Gu Anyang handed the bottle of water to Gu Zhishen. He took it and opened the cap to take a sip, and he told Mo Boqing, “Find two people that you can trust to follow Ah Jian. If there’s nothing much, don’t let her find out!’
He didn’t really want to track her, but if she met with anything, he had to know about it immediately. Furthermore, if she really was in any danger, it could act as a layer of protection.
Mo Boqingn nodded and asked, “The Su family?”
Su Xu obviously knew that Yun Jianyue was Eldest Brother’s wife. He still dared to have thoughts about Yun Jianyue; he was totally looking for death!
Upon bringing this person up, Gu Zhishen’s gaze became dark, and he was silent for a moment. He threw the bottle of water to the side and said, “There’s no need.”
He was just a minor character, and, for now, Gu Zhishen didn’t need to touch him. If he did anything, it would make it seem that Su Xu was important.
Actually, the thing that Gu Zhishen cared about the most was how this ex-boyfriend continued to be in Yun Jianyue’s heart. Before he was clear about that, he’d quietly observe the changes.
The next day was Saturday, and Yun Jianyue woke up late. When she went downstairs, Yun Xiaotian was already in the office and Chen Xiaoxiao had an appointment with someone to watch a musical. She was the only one left at home.
After she ate lunch, she had nothing to do and didn’t like to go shopping, so she went back to her room to play games. She formed a team and started to play and had just won for the first time when the phone that she’d placed by the computer started to ring.
She glanced at it casually and planned to pick it up later, but the moment she saw the words “Gu Zhishen,” she immediately hid her character in a neighboring bush.
From the other end of the line, Gu Zhishen asked her out to eat dinner, told her the time and place, and originally even wanted to come over to pick her up.
Yun Jianyue was worried that her parents would see him and quickly said that she’d drive there.
Gu Zhishen was silent for a brief moment but didn’t continue to force her.
Yun Jianyue put her phone down and looked at her teammates that had been killed on the screen, and she couldn’t control herself and laughed out loud.
Gu Zhishen asked her out for dinner. When she’d heard his tone, it was as if it was only going to be between them. This…was this the first time they were out on a date?
She somehow felt nervous and excited.
Pretty Yun Jianyue: I have something urgent. I’ll be logging off.
Her fair hand quickly typed the sentences on her black keyboard and sent it out. She ignored her teammates cursing her out and backed out of the game. She switched her computer off and leaped over to her closet. Whoosh. She opened one side of her closet, which took up one wall.
They were all clothes for the current season, all colorful. The clothes closest to her were all in monochrome work attire.
She definitely couldn’t wear her work outfit when she went out for a meal with Gu Zhishen; she wasn’t going there for work purposes.
A gown that showed off her back?
No, it seemed too formal.
Casual clothing?
The restaurant he mentioned seemed to be a high-class Western restaurant, and it seemed inappropriate to be wearing casual clothing there.
After choosing a few times, Yun Jianyue decided to focus her attention on the dresses at last. She picked a few dresses and let her hair down in front of the mirror before putting her hair back up again to decide which one looked the best.
In the end, she picked a white, plain dress. It was simple but didn’t look casual, and when it was matched with the red necklace that her mother had gifted her for her birthday, it looked perfect.
Yun Jianyue ran over to take a shower and dry her hair. Her phone rang. It was Zhu Jingyi, and she was asking her out to eat Szechuan food.
When Zhu Jingyi found out that she was going to eat with Gu Zhishen and she’d been busy the entire afternoon picking out an outfit, she sighed on the other end. “We’re all people, and the difference in treatment is way too large!”
Yun Jianyue asked, “What do you mean?”
“When you went out on dates with Su Xu, I didn’t see you dolling up for dates like that, right?” Zhi Jingyi was unhappy with her and said, “You still dare to say that you don’t like my male idol!”
Yun Jianyue pondered for a moment. When she was dating Su Xu, she didn’t doll herself up too much because when she’d met Su Xu, she was just dressed in work attire. When they interacted, she was still dressed in her work attire. She was already used to it, so even after they got together, she’d never bothered about it, whether she was the prettiest one in Su Xu’s opinion, whether he’d complain that she wasn’t dressed nice enough and dolled herself up sexy enough.
Gu Zhishen was different, on the other hand!
“When did Gu Zhishen become your male idol? How come I don’t have any idea about it?” Yun Jianyue avoided her question and asked this instead. She didn’t like to talk about topics related to Gu Zhishen.
It wasn’t that she wanted to hide it from Zhu Jingyi, but she really didn’t know how to talk about it. Even she herself couldn’t tell what kind of feelings she had for Gu Zhishen right now.
“He’s always been my male idol! Oh no, I remembered everything. You even slept with my male idol! Quickly let me sleep with you, and it could also be like I’ve slept with my male idol!” Zhu Jingyi pretended to be very hurt.
Yun Jianyue knew she was teasing her, and she curled the corners of her lips up into a smile as she said, “Darling Zhu, your pride has fallen down on the floor again. Quickly pick it up. Be careful, or you might not be able to get married!”
“Baby, you’re so evil; you’re adding salt to my wound again. Someone come over and punish you heavily, and also add to the colors in the autumn leaves that I have!” Zhu Jingyi used Consort Hua’s1 tone to chide her.
Yun Jianyue laughed and cooperated with her and said, “I’ll abide!”
Zhu Jingyi didn’t chat with her for too long and cut off the call to leave Yun Jianyue free to go on the date with Gu Zhishen.
Gu Zhishen asked her to meet at 6:30, and counting the twenty-minute journey there, Yun Jianyue calculated the time and decided she’d go out around 5:30. But it was only 3. She still had two more hours. What was she going to do?
She didn’t want to continue playing the game; she was afraid she’d forget about the time when she played, and she decided to read a book.
Yun Jianyue took a book of compiled essays from the bookshelf without much care. She sat down on the bed to read, and she’d yet to flip through a few pages before she’d already started to yawn, and the words before her eyes became small black dots. The book fell out of her hands, and she closed her eyes without noticing as she fell asleep.
She thought that she’d just take a one-hour nap and she’d still be in time to head out the door. She was comforted with that fact as she slept.
She didn’t expect to fall into a deep sleep. If not for the sounds coming from downstairs, Yun Jianyue wouldn’t have woken up.
She sat up in shock. She somewhat remembered that she had something to do at 6:30, and when her peripheral vision scanned the dress that was ironed on the clothes hanger, her mind had a flash appear in it. She jumped down from the bed immediately and took her clothes as she hurriedly changed into them.
She was done for. She was done. It was already 6 in the evening, and she only had half an hour left.
Yun Jianyue was frantic as she changed her clothes. She took her bag and rushed downstairs. While she ran, she shouted, “Auntie Wen, Auntie Wen, give me my car keys.”
Auntie Wen quickly took the key of the car that she drove over to the foyer area. “What’s wrong? You’re in such a hurry. Are you going to be late for a date with Mr. Su?”
“That’s not the case at all!” Yun Jianyue changed her shoes and denied feeling all anxious at the same time. She grabbed the keys and headed out of the door as she said, “I’m leaving; I won’t be back for dinner tonight.”
Auntie Wen looked on as she dashed out of the house. She couldn’t help but smile and think to herself, She’s still saying that she’s not late for a date with Mr. Su. I think she’s definitely going.
Yun Jianyue drove the car from the garage onto the main road. She sped all the way. She was already driving at nearly 75 miles per hour. She beat two red lights. And it had to be the road to the restaurant that had a traffic jam!
She glanced at her wristwatch. It was already 6:30. She was dead. She was really late.
She lowered the window to look at the line of cars that were all stuck. She’d have to wait thirty minutes at the very least. She was totally unable to move at all.
She should give him a call to apologize first!
Yun Jianyue took the bag in the front passenger seat out and fumbled around for her phone. After she fumbled around again, she still couldn’t find it!
She emptied the contents of her bag entirely onto the front passenger seat. Mirror, lipstick, tissue paper, keys. She had everything but didn’t have her phone.
Damn. She was in a rush when she got out of the house, and it seemed that she forgot to take her phone with her.
