Chapter 8: How Can It Be Like This?
Seeing that her son had taken the medicine, Madam Lin finally believed Gu Feiyan. She was incomparably happy. “Little medicine girl, you…”
“Don’t speak!” Gu Feiyan’s voice was fierce, refusing to be disturbed. In General Cheng’s current state, if he choked, he might not even have the strength to cough and might even choke to death. She had to be very careful.
Madam Lin was an esteemed person and had never been so vicious before. However, she actually kept her mouth shut, even signaling for everyone around her to keep quiet.
Amidst the silence, Gu Feiyan was feeding spoonful after spoonful. Her expression was focused and her techniques professional. She didn’t look like a little medicine girl at all, but more like an experienced and skilled senior pharmacist. The more they looked at her, the more they felt that she was not ordinary. Gradually, the disdain that they had for her disappeared, replaced by appreciation and admiration. One had to know that there were a lot of capable people in the imperial pharmacy, but there were few capable and courageous women like Gu Feiyan.
Medical care is about life, medicine is more about life. Most of the time, being a physician requires not only the ability but courage as well. Even a pharmacist, or even higher level pharmacist would not dare to be so decisive in an emergency like today, much less Gu Feiyan!
Everyone was focused on Gu Feiyan while Old Eunuch Wu, who had been quiet all this while, felt disdain towards all this. He laughed in his heart. So what if she fed him the medicine? Imperial Physician Su’s prescription had been tampered with. His master had said that this medicine must be a life-stealing medicine, and someone has to take the blame.
The corners of Old Eunuch Wu’s lips curled up in a smug smile as he watched the bowl of medicine become less and less. He was very sure that this bowl of medicine was useless and that General Cheng would soon die!
However, the medicine was slowly being consumed. General Cheng’s situation did not worsen but rather became more stable than before. Old Eunuch Wu felt uneasy as he comforted himself that the medicinal effects might not be as quick.
Madam Lin was surprised and nervous at the same time. She changed from her previous attitude to a friendly tone and carefully asked Gu Feiyan, “Little girl, can you let him lie down now?”
Gu Feiyan put away the small bamboo spoon and carefully helped General Cheng up, allowing him to lean on Madam Lin’s shoulder. She then lightly patted his back. Very quickly, General Cheng lightly belched.
Only then did Gu Feiyan speak, “Alright, let General Cheng lie down. Servant girl, please tell me the time. After the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, the military doctor will come and take his pulse!”
Everyone obediently did as she said. Gu Feiyan retreated to the side and gently rubbed her hands. She still felt a bit uneasy. After all, she was a pharmacist, not a physician. To treat a patient, the most important thing was the physician’s diagnosis, followed by the medicine! Only if the diagnosis is correct will the medicine be able to achieve the desired effect. In other words, whether General Cheng could live or not depended on Imperial Physician Su’s diagnosis.
The time it took to make a cup of tea was not long, nor was it short. Everyone nervously waited. When the time came, the military doctor hurried forward to check his pulse. Luckily, they were all pleasantly surprised.
“The general’s pulse has improved! He was getting better! Imperial Physician Su was indeed the head of the imperial physician, this medicine worked really quickly! The general is out of danger! Congratulations to Madam and General! ”

Gu Feiyan leaned aside and finally let out a sigh of relief. She had been involved in such a life-threatening matter as soon as she was reborn, but now it had finally been settled. It really was easy!
Madam Lin was unable to hide her excitement as she covered her mouth while laughing and crying. She wanted to hug her son, but she didn’t dare. She kept tucking in his bedding and murmuring to herself, “It’s good that you’re okay, it’s good that you’re okay!”
Old Eunuch Wu was dumbfounded as he stood rooted to the spot with a marvelous expression.
The prescription and medicine had been checked on the spot, and there would be people supervising it while it was being boiled. There shouldn’t be any problems!
How could this be?
