin Baobao finished her breakfast, she grabbed a tissue paper to wipe her mouth. “The company hired a second-tier singer to train us today. Guess who it is.”
“I’m not interested.” Qin Ze wrote formulas on the paper and did not even raise his head.
Qin Baobao frowned and twisted her butt as she walked into the room.
After a while, Qin Baobao changed and went out. Today, she did not wear her OL outfit but was wearing a pleated miniskirt with a V-neck, dark green knitted sweater with a blue singlet inside, together with a deer-skin short boots. Her two legs were smooth and long without stockings, and she was wearing a pair of silver, clover-shaped earrings.
Qin Ze instantly had the shock of his eyes being blinded.
He was completely a miniskirt fanatic and not a black-stockings one. There were many girls with long legs, but if they did not wear stockings, there would be a lot of flaws with their leg shapes or skin. In Qin Ze’s life span of twenty-two years, one could not say that he had met countless beauties. However, occasionally, when he felt like it; he would search for pictures of pretty girls on the Internet.
Then again, it was very rare to see pretty girls who had the same porcelain-like beautiful legs like Qin Baobao. It seemed like only Qin Baobao could pull off the look of wearing a miniskirt without stockings.
The pair of legs was white, long, and proportionate; and when he looked at it, he had the urge to touch it.
Qin Baobao’s lips curved upwards slightly and walked to the table to turn one round, allowing the pleated skirt to fly up. Delightedly, she said, “How is it?”
Qin Ze said lightly, “Average.”
“Wipe your saliva first, pervert.”
“Who’s the pervert?” Qin Ze was furious as he guiltily wiped the corner of his mouth.
Qin Baobao widened her eyes and bent down to put her flirtatious face close. She grunted, “You’re looking at your own sister’s thighs with such lust. Who do you think is the pervert?”
“Qin Baobao, watch what you’re saying.” Qin Ze’s humiliation turned into anger.
“I’m just joking. You’re boring.” Qin Baobao frowned. “We’re going to start our dance training today. My outfit is not bad, right?”
Qin Ze did not say a word and wanted to flip her miniskirt, but Qin Baobao avoided his hand and glared. “Hey, hey, what are you doing?”
“It’s very easy for your important parts to be exposed while you dance in these short miniskirts.”
“Obviously, I already wore safety shorts.”
Qin Ze replied with an ‘oh’ as he stood up to pack his belongings and stuffed them into his bag. He took the elevator with his sister, but he got off on the first floor while Qin Baobao went to the basement to get the car. Once Qin Ze got out of the elevator, he suddenly turned behind and used his hand to stop the elevator door that was closing slowly. “Have you adjusted to your new company? Are there any brutes or perverts harassing you?”
Cooperatively, Qin Baobao traditionally twisted her finger and blinked her eyes. “Your sister is so pretty. Of course, some brutes will covet her, but I’ll ignore all of them.”
Qin Ze laughed. “Don’t be sedated by others lest they’ll drag you to the hotel for some banging.”
Qin Baobao kicked over. “Get lost!”
Qin Ze dodged it easily and ran out of the lobby. He still had a negative attitude towards the complicated entertainment circle so there were some things he had to remind his sister who was prone to danger. Qin Baobao knew of his intentions, and with her intelligence, she would naturally know how to handle them. This was their siblings’ common understanding and not much explanation was needed.
At ten in the morning, he had a professional lesson. Qin Ze reached school punctually at 8:30 and walked on the familiar path to Professor Li’s ‘workshop’.
Once he walked in, he heard Professor Li’s roar of anger.
Qin Ze entered in the most soundless way possible; everyone was present, and he was the latest. On the rostrum, Professor Li was spitting out his saliva as he scolded. The pitiful fellow on the receiving end was Yang Chen, who was responsible for taking care of him.
Hah, interesting!
Qin Ze was laughing at his misery in his heart as he quietly sat on his seat.
“What’s the matter with you? You didn’t do your work at all. You aren’t like this normally. Now, without your risk assessment projection, everyone else’s work can’t progress. What did I tell you normally? You need to be disciplined. Disciplined. Did you not take my words seriously?
“Great, now everyone’s progress is impacted by you.
“Drinking? Don’t you know that drinking would stall work? You’re not disciplined with your work at all. How can you compete with others in society next time? You’ll just drink when other people tell you to and not reject them? Do you know what self-discipline is?”
Yang Chen’s head was low as he allowed Professor Li to scold him as he wished.
After listening for a while, he roughly knew what was going on.
Last night, Yang Chen went to a gathering with his friends and got drunk. When he went home, he was in a daze and fell asleep once he lay down so he forgot about the task delegated to him yesterday.
Qin Ze knew about yesterday’s task: two risk assessment reports on a short-term operation. It was not too hard, but the most troublesome thing was that he had to research on and reference too many materials; it was considered meticulous work. In Points Mall, he exchanged for relevant information and still had to use two hours to settle the task. Based on Yang Chen’s ability, he would have to use at least four hours.
Great, a morning’s worth of time was wasted and would affect the day’s progress.
This model-building project had to be submitted in less than a week. Professor Li and his students had to fight for every second they had so it was no wonder he was so furious when Yang Chen made such a stupid mistake.
Qin Ze looked at his surroundings, and everyone else was just watching on and minding their own business. No one chipped in a good word for Yang Chen.
Yang Chen really could not stand Professor Li’s nagging anymore. His eyeballs turned, and he pulled a bitter face. “Professor Li, I admit, it’s my fault that I don’t have self-discipline. I promise I won’t make this mistake again next time. Actually, Xu Junlong and I had split the work yesterday. He already finished his side. Originally, every group had three people so even if I made a small mistake on my part, we can make up for it quickly.
“However, our group only has two people; Qin Ze just came and doesn’t know anything so he can’t help much. I have to do two people’s worth of work. See, I made a mistake; and the entire group’s work is impacted. Besides, it’s nearing our submission date.”
He suddenly pushed the blame elsewhere and did not hope that Qin Ze would be his scapegoat, but he just wished that Qin Ze could bear some hatred.
As expected, Professor Li paused and suddenly glanced towards Qin Ze with his eyebrows slightly knitted.
Qin Ze thought to himself: heck, you bastard. What hatred? Did I offend you? You were already talking behind my back yesterday and wanted to mess with me.
Just because the tiger did not rage, do you really think that I am Hello Kitty?
He took out a bunch of information he arranged from his bag and found the risk assessment report he did last night, which included the formulas, technological analysis, theory analysis, and relevant information.
“Professor, I did the work you assigned to me yesterday. Take a look at it.”
There was a sudden silence in the room, which was different from the previous one; the former was a slightly tense silence. Now, everyone turned their heads to look at Qin Ze in stunned silence.
After being shocked, Yang Chen mocked him. “You just came yesterday; how would you know the contents and requirements needed? You don’t know anything and just randomly drafted some work. This is not being meticulous at all. How can Professor Li assign you tasks when you’re like this?”
The others did not say a word, and they all had a spectator expression on their faces.
Professor Li took Qin Ze’s materials; of course, he could not put down the students below him. He scanned the materials and said gently, “Qin Ze, your seriousness is worth praising. However, you just came yesterday. You should look more and learn more and not just blindly do something up… oh?”
Professor Li did not say a word and looked at the materials in detail. In a surprise, he said, “You’ve done a good job. Qin Ze, it was right to call you over and help me.”
Good job?
Yang Chen was shocked and stuck his head over to look at Qin Ze’s report. However, Professor Li did not let him see it and kept the materials in his document bag in anger.
The other interns present all had a stunned expression on their faces as they did not expect this fellow to be such an expert. Professor Li, who was always stingy, actually said words like ‘it was right to call you over and help me’ with a delighted expression.
It seemed like only Qin Ze understood what Professor Li meant with his words. He was not praising him, but the SUFE professor behind him—Qin Ze’s father. Professor Li should have mistaken that Qin Ze’s father was the one who completed the report.
He spent over a thousand dollars to get a professor of the same grade to do work for him. He clearly got the upper hand of the deal. Of course, he was happy.
After receiving everyone’s impressed looks, he smiled slightly and did not even look at Yang Chen—who had a distorted face—as he nonchalantly returned to his seat.
There was some saying that went like this: acting smart invisibly was the most fatal.
Rascal, how dare he mess with him?
I am the good man that had fought with Qin Baobao’s wits for twenty years; the one who knew all sorts of murder tactics in an enclosed area and strategy fighting.
