Starting From the Dragon Tribe
Chapter 36: Ultimate Revelation
“Hurry up!” Stern but not panicked, Lu Chen urged the driving commissioner.
Knowing that Milana was fully prepared for most dire situations, he couldn’t believe that she would so easily be knocked out by mere drugs. The expectations he had for her weren’t out of bias as a fellow member of the Lionheart Club, but rather, he was reluctant to believe that she would fall for such petty traps that even Grade B hybrids wouldn’t fall for.
Of course, being the diligent and brave lady that she was, Milana had already sensed that something was mixed in the air exhausted by the air conditioner. Instead of succumbing to the stress, she regained composure after a moment of nervousness and immediately held her breath, initiating her counterplan to expose Abner’s true color and intentions.
Even if Abner wasn’t Slaughter, capturing him for attempting such a stunt was nowhere close to wronging him.
If it weren’t to avoid startling the target, the Executive Department would have jumped on him in an instant.
However, if Milana were to open her eyes right then and there, she would undoubtedly catch Abner and his unveiled golden irises, sealing the end of his freedom.
…
“Don’t you hate her, even one bit, for teasing you along with the other kids?”
“I was frustrated… But what could I have done? I stood no chance against the bullies, and there was nothing I could do to her.”
“Then what if you were crazily strong? Would you have taught them a lesson?”
“I’m not sure. Even if I did that, would she have fallen for me?”
“Was she dating anyone among the jocks?”
Albert couldn’t voice a note.
“I guess she was. Had she done something with the other kids that you wished she did with you?”
“What do you mean?”
“You know what I mean.”
“Why are you asking such questions…”
…
Under the darkness of the sky, Abner steered his car away from the route into the woods with his headlights off, leaving his eyes as the sole source of light in the car.
As the area was filled with nothing but stillness, the department couldn’t afford to have their pursuing vehicles be spotted. Therefore, Chu Zihang and the rest hurried over and under the guise of the night, they set up an ambush as they slowly advanced from a yard away.
All of sudden, the sound of Milana’s breath was heard through the radio. She was actually conscious! However, it wasn’t time to celebrate as that suggested an incoming battle, one that she couldn’t overcome alone.
Shortly after, the commissioner who chauffeured Lu Chen arrived at the scene, completing the most oppressive boxing maneuver the department had ever deployed.
“Ah… Such tender skin! It’s almost like God made you Himself!” Carrying Milana out of the car, Abner laid the “unconscious” woman on the hood as his trembling hands fondled her body.
…
“… Fine! They did! Are you happy?!”
“Did they do it in front of you?”
Ashamed, Albert remained quiet as he clenched his fists.
“You must have been furious back then, weren’t you? That you couldn’t do anything but watch.”
Maintaining silent, he lowered his gaze to the ground as his fringe concealed his eyes, not exposing the emotions he felt at the moment.
“So you killed them all?” Out of nowhere, Lutecia’s words were like thunder that pierced through the quietude within the maple trees.
At once, confusion and fear instilled Albert’s eyes as he uttered, “Where did that come from, Miss Lutecia?”
Without a response, Lutecia merely stroked her hair. At that moment, the clouds drifted apart and the moonlight fell upon her exquisite face.
“Do I look like her?”
“… K-Kind of… But, Miss Lutecia, I don’t see you that way at all!” Albert bashfully explained.
“What about the nine women you killed? Did they look like her as well?” Lutecia went on.
“You’re scaring me, Miss! Y-You’re not making any sense! D-Did you bring me here to…”
With a face full of fright, Albert took a few steps back.

Frowning, Lu Chen thought that Lutecia had taken things too far. Why would she pick on a young lad with such low self-esteem? Has she actually found something odd with Albert?
Regardless, he would have to focus on the matter at hand as he was approaching Milana.
As Abner was about to smooch Milana who was lying on the car hood, something else made him freeze. Before his eyes were another pair of golden ones—irises that were once blue turned glowing amber.
Instantly, Abner pulled out a pocket knife from within his jacket, but he was immediately shoved backward by Milana’s ferocious somersault kick.
With the huge outburst of energy, she even left marks imprinted on the car! Quickly, she thrust herself into the sky and charged toward Abner with a kick, delivering a direct blow to the hand he was holding the knife with.
Upon landing with one foot, Milana borrowed the force of momentum and spun while her skirt whirled like a bloomed camellia. Following the sound of ripping fabric, her long legs brought upon a violent gust of wind, and she threw a tornado kick to Abner’s head and cracked his skull open, sending him flying a dozen feet away. Devastated, Abner fell into a pool of mud and could no longer make a move.
After performing the “stunning” streak, Milana scornfully shredded the skirt of her dress that was torn from her tempestuous movements and took off her heels followed by a vigorous toss of both items. If it weren’t for these cursed heels, she wouldn’t have twisted her ankle!
In the course of venting her rage, without hesitation, she urgently yelled into her radio to the department’s channel. “Abner isn’t Slaughter! Lutecia is in danger!”
Although Milana was confident with her skills, she wouldn’t expect Slaughter to be this puny. Abner was but a lowly hybrid that hid among humans in their society.
In fact, there was not a need for her information. When Lu Chen got off the vehicle, his face immediately turned pale. The exchange happening at Lutecia’s side was nothing but the ultimate revelation!
At the same time, Fremont, the director, announced through the department channel. “Latest update on the police—they’ve discovered Slaughter’s first-ever case which took place in a villa district behind Redhill Gardens. The victims included five boys and a girl. Their death patterns fit perfectly into the murderer’s M.O.!
…
“How about now? Do I look more like the woman you murdered last week?”
When Lutecia revealed her golden irises, Albert continuously retreated. As if he had seen a monster, he was completely shaken up.
“W-What are you?! Are you a demon?” Albert screamed.
“Let me guess. Based on what you said, the girl came from a rich family, and so did the bullies, am I right?”
“And about the party you mentioned. Apart from the boys and your crush who led you there, there was nobody else.”
“Later, the boys would… Ah, vulgarities… Well, you get my point.”
“You might have been restrained and beaten up. Hmm… Tied to a chair, perhaps?”
“Little innocent boy from the rural areas of Birmingham witnessing his long-adored girl crush doing dirty things and throwing insults at him. Humiliation, vexation, powerlessness. When these emotions merged into one, the boy finally erupted and ripped up the rope that was tying him up. No longer the feeble kid he was, he evolved into a rampant overlord. You… evolved into a violent slaughterer.”
“After killing them, you might even have savored the fragrance of your long-worshipped goddess. No matter how filthy she was, you couldn’t help yourself to it. And so, you’ve had the taste of being powerful. Everyone who defied you—murdered; whoever defamed you—executed. What was that if not fulfilling your desires?”
“What a depressing story, blood-boiling, if I may. If the story ended there, I honestly wouldn’t have given a sh*t. But that wasn’t the case, was it?”
“You have been dwelling on that hell of a night, for it was your very first time to relish the sweetness of strength. Like an addict hooked to drugs, you couldn’t let the experience go.”
“You were zealous toward that girl, yet loving her pained you, so you violated her, dissected her. Perhaps you cried afterward, but even God wouldn’t listen, not to the stained words of a sinner.”
“Obsessed, you couldn’t stop looking for the sensation you felt that night, so you constantly searched for girls that looked like her, constantly repeating what you did that night as if you had stopped time and visited her over and over… as if she was still alive.”
“‘Albert’ is a nice name. In Latin, it means life and breath—something that you had wondrously experienced for the first time on that night.
No longer lowering his head, Albert lifted his gaze as he raised his hand to push his bangs back, revealing a pair of glaring, golden eyes. Under the blinding spots of light was a three-way emotion of despair, joy, and insanity.
