Li Qiao pushed off the floor with her foot to swivel around in the stool to see what was happening behind her.
The man was still yelling and cursing, and he looked a little crazy and unhinged with his bloodshot eyes.
The strike plates of the wooden door he’d just kicked were broken, and the door was about to fall off the jamb.
Li Qiao casually shifted her eyes to the inside of the private room. Through the half-meter gap between the door and the frame, she saw a familiar face.
Shang Yu was sitting on the curved sofa in the private room. He placed one arm flat on the back of the sofa and delivered a cigarette to his lips with his other hand.
He looked relaxed and charmingly wild.
The shouting man’s presence and angry threats didn’t seem to have any effect on him at all.
The white smoke swirled around and blurred his angular and attractive face. Li Qiao couldn’t see him clearly, but that only intensified the restless desire growing in her heart.
Still holding a cocktail shaker, Wen Shi looked in the same direction as Li Qiao and muttered quietly, “That man… Is he really Shang Shaoyan?”
There was probably no one in the entire Nanyang who hadn’t heard of Shang Shaoyan.
His Emperor Yan Corporation was composed of pharmaceutical, technology, arms and defense, banks, artificial intelligence, and many other industries.
The Corporation was basically the economic lifeline of the whole Nanyang.
Such a man indeed deserved the reputation as the Overlord of Nanyang.
Li Qiao didn’t seem to hear Wen Shi’s question. Her eyes followed the cigarette in Shang Yu’s hand as he raised it and eventually placed it to his lips.
His lips were thin and rose-colored. The outline was clear even when he pursed them together to smoke the cigarette. Poised and self-possessed, he narrowed his inscrutable eyes while exhaling the smoke.
Li Qiao was engrossed in watching his face. Maybe the man sensed her intense stare, because he raised his eyebrows and slightly tilted his head as he leaned forward to extinguish the cigarette. They looked at each other at the same time.
She unexpectantly felt some inexplicable feelings the moment their eyes met in the dim and hazy light in the quiet lounge.
He’d noticed her!
Li Qiao unabashedly looked right into his eyes without even a trace of embarrassment at being caught. She didn’t even flinch.
With a somber face, Shang Yu looked away. In a second, he uncrossed his legs, stood up, and walked out of the private room.
From start to finish, he didn’t spare the shouting guy a glance. In a flash, his tall and slender figure disappeared through the bar’s exit.
At this point, two eye-catching men also walked out of the private room. One of them patted the shouting guy on his shoulders and exclaimed sarcastically, “Bro, your bravery is praiseworthy!”
The other one also stared at the guy with steely eyes and sneered at him, “Didn’t you want to know where your big brother is? Come with us. Let’s have a chat outside!”
It seemed like the drama had come to an end.
Many people in the bar silently stared in the direction in which Shang Yu had eft.
Was that exceptionally handsome man the mysterious Shang Shaoyan?
In less than a minute, the shouting guy was taken away, and the lounge regained its quiet and relaxed atmosphere.
Li Qiao pursed her lips and swiveled back around to face the bar counter. She took another sip of the Mojito. The drink wasn’t too strong and had a bit of a tart taste, exactly like the enigmatic look Shang Yu had given her just now.
In the meantime, she heard heavy footsteps approach her from behind. A large shadow loomed over her, and she heard a man say, “Miss Li, Master Yan invited you to come over.”
Li Qiao looked back nonchalantly, her hand holding the glass feezing in mid-air. Oh, it was one of the bodyguards she’d seen in the garden that afternoon.
There was no denying that the bodyguard was scrutinizing Li Qiao even more carefully tonight. He’d served Master Yan for a long time now, and Li Qiao was the first girl he’d ever asked to meet.
