Starting From the Dragon Tribe
Chapter 37: Chaotic Fight, Critical Situation
“Albert, you look quite handsome like that,” Lutecia remarked, but she was quietly preparing the Kotodama: Dustless Land.
“Sister Lutecia, how did you find out?” The current Albert had shedded his former servile behavior, his face now calm, and was speaking in a tone a king questioning his subject would use.
“Your parents are indeed ordinary people, which is why I didn’t initially suspect you, but I just received a new piece of info—you were adopted.”
“Just based on that, you deduced that I was the perpetrator? I don’t think I did anything suspicious today.” Albert was puzzled; it was a genuine reaction.
“Hahahaha-” Lutecia suddenly guffawed, “‘anything suspicious…’ the word ‘suspicious’ was written all over you. A welp like you… would dare start a conversation with me, a girl of such eminence?”
Lutecia’s countenance was high and mighty, and her eyes became icy. At this moment, even if her lineage fell into oblivion, her behavior would still befit a queen. “Even if I initiated the conversation, the right thing for you to do would’ve been to flee at the drop of a hat.”
“Don’t provoke him!” Fremont snarled into the earpiece; it was obvious that Lutecia was a bit agitated at this point.
“Group B, move immediately!” Fremont growled into the transmitter. He had sent a message to Lutecia 10 minutes earlier, helping Lutecia figure out what she couldn’t before, which is why she started pressing.
Hidden in the shadows, Lancelot and eight other agents had long begun to move; even in a rugged environment like the maple forest, they needed no more than ten seconds to cover 100 meters.
But Albert made his move too. His originally frail body swelled up, shredding his shirt, instantly transforming into a small giant about 2 meters in height. Every step he took, every gesture he made, was like a mountain moving.
Lutecia swiftly retreated, but she was clearly no match for Albert’s speed; they collided, yet that huge hand did not reach her body.
Kotodama: Dustless Land.
Everything except the air was cleared one meter around Lutecia.
Albert’s body was bulging with muscles at this point, their surface glistening with a bronze hue. His piercing golden pupils were filled with rage. All his wounds were caused by this woman in front of him, and because of that, he would rip her apart, just as he did to all the ones before!
He was repelled by this strange force, yet he did not stop, and with a great roar, shot out like a cannonball, sending leaves and dirt flying, leaving behind a large crater.
Boom—!
An ear splitting sound reverberated through the air. The trees shook, maple leaves fell. Lutecia’s Dustless Land was broken through; her body swayed back, both ears flowing blood.
Albert displayed a bloodthirsty smile, preparing to start the night’s activities, but suddenly, a lion-like man, armed with a hunting knife, slashed down. He was cloaked with stars and moons; every star was a bullet.
The Group B operation force had launched an all-out attack!
The bullets caused nothing but sparks on Albert’s body; these Frigga bullets, due to lack of kinetic energy, were like toys, unable to pierce his iron-like body in order for the sedative inside to take effect.
Yet fresh blood still spurted into the air: it was Lancelot’s slash!
In his hand was an alchemic sword; with his lightning-fast speed, he would be able to chop something like steel in half, yet he only damaged his adversary’s epidermis, much less a tendon!
Kotodama: Bronze Throne
This high level Kotodama, with its extreme strength and heightened defense, made this originally cowardly boy into a vicious killer.
And the scales that were gradually emerging meant that he was becoming more like the dragon race.
Lancelot was shook to the bone by that burst of energy, yet he did not stop. He jumped back, lowered his body, and once again charged toward Albert, this time aiming for his legs.
The wind sounded, the leaves rippled. Lancelot was stunned: he had missed.
People subconsciously believe creatures who are huge and strong are clumsy and awkward, but this is an incorrect assumption.
An increase of strength will naturally lead to an increase of speed. If Albert had tanked the first blow while off guard, he had no reason to resist the second one.
As a humongous foot descended, Lancelot was trying his best to dodge, but he had overextended, so he was unable to react in time.
He felt as if his internal organs were forcibly rearranged, as if hit by a small truck head-on.
Boom—he collided into a young maple tree, snapping it half, and coughing up a mouthful of blood, vision blurring. But he was an elite! An elite of the Lionheart Club, no less! He gritted his teeth and prepared to cast a Kotodama!
“Lancelot, stop it!”
A few agents rushed to stop him. Had Lancelot used his Kotodama here, then Redhill Gardens would be history: a fire would engulf this entire park, and it would become the top headline the next day!
The agents, realizing bullets were hardly a threat for this muscle monster, promptly drew their melee weapons and surrounded Albert. One by one, golden pupils flared up, and Kotodamas were being chanted.
The golden pupils were like fireflies in the night, dancing to the tune of swords hacking away at the depraved boy.
Swords gleamed hither, fireflies flitted thither.
Kotodama: Black Thunder
Kotodama: The King’s Attendant
Kotodama: Deep Blood
Under the siege of the agents, the monster finally started receiving wounds, but as he roared in anger, those wounds quickly closed, his explosive muscles undulating and rippling underneath his skin. The scales that were just a shadow before were gradually solidifying.
Albert had not undergone any combat training; he was flailing about based on instinct, yet even that made it difficult for the experienced agents to close in.
He could afford to blunder many times, but his fist, which could punch with power close to three tons, meant that the agents could not blunder even once!
In less than ten seconds of fighting, two agents were taken out.

“The enemy is far stronger than we thought. This was a failure on my part.” Fremont took off his hat. He was experienced enough to know that those agents would be unable to take care of the monster, and Group A was nearly 10 kilometers away; even if they had the world’s fastest car, they would be unable to use it in a city at seven or eight o’clock. He mobilized the helicopter, but a winner would probably be decided in less than three minutes.
He knew that Group B had a student whose Kotodama was Blaze, but even if he used that, would it really be able to dispatch a monster who was already beginning to dragonize?
“Lu Chen, what are you doing?”
At that moment, he saw Lu Chen remove Red Maple from the car.
“What am I doing?” Lu Chen cocked his head, then grinned, “Of course I’m going to save Senior Sister!”
And maybe also butcher that bastard who sounded pretty strong along the way.
He leaned over; gusts of wind started to blow, raising the hair of the Group A members. His figure disappeared at the end of the path.
“Kotodama… Split Second.”
Chu Zihang quietly uttered as he watched the disappearing figure.
TL Note: Split Second is also known as the Kotodama: Moment.
