Reluctantly Willing - Chapter 50
Chapter 50: Hold Against
Early this morning, Gu Jun looked cold. There was only An Xiaoyan in the house. He went and stood beside Gu Jun.
Smelling the alcohol emanating from Gu Jun’s body, An Xiaoyan could not stop himself from frowning, but he quickly shed the expression.
During his days in Night Charm Luxurious Nightclub, he used to be the same, returning home daily reeking of alcohol. He was not qualified to detest the current state of Gu Jun.
Although he drank a lot of wine, Gu Jun’s mind was still sober. He leaned on An Xiaoyan and wanted to ask him how painful it was when he spent the night with Nan Qiang at the Night Charm Luxurious Clubhouse.
How much did he endure that a person like Nan Qiang, who was known to have low boredom threshold and fond of cycling through partners, would reminisce the feeling.
He bit his tongue and could not bring himself to say a single word.
It was obvious that he was the one who pushed An Xiaoyan into the pit of fire. If he were to ask that question, it would be like pouring salt over the wound.
After Gu Jun closed his eyes and leaned on An Xiaoyan for a while, he could feel the stiffness of An Xiaoyan’s body. Gu Jun said something indirectly.
“Are you afraid of pain?”
Pain? Who is not afraid of pain? That type of heartbreaking feeling makes living worse than death.
Looking at the An Xiaoyan’s expression, Gu Jun knew the answer.
“Then how did you survive that night at Night Charm Luxurious Clubhouse?”
It felt like a wound which was scarred and healed, but was torn open and bleeding again.
An Xiaoyan did not answer, but pushed Gu Jun aside and knelt on the floor.
Without any dignity, his forehead touched the ground and a muffled sound shook Gu Jun’s heart.
“Get up. In the future, you are not allowed to kneel without my permission. Get up!” An Xiaoyan, why do you want to see yourself lighter than dust? Why do you kneel so easily?
At Gu Jun’s command, An Xiaoyan stood up.
“Don’t throw me in there again. I can do anything, as long as you don’t give me to that man again.” That night he saw a fat man, rubbing his body vigorously, as if to rub off a layer of his skin.
The physical pain was so severe that he had to bite on his lips hard throughout the ordeal. In the end, his mouth was covered with blood.
I won’t throw you in there again. I won’t let you experience that kind of pain again.
“Don’t kneel on the floor so casually in the future.” The floor is cold, not good for your knees. But he could not bring himself to say it out loud.
“Okay.” An Xiaoyan paused for a moment and then added, “I’ll only kneel again when Mr. Gu asks me to kneel.”
Gu Jun had a feeling of helplessness. An Xiaoyan was so obedient at all times. He preferred that An Xiaoyan had a little temper, cried and expressed his real thoughts.
“I’m going to bed.”
An Xiaoyan walked him upstairs. After the door was closed, An Xiaoyan was about to leave when Gu Jun came out of the room again.
“I’ll sleep in your room.”
Lying in An Xiaoyan’s bed, Gu Jun deeply inhaled the scent coming from the quilt. It was the smell of An Xiaoyan. The familiar smell relaxed Gu Jun’s nerves and he gradually fell asleep.
Only by making sure that An Xiaoyan was by his side could he feel at ease.
An Xiaoyan glanced at the person in bed, closed the door gently, and went downstairs to sit in the living room on the first floor.
Just as he sat down, Guo Guo came down from the other side of the stairs and skipped to sit beside him.
“Guo Guo, you’ve woken up so early.”
The nanny came panting and put on the young master’s sweater. “He woke up early in the morning and called out to you. He wasn’t even properly dressed before he got out of bed. I couldn’t catch up with him.”
Guo Guo hugged An Xiaoyan’s waist and rolled all over him. No matter how hard the nanny persuaded Guo Guo, he would not listen.
“Guo Guo, let’s go and eat breakfast.”
Guo Guo nodded and pulled An Xiaoyan to the dining room. An Xiaoyan’s feet were just about to touch the floor when Guo Guo slipped his slippers under his feet.
“Such a good boy.” An Xiaoyan smoothed Guo Guo’s hair that stood up, and his mood was elevated. No one had ever done this for him, and this person was only a child.
With slippers on his feet, An Xiaoyan opened his arms and tried to carry Guo Guo. It was only a dozen steps from the living room to the dining room. However, An Xiaoyan was panting so hard, as if he had just fought a battle.
It was as if Guo Guo had discovered something new, as soon as An Xiaoyan put him down, he opened his arms and asked to be carried again.
“Eat your breakfast first. After eating, Uncle will play with you.”
The nanny brought the breakfast out to the dining room. She gave Guo Guo some bread, milk and steamed buns. Yet, in front of An Xiaoyan was a bowl of meat porridge.
“This is what Mr. Gu had ordered.”
Initially, he thought that it was simply a bowl of plain porridge, but it tasted so flavorful in his mouth. After stirring the porridge with a spoon, he found many pieces of pork at the bottom of the bowl.
“Mr. Gu told me to make some blood-enriching but light food. I made this porridge in the morning, it’s good for your health.”
An Xiaoyan stared at the porridge and did not understand what Gu Jun meant. He had been living off Gu Jun, and wondered why did Gu Jun had to care about him?
While he was still deep in thought, a spoon reached into his bowl. He looked up and saw Guo Guo eating his porridge.
“You can’t eat this. Children can’t eat this. Guo Guo, you can only eat this when you are older.”
Guo Guo sat obediently and drank his milk.
Gu Jun woke up and came downstairs. He saw two people lying on their stomachs on the floor of the living room, and was unsure of what they were doing.
As he got closer, he saw that both An Xiaoyan and Guo Guo were playing with a jigsaw puzzle.
The picture was a big duck with a big mouth. It looked really comical.
Gu Jun picked up Guo Guo and put him on the sofa. An Xiaoyan slowly rose to his feet and stood next to Gu Jun with his head bowed.
“I’m sorry.”
Gu Jun was puzzled by the unexpected apology. Before he could figure out the reason, An Xiaoyan went on.
“I shouldn’t have put the child on the floor.”
“An Xiaoyan.” Gu Jun looked at An Xiaoyan who looked like he wished to bury himself.
“Hmm.”
“I’ll send someone to carpet the floor.”
“Great, then the young master can play on the floor.”
“Call him Guo Guo from now on, not young master.” An Xiaoyan kept a low posture at all times, even bowing several times when he met the servants. Gu Jun wanted An Xiaoyan to raise his head and lift his chest, but in doing so, An Xiaoyan would feel that he was humiliated.
Soon renovation workers laid a furry carpet on the first floor, which was as soft as cotton.
The villa was furnished with floor heaters. Heat was steaming up from under the floor. The whole house felt warm and comfortable.
An Xiaoyan was playing on the ground with Guo Guo in his arms. Gu Jun looked down at the duo from the second floor and saw the ankle of An Xiaoyan. He had a sudden revelation that there was nothing wrong with this.
At least, An Xiaoyan was by his side, and he could see him at any time he wished.
…
“Are we sure we want to do that?” Gao Shan asked with uncertainty.
“There’s nothing wrong with overthrowing Gu Jun. Besides, once I become the head of the Gu family, you will be the mistress of the Gu family.”
Gao Shan felt that it sounded quite reasonable. In business, everything is competitive and very unforgiving. Besides, sooner or later, she would be part of the Gu family too, it would be reasonable for her to make use of the power from her family.
“I will tell my dad about this tomorrow. My dad knows many people from the media industry. Once this is uploaded online, I’m sure Gu Jun’s reputation will be tarnished.”
Gu Jing embraced Gao Shan in his arms, though his eyes appeared somewhat grim.
Gu Jun, finally, I’ve something that I can hold against you.
