Seeker of First Light - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Neutralizer… First of all, the neutralizer.
“Uh!”
Even if the smoke was bad, it was too bad.
Chryselua took off her coat before covering the materials that had broken and smoked. It was a temporary measure to prevent the smoke from spreading further. Then, with trembling hands, she began to make an antidote.
No matter how useful it was, using medicine meant using the toxicity of the material in the end. In order to deal with toxic substances, she always had detoxification in mind.
Even though she made a stupid mistake this time, it was fortunate that she kept these basic things. She didn’t know what side effects there were, but she had to neutralize the effects that made her body so hot.
“Uht, huuht…”
Her hands were still shaking, and because of that, she couldn’t even make it work delicately. Chryselua dabbled in common reagents and antidotes commonly used to suppress poisons.
Clash!
The next moment, her hand slipped and several reagent bottles spilled to the ground. A bitter smell wafted up along with the shallow wind.
“Huugh…!”
The wind swept on her skin, causing goosebumps to rise all over his body. Hearing Chryselua’s groans, Naskan was very taken aback.
“…Twi, Twilight? Are you okay, huh? Answer me!”
Bang, bang!
He kept knocking on the door. Seeing that he didn’t break down the door right away, Naskan seemed to have grown up quite a bit from his travels. However, his temper was still the same and he couldn’t just knock on the door and try to force it open.
“Are you okay?!”
“Please, b-be quiet!”
“No… why? Open the door!”
The door to Chryselua’s lab was magically double-secured, so no one would be able to open it unless he blew the door completely.
“Twilight!”
Oh, really! Why would she bring him into the lab? She would be humiliated if she showed herself like this to others.
“I-I’m fine, hu-uht…”
“…Twilight?”
The terrible medicine was making her voice strange.
Even if she said it was okay, it wasn’t a decent voice, and her tongue was twisted so it was difficult to speak now. Chryselua thought it would be better to make the neutralizer faster than to explain her situation to Naskan.
“Haa… hauh…”
Rattle!
“Chris!”
At the thought, she gritted her teeth and adjusted the medicine with ten times more concentration than usual though because it was a drug that had not been properly purified, its efficacy would be reduced.
Still, it was important to get out of the current situation.
‘Anyway, why is his voice so good? What a rich…bas…’
When the medicine was completed to some extent, Chryselua suddenly realized something and chewed her lips.
“Chris, are you okay? Huh?”
Listening to Naskan’s deep, low-pitched, masculine voice, she had been licking her lips the whole time. She briefly imagined the tall, thick body she had briefly seen before she came to the lab… Just imagining it, her body twisted in a dizzying feeling.
Crazy… crazy.
‘What’s this? What’s all this?’
It was because of the unknown drug, but still, it was shocking to think of Naskan that way for a moment.
Chryselua tried to calm her trembling hands and finished the neutralizer. As soon as she confirmed that it was all made, she gulped it down in a hurry. While it wasn’t even cold, the feeling of the liquid going down her throat was clear.
“Haaa…”
It was done.
It would have been long before the medicine kicked in, but that alone relieved the tension, and Chryselua slid down to the floor. Now, she had to ventilate and deal with the materials that were temporarily covered. She didn’t know if she would have to stay up all night to do all of this.
At the same time, she was thinking of talking about the old days while having a drink with Naskan in the evening, but the plan completely went awry.
“Twilight! Chris! Hey, Chryselua…!”
She was only able to speak properly only when the drug that had risen up to her mouth was relieved. Showing his still hot temper, Naskan continued to make noise outside the door, unaware of others’ condition.
“What are you being so noisy about?”
“What’s going on?”
Oh, my God. As Naskan screamed like that, it seemed that all the other people came rushing in.
“Why are you here?”
“That is what I want to ask, Naskandeolux.”
“It’s not your business, so get out of here.”
“You shouldn’t have made a fuss.”
She heard someone talking outside as if annoyed by Naskan, whether or not they knew about her circumstances.
“Don’t fight, you two. What the hell is going on?”
“…The kid inside seems to have collapsed while working, but the door won’t open.”
“You mean this person is still working?”
“It must be because of the preparations for the ceremony because it’s this time of year.”
“What are you talking about as if you know her so well?”
“I have business with her. What are you doing in Sedition? It’s not even a place for a fool like you to come in playfully.”
“What is this bastard talking about? What business do you have with Chris?”
“I was formally invited.”
“Don’t say anything funny!”
“You two, if you are in a hurry to fight, there is a formal arena in the central square.”
The men outside were silent for a moment. All she could see was two people arguing out of nowhere, glaring at each other.
“…It’s been a long time since she stopped answering. I have to break it down to open it. That kid has been weak since she was young.”
“Is that so? I’ll do it. The lab door is dangerous if outsiders touch it.”
“Please.”
Whiiir.
A sharp cry of magical power came. It seemed that they were thinking of breaking the door.
Oh, this was crazy. Why were they so impatient? It was made temporarily, so the effect would be reduced though she had to say that she was okay now. Before the ridiculous misunderstanding deepened, Chryselua hurriedly opened her mouth.
“Dawn, I’m fi…”
“I’m coming in!”
‘Don’t come in, you bastards…!’
Bang! Crash!
They couldn’t hear all of her words, and perhaps they didn’t even want to listen, so they broke down the door and came inside. What they saw was Chryselua, who was sitting on the floor moaning, and the sticky atmosphere in the laboratory.
Chryselua’s face flamed up.
It was because Naskan did not just come in alone. The other people who had been flocking, wondering what the fuss was, had also come in together.
It was fortunate that only three men came through the door, but it was the worst of the worst that one was Naskan and the other was Sol Noctis.
She did ask the fairies, including Sol Noctis, to come to the lab today. However, she didn’t expect they would really come. Besides, not only that the other fairies didn’t come, she never dreamed that Sol Noctis would come himself.
The other one was the one who broke down the door.
Dark skin and dark hair… the decadent impression was a typical demon tribe.
Chryselua knew who he was
The Devilkin. Axen Arc.
The devilkin was from the underworld, so they didn’t run into each other in Sedition though Axen Arc used the same laboratory building, so she remembered passing by and saying hello to him several times. He avoided every greeting, so there wasn’t much of a positive impression on him.
According to the regulations, the devilkin of the underworld should be the first to leave Sedition, so she didn’t know why Axen Arc was here.
Still, there was something else more important than that.
“Clo, close the door…!”
There was still a small amount of smoke left, so it would be a big deal if it leaked out. It was the same with the men here. However, even though she told them to close the door and leave, they closed the door and entered the laboratory instead.
She didn’t know what to say.
“Twilight, what’s going on? Huh?”
Naskan approached Chris first. He raised her from the floor and examined her anxiously.
“Dawn, I told you to wait a minute…”
“Oh, sorry. I’ll help you clean it.”
Chryselua also glanced at the devilkin, who was standing awkwardly next to her.
“Why did you break the door as you please?”
“…I’m sorry. I will compensate you.”
‘Thank you for the concern, but it’s already a headache.’
It was fortunate that the smoke had almost blown away. Just in case, she was thinking that she should make more neutralizers and feed these three men as well.
At that moment…
“…What a messy lab.”
Sol Noctis, who had been quietly watching this side, took an interest in the coat in the corner of the lab. And he stretched out his hand to it.
“Wait, no!”
‘You can’t lift that coat!’
