Eric (Goblin Flame Warlock) said, “Fire Element, incinerate him!” Xiao Yu commanded the fire element while releasing Flame Missiles from his staff.
Half way through the progress bar, Supreme Sword landed a punch on his face. A red -5 value popped up from his head and his spell was interrupted.
Punch: Strike the target’s face and deal a bare-handed attack, interrupting their spells. The cooldown period is 5 seconds.
The damage dealt was not particularly high, but the spell interruption was bothersome. Luckily, he still had spells that could be casted instantly.
Secondary Fire Ball Spell! A loup clap sounded and several fire balls were fired towards Supreme Sword. He could not block them in time and 19 HP was depleted.
“Heal me!” Supreme Sword cried out while slashing out attacks at the Goblin Boss. To his dismay, the damage dealt was not enough, but his health bar was rapidly drained to half by the Fire Element and the Boss’ combo attacks.
Usually, someone would have healed him by now, but that did not happen.
“Damn it, I am under attack, help!” Weiwei Soy Milk shouted for help.
Supreme Sword was stunned when he turned to look. The three Black Orcs had surrounded the Priest and were all attacking. The latter seemed to be no match for them as her shield was crumbling and her healing and protections were futile against their attacks.
The Mage was standing in between the Warrior and the Priest but was too shell shocked at the situation. Was the Boss strategizing with the Orcs just now? This Boss seemed to be rather intelligent, and she couldn’t decide who to help.
The Warrior grinded his teeth. “Help the Priest, I will hold the Boss back.” He gulped down a healing potion after saying his piece and some HP was recouped.
Shameless! Xiao Yu’s urge to curse arose when he saw the Warrior consume the potion. Oh well, he should have expected that—Adventurers were shameless after all.
However, he did not anticipate the Warrior to fight him alone. Did the Warrior expect himself to be the only one capable of healing? Xiao Yu waved and casted a Secondary Healing Spell.
“What the F*ck, the Boss can heal himself?” Supreme Sword was vexed. The Secondary Healing Spell could not heal much, but his attacks did not deal much damage. Furthermore, the move did not seem to have a cooldown period, but his healing potion had a resistance period.
In Firmament, the players could feel free to consume potions at any time. However, one would be afflicted with a DEBUFF called “Potion Resistance” after gulping a potion, and it would last for two minutes. If a similar potion was consumed within that period, the effectiveness would be reduced by half. DEBUFFs were superimposable. In other words, if the first bottle of potion added 100 HP, the second bottle would only add 50 HP, and 25 HP by the third one. It was a linear decrease.
However, for victory, Supreme Sword could not care less.
The Mage had already rushed towards the Priest and frozen the three Orcs with New Star of Frost.
“Run!” she shouted while shooting out Frost Arrows towards the three Orcs with her Water Element. The Priest paused her healing and supported her with Holy Light bombs. The bombs were mighty and would deal additional damage to Undead creatures. The damage would be reduced by half if it landed on living creatures, but it was still better than nothing. They finally slayed one of the Orcs, but New Star of Frost’s freezing period ended.
New Star of Frost! This time, the Water Element was the one that casted the Ice Rings, and it froze the remaining two orcs again. The poor Orcs were shot to death just like that.
At the same time, the Warrior Adventurer could not hold on any longer.
As his health bar was drained to the remaining 20 HP, his Potion Resistance had also stacked three or four times. Supreme Sword glanced back and was ecstatic to see that the Mage and Priest had killed the three Orcs. He ran back and wanted the Priest to heal him.
“Still thinking of escaping?”
Xiao Yu raised his staff—Flame Missile.
A cluster of Fire Missiles were blasted towards Supreme Sword’s back, but he was alerted and rolled to dodge the first two missiles. However, the remaining three missiles landed onto his back.
Bang, bang, bang! The string of missiles exploded on his back and instakilled him as he failed to block them. He wailed out loud and dropped several tattered pieces of equipment when he died.
Although the Black Rock Orcs had been destroyed, they had managed to drain the Priest’s HP, so there was only the Mage and a weakened Priest left.
“Haha, I would like to see if you guys can still escape!” Xiao Yu chuckled arrogantly and raised his staff sharply.
System prompt message: You have insufficient power, you are unable to cast the spell.
Damn it, Xiao Yu was at a loss for words. The Goblin race was rather stupid if their mana ran out so quickly. However, it did not matter—he was going to destroy them no matter what.
“Fire Element, go deal with that Water Element!” Xiao Yu passed down the instructions before bolting towards the Mage.
The Fire Element and Water Element were mortal enemies, hence both their attacks had additional boosts. However, since Xiao Yu’s Fire Element was level 10, two levels higher than its opponent, it was a secured victory.
The two other Adventurers would have to face Xiao Yu.
The Mage had only fired two Frost Arrows, inflicting over 20 points of damage to Xiao Yu, but he had already dashed up.
The Mage panicked and fled the scene. However, as Xiao Yu was in Elite Mode, he was much faster than the average player, so how could anyone escape? After catching up to the female Mage, he pounded her head hard without holding back. A -47 popped out as Xiao Yu depleted a third of the Mage’s health bar. For such a normal attack to inflict greater damage than the fire balls, the Mage could only blame her low HP. The Mage shrieked and wailed in fear.
Xiao Yu couldn’t care less as he followed with two more strikes and Purple Toffee collapsed unwillingly.
“Toffee!” the Priest cried out, but she turned and realized that the Goblin Boss was already darting towards her with a huge staff. Upon seeing that, she began wailing.
Xiao Yu was embarrassed because it looked as though he was bullying a little girl. However, as humans were different from monsters, and for blindly following the rest in Boss hunting, they should accept their fate. Xiao Yu thumped hard with his staff.
Several seconds later, Weiwei Soy Milk, the female Priest, fell to the ground as well.
Xiao Yu glowed brightly as he leveled up again.
Haha, leveling up was indeed faster when killing Adventurers. Every Adventurer contributed around 300 EXP, which was twice as much as the normal monsters. It was almost comparable to fighting Bosses.
Furthermore, the three players had dropped some equipment. Although Xiao Yu was unable to wear them, they still had some other uses.
Players in Monster Mode had 3 choices after obtaining Adventurers’ equipment.
The first choice would be to resolve them into materials using the system.
Materials could be used to build equipment specifically for monsters, and there were several types of equipment that every type of monster could build. There was a chance for Adventurers to drop those; however, those were only copies.
The second choice would be to use them as ballast. The system would automatically select equipment for players when monsters were killed. If the monster did not have any ballast, they would have to pay to revive and the fee would correspond to the same price as the equipment.
However, if there was ballast, the system would prioritize that equipment and drop it for the players. That way, players in Monster Mode would not have to pay to get revived.
The last choice would be to exchange for game money with the system, which could, in turn, be sold for real money on the market. This was not a worthy deal as the system would usually exchange for 30-50% of the equipment’s true price. Hence, this would only be practical if they had destroyed teams in dungeons and collected a big pile of equipment. Furthermore, the low-grade equipment that these three players had dropped was not worth much too.
The equipment was cleared by the system’s recovery.
System prompt message: Equipment has been recovered, please select your treatment method.
1. Resolve.
2. Add to drop queue.
3. System Repurchase.
Xiao Yu chose to resolve the equipment.
System prompt message: Resolved three Adventurers’ equipment, gained 9 pieces of Adventurer’s Remnant.
Adventurer’s Remnant: Adventurers are unique creatures that do not leave their corpses behind. Instead, they leave odd remnants that could be used to build equipment.
