By his side, An Guoyu furrowed his brows. He turned towards Nie and spoke softly, “Mayor, are you implying that Lin Zhengxing ordered this?”

Nie Zhenbang nodded and turned to An Guoyu saying, “Old An, there’s a good chance. I don’t think anyone else in Wanghai city is foolish enough to throw away one million for this, especially since it means crossing the government. Besides him, who else would dare to do it?”

At this moment, Lin Chunnan, Secretary of the Wanghu District Party Committee, came forward and whispered, “Mayor, our investigation found out that this Tianye Company was only registered a few days ago, and it’s a shell company. It seems like someone is really trying to stir up trouble.”

From the other end of the line, Xiao Shanming’s respectful voice came: “Mayor, how do you do?”

Hearing Xiao Shanming’s voice, Nie Zhenbang paused before slowly saying, “Director Xiao, there seems to be some work pending in terms of security operation in the city. Many citizens have complained about the roaring engines at night. The street racers in Wanghai City are becoming too audacious. People are even afraid to venture out at night. I suggest that your Bureau start cracking down on this illegal car racing so that the citizens can have a peaceful night.”

After hanging up, Xiao Shanming pondered on Mayor Nie’s words. From what he learned just now, Lin Zhengxing had disrupted the land auction. Though Nie Zhenbang was certain it was Lin’s doing, there was nothing he could do about it.

It’s not unusual to win an auction but fail to transact. If someone is willing to forfeit their deposit, there’s nothing else to say. After all, they have accepted the responsibility of breaching the contract. Furthermore, even if they were to hold someone responsible, they wouldn’t be able to pin it on Lin Zhengxing. The mysterious Tianye Company has no obvious ties to him. Punishing a small fry has no meaning.
