Tang Yiting pulled on her skirt to cover her knees and boldly and confidently crossed her legs. She gave Li Qiao a sidelong glance and asked, “I heard your fiance is super handsome. Are you really okay with calling it off?”
“Super handsome?” Li Qiao cracked a shallow smile and lowered her eyes as Shang Yu’s breathtaking face popped in her head. “Your standards are too low!” she said.
“That’s impossible!” Tang Yiting took out her phone and swiped it before turning the screen to Li Qiao. She said solemnly, “Please take a closer look. How is this face not handsome?”
Li Qiao took a gander at the screen. It was a professional headshot of Shang Lu.
He looked nothing special. How was that handsome?
Li Qiao shifted her eyes to Tang Yiting’s face and flashed a relaxed smile. “Where did you get the photo?” she asked.
“My cousin sent it to me. He’s also the one who told me the news about your engagement,” Tang Yiting added. “You still remember my cousin, right? Lu Xiheng, the pretty man with waist-length hair.”
A pretty man with waist-length hair…
Li Qiao was confused for a moment, then answered, “Oh…” She didn’t remember him.
Tang Yiting saw Li Qiao’s expression and immediately realized that Li Qiao had no recollection of him at all.
After all, apart from having the greatest wealth in Nanyang, the Li Family were also blessed with good looks.
They all looked like gorgeous movie stars!
Needless to say, Li Qiao also had a stunning face. She could be both sexy and innocent and had always been the most beautiful girl in her class and in school. Unfortunately, because of how standoffish and unapproachable she was, not a single guy dared to express his love for her. They were afraid of being humiliated.
Dispirited, Tang Yiting held her phone and sighed with pity, “Such a handsome man. What a shame.”
Li Qiao shot her a glance and stood up, shaking her head. “I’m going out for a walk,” she said.
“Where are you going? I can keep you company…” Tang Yiting was about to follow her, but Li Qiao waved her hand, holding her phone, and said, “No need. I’m going to the Accounting Room.”
“All right.” Tang Yiting could only let her go.
The Nanyang Entertainment Center was a part of the Li Family’s business empire. Li Guangming adored his daughter and had granted her 45% equity when he first established the Entertainment Center. Li Qiao was a fit and proper boss here.
…
The Entertainment Center had become well-developed over the past few years. There was now a casino, an opera house, an art museum, and countless bars, restaurants, and galleries.
Like a town that never sleeps, it was always crowded, even after midnight.
Li Qiao strolled down the long corridor and took the elevator to go to the Blue Night Bar in the lower level of the Entertainment Center.
The night was only just getting started here.
The bar had two separate areas. On one side was a lounge with quiet music and an elegant design, while on the other side was a nightclub with thumping beats and party animals.
Li Qiao knew her way well. She went straight to the bar counter in the lounge. The violin music drifted in from the lounge area, creating an even dreamier ambiance.
The bartender placed a glass of Mojito in front of Li Qiao. She sat on a high stool, one foot resting on the floor, and raised her chin. “Thank you,” she said.
“You’re welcome. You haven’t been here in a while!”
The bartender’s name was Wen Shi. He was twenty-four years old, two years older than Li Qiao. He was a typical graduate student from an ordinary family who had a part-time job at the bar to work his way through school.
Li Qiao wasn’t close friends with him, but he always made her a Mojito whenever she came to the bar in the Entertainment Center.
At that moment, Wen Shi studied Li Qiao’s impassive face. He pursed his lips and asked, “I heard that you’re graduating from college next month. Do you plan on pursuing more degrees?”
Li Qiao took a sip from the glass and answered blankly, “I’m not sure.”
“Actually, I think…”
But before Wen Shi could finish his sentence, someone in a private room behind him to the right kicked the door and angrily shouted, “Shang Shaoyan, where the hell is my big brother? You grabbed him! This is a society under the rule of law. Don’t think you can cover it up!”
Shang Shaoyan?
