Chapter 27 Why Didn’t You Tell Me Earlier? I Gave You the Map
“Go, big sister!” Han Nan cheered. Lucia was in no hurry to step forward. Instead, she turned to look at Cui Anyu and asked, “Captain, you’re not coming with me?” Cui Anyu glanced at her and said, “I don’t want to know.”
Everyone knew that curiosity would kill a cat, but there were very few people who could really restrain themselves. Yu Guang was one of them. Cui Anyu had an indifferent personality, but she was only interested in Yu Guang, so she didn’t really want to know. “Tsk, you’re really boring.” Lucia scrunched her nose and stood up to stretch.
Her slender arms and waist stretched under the mottled shadow of the trees. She was as elegant as a red-crowned crane that had always been sheltered from the sun. Her golden hair fluttered slightly under the sunlight, and her beautiful face, which had a soft glow, was pretty and innocent. Her movements caught the attention of a young beastmaster.
For a brief moment, Lucia winked at him, revealing a bright smile like the sun. After all, she was a gorgeous beauty, and she was the most eye-catching existence wherever she stood. The young man stared at her with his eyes wide open.
“Hey, what are you looking for? We want to help, too.” Lucia puffed out her chest and flipped her hair, shining with confidence.
The young man looked away with a red face and said, “Nothing, just don’t move.”
“Tell me, our two sides are working together. Why are you being so polite?” Lucia thought for a while and said, “It’s probably related to these two fugitives. Our chief said that they stole something. Are you looking for that?”
“Yes.”
Xie Heji’s information clearly stated the crimes committed by the two, including the robbery of rich merchants. Lucia only revealed a bit of information, but she didn’t say all of it. However, the effect was outstanding. Ke Zhen immediately noticed them.
He quickly walked over and sized up the four of them. He raised his eyebrows and said, “What are you talking about?”
The young man immediately whispered something into Ke Zhen’s ear. He even pointed at the two ice sculptures. Ke Zhen immediately changed his smile and said, “Are you sure that they are fugitives?”
“Of course, or else why would we be even here?” Lucia pouted and said stubbornly. Regardless of if they were fugitives or not, they had to be fugitives now!
Ke Zhen saw that she was confident, and his heart could not help but feel a little relieved. Then, he raised his head and looked at the other people who were looking for them. Finally, he compromised and said, “Alright. Earlier, we received a warning from your Awakened Home that there were two fugitives. They told us to be more careful. Then, at about the same time, we detected some abnormal energy fluctuations coming from this mountain. We heard that the prisoners took the treasure map, and we thought it might be related to the treasure, so we came to take a look.”
Upon hearing this, Lucia’s face became lively. Her beautiful eyes curved into a smile as she said, “So you guys are looking for the treasure!”
In the end, she was still too young, so she immediately let the cat out of the bag. Ke Zhen narrowed his eyes and asked suspiciously, “You guys don’t know?”
“Uh…”
“You really don’t know anything?!” Ke Zhen immediately became angry. He was actually tricked by a little girl!
Yu Guang quickly stood in front of Lucia and said with a smile, “So you’re looking for the treasure map. If you had mentioned it earlier, I would have given it to you.”
Then, he took out the goatskin map from his pocket, shook it off, and tossed it into Ke Zhen’s hand.
Everyone present, including Cui Anyu, widened their eyes in unison. Ke Zhen unfolded the treasure map with an incredulous expression. He looked at Yu Guang, then at the map. No matter how he looked at it, he could not believe what he saw.
“For me?” Ke Zhen repeatedly confirmed.
“Yep, yours.” Yu Guang nodded seriously.
Han Nan was filled with regret when he saw this scene. He thought to himself, “Yu Guang, are you stupid? Why didn’t you tell me earlier you had that good thing?!” If you had told us earlier, we wouldn’t have asked! Is there something wrong with your brain?!”
Yu Guang did not notice the shock in the eyes of his team members. He explained considerately, “Don’t worry. This map was given to me by Old Fan. I guarantee that there won’t be any problems.”
The more sincere he was, the more incredulous Ke Zhen was. He could not understand why Yu Guang was holding onto a treasure map and not going to search for the treasure. Instead, he was giving it away? Wouldn’t that make him look more like an idiot?
Why was that?
He opened his mouth slightly and stared at this honest little brother, hoping to get an answer from Yu Guang.
Yu Guang understood Ke Zhen’s look and continued to be considerate, “This map has hidden secrets. My ability is still too weak. Without this diamond, I wouldn’t be able to make a living.”
Ke Zhen was satisfied with this answer. Holding the map in his hands, he said, “Little brother, you’re an honest man. I won’t beat around the bush with you. Since you found this treasure map, half of the treasure is yours. Let’s go take a look together.”
Since the secret had been exposed, and the other party had already made their stance clear, it was better to be honest with each other.
Yu Guang also hoped so. After all, this treasure map alone already had all sorts of tricks up its sleeve. Who knew what else was waiting in the treasure location? He had never intended to take the risk alone.
Thus, he agreed readily. “Alright, let’s go and look for it together.” Everyone brightened up immediately. Whether it was Han Nan or the Beastmasters Association, they were all looking forward to seeing the treasure.
Ke Zhen held the treasure map in his hand and twirled it around. First, he found a suitable location, and then he compared it with the others. Then, he discovered that the location marked on the treasure map was near the big pit.
“Hahaha! The horizon is right in front of us!” He threw his head back and laughed loudly. Then, he called the little ones and walked straight to the pit.
“Wait!” Yu Guang stopped him. “That’s just a diversion. Try injecting your power into this treasure map.”
“Huh?” Ke Zhen opened the map again with some doubt. He found that his fingertips were numb, as if there were countless tiny thorns on them. He scratched his index finger with his fingernail. His calloused hand had lost its sensitivity. If it was because of the quality of the treasure map, he should have felt it.
After figuring this out, Ke Zhen followed Yu Guang’s instructions and tried to inject a little power into it.
The marks on the treasure map changed. The positions of the trees and rivers changed, and a new map appeared in front of everyone.
“Aiya! It’s true! Little brother, you have sharp observation skills!” Ke Zhen praised. “Little brother, what’s your name?”
“My name is Yu Guang.” Yu Guang was neither servile nor arrogant.
“Brother Yu Guang! Come, come, come with me. You have to remind us of things we don’t understand!” Ke Zhen pulled Yu Guang over in a familiar manner. It was as if he was a brother who regretted not meeting him sooner.
When he released the treasure map with one hand, the route returned to its original state.
Yu Guang reminded him again, “If you’re distracted or if you stopped injecting your power, the map will return to its original
state!”
With him by his side, Ke Zhen was like a child who had just received a toy, filled with curiosity about every part. He couldn’t stop praising Yu Guang.
The two of them naturally became the leaders of the group, walking in the middle of the group. In front of them were the Beastmasters Association members who were in charge of clearing the way, and behind them were the three newly awakened ones from the Awakened Home.
As for the two fugitives, before Yu Guang left, he asked Han Nan to put them into the pit again.
The group climbed over the top of Guotong Mountain and followed the map to find a crater the size of a football field. They could even hear the sound of flowing water below.
Yu Guang was standing at the entrance of the sinkhole. He quietly activated the Eye of Identification and said, “It’s dangerous down there. Don’t get too close.”
