Phoenix Descends – Queen with a Thousand Pets - Chapter 1

In the dead of winter, Taihu Lake sparkled with silvery light within waves of fog. As the wind blew, crystals shone in the fog that felt like rain due to the freezing temperature.

When Ling Qingyu fell from the boat into the lake, the freezing water awoke her as though she had been drunk. As she tried to stretch, she found her body already frozen. She lost control of her limbs as they began to cramp.

She saw her life flash before her eyes as she suffocated and sank.

The last thirty years flew by quickly, before finally settling on the memory of her father’s memorial dinner. A beautiful girl laughed quietly in her husband’s arms while he had a surprised but relaxed expression.

She just completed her divorce papers and gained her freedom. Will her life end like this?

Sinking in silence, a sudden feeling of reluctance filled Ling Qingyu’s heart.

“Yu-er~, Yu-er~.”

“Mom! What happened to my mom?”

Lin Qingyu struggled, but her rigid body only sank faster.

“No! Mother!”

A distant voice resonated as if it were right next to her. 

In a flash, her body broke away from the icy lake. Ling Qingyu suddenly found herself in a white space. Sure enough, she had died. Was this heaven? Or was this hell?

Mother…

Ling Qingyu blindly stumbled toward that soft call and found a young girl crying on the floor.

“Is it you?” The young girl raised her head. Her plump face flashed a pair of swollen, teary eyes on her plump face.

“It’s me,” answered Ling Qingyu subconsciously. The feeling of irritation immediately overtook her. What kind of conversation is this? But, why does this little girl’s face look so familiar? Her figure, her pie-like face, her firm butt and full chest. From the reel of memories that played whilst she sank, one resurfaced: a middle schooler fighting at a street stand.

This is me?!

Yet why is she dressed in a traditional dress and why does she appear so fragile?

“I was hurt by a traitor and died in Taihu Lake,” the girl stated as she stood up. “Though my father and brother were both murdered, I am powerless to take revenge. Since you and I are one and the same, I ask you to take care of my mother and help me get my revenge.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she threw herself forward.

Ling Qingyu collided with her and fell, but the floor vanished. With a “bang,” Ling Qingyu felt as if she entered a container. Then her ears started ringing…
