The owner of the voice was a middle-aged man with a big belly. He was looking at Jiang Ming with a friendly smile on his face.
But the thing that made Jiang Ming frown was that there were about twenty to thirty players behind him and they did not look friendly.
He took a minute to look through the middle-aged man’s information and found out that his name was ‘Third Fatty Master’ which sounded like a gangster’s nickname.
“No! I’m not selling anything!”
After reading through Third Fatty Master’s information, Jiang Ming immediately rejected the offer and was about to turn around and leave.
“You brat! Are you looking for trouble? It’s an honour that the Third Fatty Master is willing to buy your equipment! How dare you reject his offer!”
After taking two steps, Jiang Ming heard one of them screaming at him. Then, he stopped, turned around, and looked at the player who had shouted.
When he saw the player, he paused and a look of relief appeared on his face. The player that was screaming at him was the same lifestyle player that he saw at the mine earlier. It must have been that Jiang Ming’s action in the novice village had caught his attention, so he brought along Third Fatty Master for help.
“What are you looking at? I’m telling you… you better give us all of your coins and equipment, or else…..” That player was staring at Jiang Ming and warned with a face full of arrogance.
“Shut up! Are you the boss here or am I the boss?!” Third Fatty Master interjected before the player could continue. Then, he turned his attention to Jiang Ming and said with a smile, “My brother is right. Give us your equipment and gold coins. Not only would you be able to join us, but you would also be protected by the Thunder Tiger Gang as well.”
Thunder Tiger Gang?
Jiang Ming kept quiet for a moment and thought about the news of H City that he had heard from three years ago. If he remembered correctly, the Poison Hawk Gang, which was one of the top three gangs in H City, were annihilated. Then, it was the Thunder Tiger Gang that took over its place. Ever since then, the Thunder Tiger Gang grew so powerful that it even overtook the other two gangs.
However, Jiang Ming did not want to be involved with these gangs. Plus, they were now in a game and his actual identity was protected by the system, which meant that they wouldn’t be able to find him in real life. Therefore, he wasn’t even afraid and asked coldly, “What if I refuse?”
“You refuse?” Third Fatty Master was still smiling, but by now, the smile had already turned cold, “Then I promise you that you would not be able to survive in this novice village after this!”
“Are you threatening me?” Jiang Ming’s face turned dark as he stared at Third Fatty Master.
“You can think of it that way as well!” Third Fatty Master said while laughing.
Jiang Ming said with a cold smile, “Well, we’ll see about that!”
“Since you’re about to refuse the chance that I’m giving you, I shall teach you a lesson!” After hearing Jiang Ming’s reply, the smile on Third Fatty Master’s face disappeared, and he ordered his followers with a smirk on his face.
After hearing his orders, the group of players behind him took out their weapons and charged towards Jiang Ming.
When Jiang Ming saw what was about to happen, his face turned solemn. He took out the bronze sword from his inventory and ran towards the mine.
“Although I have an additional 2 points in speed but since we’re all still in the beginner phase, it won’t make much difference. It’ll be too difficult for me to escape with so many of them surrounding me. The only way now is to get them into the mine that is filled with the Black Serpents. The Black Serpents would help with getting rid a small group of them and I would be able to kill the remaining ones.
Just as the group behind Third Fatty Master was heading towards him, Jiang Ming had already thought of his escape route quickly.
The most important thing now for him was to survive. Luckily, most of the players were only able to choose their job classes but not a specific profession yet. So even those who were mages would only be able to use close-range combat and with the difference in their speed, none of them got close to Jiang Ming.
The Bison Zone was very close to the mine. Jiang Ming arrived at the mine within a short period of time and immediately entered the mine without any hesitation.
“Third Master, don’t go into the mine. There are a lot of Black Serpents inside that would attack the players. There’s already a group of players that were killed before this.”
Just when Third Fatty Master was about to step into the mine, the lifestyle player stopped him.
“What are you afraid of? We have about thirty people here. If we stand together, we’ll be able to defeat the monsters. Quick, let’s go.” With Third Fatty Master’s order, all of them went into the mine.
Upon entering the mine, Jiang Ming took out a fire torch that he had bought from before and the entire mine was lit up.
Just when he could see the inside of the mine, a black shadow came towards him. He immediately moved to the side and dodged the attack.
After dodging the attack, he tried to look at the black shadow with the light from his torch. Just as he looked towards the direction of the black shadow, it stopped attacking him and remained at its spot while staring at him.
A black cat?
When Jiang Ming realised that it was a black cat who attacked him, he was shocked as he muttered to himself: Didn’t they say that there were Black Serpents? Why is it a black cat now? I don’t think that there was a Black Cat Monster on this map!
Just when Jiang Ming was confused, the black cat was staring at him with a look of excitement on its face: it was his master!
“Haha, Misty River. You can run but you cannot hide!”
Just when the man and cat were staring at each other, a group of people rushed into the mine. Third Fatty Master who was in the lead showed a smirk on his face.
The portal scroll was only available to those at level 10. Plus, Jiang Ming was still within their hatred range which meant that he couldn’t go offline. If he forcefully did it, he would drop two levels down and even drop some of his equipment. No wonder Third Fatty Master was so arrogant when he saw Jiang Ming in the mine.
“Hmph!”
Jiang Ming took a look at the black cat and then at the group of players behind Third Fatty Master. He put the fire torch back into his inventory and the mine immediately turned dark again. He held the bronze sword in his arms and dashed towards the direction of the group of players.
“Three-step sword!”
Jiang Ming took three steps forwards and immediately attacked his enemies in the dark.
“Ahhhhhhhh!”
One of the players gave a loud scream.
“Lifestyle players, get a fire torch out now!” Third Fatty Master shouted at the group when he heard the terrified scream.
“Ahhhhhhh!!!”
However, before anyone could light up the fire torch, there were a few screams that came from the group.
Jiang Ming, who was still attacking the players, was shocked when he heard the terrified cries and thought to himself: Eh? I didn’t attack in that direction though, why are they screaming? Is it because of the black cat?
“Deng~”
Just when he was still wondering about it, one of the players took out a fire torch and the mine was lit up again.
At the exact moment where the mine was lit up, Jiang Ming noticed a black shadow that flew across the player that was holding onto the torch. It left a claw mark on the player’s neck which was followed by terrifying damage. The damage turned into a while light that vanished and the mine turned dark once again.
“Ahhhhhh!”
Another cry rang through the mine and Third Fatty Master,who was initially hiding, trembled as he screamed, “Get out of the mine now! Go….!!!”
Before he could finish his sentence, he let out a loud scream, which was followed by complete silence.
After a period of time, the mine was still in complete silence. Then, Jiang Ming slowly took out a fire torch.
Just as he lit up the torch, he realized that there were no other players left in the mine. The only thing left was the black cat.
When he realized what had happened, Jiang Ming’s face turned pale in fear as he stared at the black cat. However, what made his heart race was the fact that the black cat was wiping his bloody paw on the floor and was walking towards him.
