Chapter 60: Achoo!!!
For today’s activity, Jiang Qinghua had used the money he had gotten during the New Year and shopped for half a day to purchase a new set of Nike sportswear.
However, no one was looking at him.
Even Zhang Yue wasn’t looking at him.
It was alright if he couldn’t win in studying or in basketball.
However, was he, Handsome Jiang, not going to be able to keep his title of “Handsome”?
Jiang Qinghua looked at Li Zheng, who was being surrounded by the girls, and shivered.
He then fiercely bit his lips until it caused him pain.
“Pull yourself together. Don’t be flustered,” he thought.
“It doesn’t matter what other people are doing.”
“There’s undoubtedly only one real purpose for this activity.”
“Hmhmhm.” A voice rang out.
“She’s here!” Jiang Qinghua thought.
Jiang Qinghua quickly turned around and walked forward before the other students did.
Lin Yujing was dressed in a rather heavy khaki windbreaker and a white waistband.
She immediately let out an “Achoo!” when she saw Jiang Qinghua.
She sneezed.
She quickly took out a piece of tissue and wiped her snot.
Jiang Qinghua froze.
“It’s alright that you spat out my lozenge,” he thought.
“Now you’re even allergic to my scent?”
“Aiyaya.” Zhang Xiaoke shuffled over familiarly. “All you know how to do is feed cats their medicine. Now you’ve gotten the flu, haven’t you?”
“Hey…” Lin Yujing wore a silly smile as she rubbed her nose.
Li Zheng also walked forward, a little concerned.
“Is Jingjing alright?” he asked.
Jiang Qinghua trembled.
It was like lightning in clear daylight.
The lightning landed squarely on his body.
The lightning rendered him immobile.
“Did I hear wrongly just now?” he thought.
“What did Li Zheng say?”
“Jingjing?”
“He called her Jingjing?”
“When? What rights do you have? D*mn it.”
“Hm.” Lin Yujing blushed and nodded her head.
Boom!
Another lightning strike!
Jiang Qinghua asked in a daze, “Yujing… You guys…”
Lin Yujing had just turned to look at Jiang Qinghua when she immediately had another urge to sneeze. Her nose twitched as she tilted her head up. “Achoo!!!!”
At that moment, Jiang Qinghua seemed to have heard something.
Crack, crack, crack, crack…
That was the sound of his heart being shattered to pieces.
Li Zheng moved closer to Lin Yujing and smiled gently. “It’s good that she’s fine. Our Jingjing is the strongest.”
Lin Yujing nodded, then looked at Li Zheng. She wanted to say something but stopped herself. She lowered her head, still blushing.
Crack, crack, crack, crack…
Jiang Qinghua was crushed once again.
Li Zheng asked continuously about Jingjing for the next few minutes.
Jiang Qinghua gradually lost his ability to think.
He even forgot how to walk to the entrance of the ward.
It was only when the lady guarding the door scolded him that he snapped back to his senses.
“A patient can only receive visits from four family members,” the lady scolded as she looked at the students, who numbered half a class. “And you’re not family.”
Everyone present was high-schoolers with limited life experience. They couldn’t deal with such a situation. Thus, they naturally pushed Jiang Qinghua over to the lady.
Jiang Qinghua’s heart shook.
“Do you all only think of me during such a situation?” he thought.
“Did no one notice that I’m wearing a new set of Nikes?”
However, as the class monitor, he had to undertake the responsibility no matter how upset he was.
“Madam, the patient is our homeroom teacher.” He forcefully lifted his spirits and said, “How about we go in four at a time? Our teacher is about to undergo surgery. We want to send our blessings.”
The lady scrutinized Jiang Qinghua.
“This lad is rather energetic,” she thought.
“But he seems strangely sad.”
“Alright.” She glanced at her watch and nodded. “But there are only about eight minutes left until visiting hours end. Make use of the time.”
Jiang Qinghua quickly pushed four of the students into the ward sector. “Mrs. Hu is in 1005. We have to follow the lady’s orders. Move faster.”
The four of them hurriedly entered the ward sector, while the 20 or so who were left could only wait.
Li Zheng looked at his watch.
1005 should be the ward at the very back of the place. It took three to five minutes to just walk there and come back, and another three to five minutes to say a few words to Mrs. Hu. If that was the case, only two groups of students would be able to visit Mrs. Hu.
“It can’t be helped. I’ll use personal connections,” he thought.
He quickly sent a message to Cheng Wenyue.
[16: 22]
[Li Zheng: Students from our class have come to visit. Please get the receptionist to let us in. Don’t make too much of a deal out of it.]
[Cheng Wenyue: I’m speaking to the family of a patient. I’ll come when I’m done.]
…
The truth showed that the group inside was far slower than imagined.
Six minutes had passed, but they still hadn’t appeared in the corridor.
The lady stood up and said, “Alright. It’s good enough that you showed up and gave her your thoughts. We have to clear the area in two minutes.”
The students all felt disappointed.
A few complaints could already be heard.
“Jiang Qinghua, why did you arrange for us to come so late?”
“Didn’t you ask about the rules beforehand?”
“Sigh, what a wasted trip.”
Jiang Qinghua felt upset when he heard these comments.
“I didn’t want you to come,” he thought.
“I wanted to come with Lin Yujing alone, alright!”
“Even if more people wanted to come, four to five people were enough.”
“But all of you had to come.”
“As for the late timing, you guys can blame me for that.”
“After all, it was part of the plan.”
“Think about it. After we finish visiting Mrs. Hu at 5 p.m., it isn’t too much to ask everyone (especially Lin Yujing) to have a meal together, right?”
“After dinner, it isn’t too much to go singing (with Lin Yujing) and play at the arcade (with Lin Yujing) before going home, right?”
In his pain, Jiang Qinghua could only step forward to socialize with the lady.
“Madam, can you make an exception for us…” Jiang Qinghua made use of his sadness and forced out a nasal tone. “Half of our class is here. This might be… our last meeting…”
“Bah!” The lady erupted. “Is that any way for you to talk? Are you cursing the patient, or are you doubting our hospital’s standards?”
“No, no, no…” Seeing that his sadness wasn’t working, Jiang Qinghua grabbed his ear and scratched the side of his face. “We’ll seize the time quickly head in together. We definitely won’t disturb the other patients. Do you think that could work?”
“Stop talking, little lad. Come earlier tomorrow,” the lady said as she waved her hand.
“Can you please…”
“That is the rule.” The lady straightened her face and started to ignore Jiang Qinghua.
At the same time, music started to play from the speakers in the ward. It signaled that visiting hours were over and that family members should leave.
Amidst the collective sighs, a female doctor with a ponytail suddenly appeared in the corridor and ran toward them. It was a jarring sight.
The lady quickly stood up and asked, “What’s going on, Wenyue?”
Cheng Wenyue ran as she spoke. “Mrs. Zhou, Mrs. Zhou, these kids are the classmates of Department Head Li’s son…”
“Department Head Li Yi?” The lady quickly turned to look at Jiang Qinghua. She instinctively felt that his face didn’t look like Li Yi’s.
“Yes, yes, yes.” Cheng Wenyue arrived and stood in front of them. Her vision got blurrier the more she looked at the bunch of students. “Where’s Li Zheng? Didn’t he come?”
Whoosh.
The students all turned to look at Li Zheng 2.0.
Li Zheng’s eyes widened, and he almost cursed.
“Cheng Wenyue!” he thought.
“I tried so bitterly to hide it.”
“Didn’t I say to not make a big deal out of it?”
“Do you not want to graduate?!”
At the same time, discussions and shocked exclamations rang out.
“It really is because of Li Zheng’s father.”
“I’ve never heard him talk about it.”
“F***, his straight-A genes really are hereditary.”
Cheng Wenyue only now noticed that the handsome boy was Li Zheng.
“Oh?” She lifted her glasses and walked over to Li Zheng. “Did you… get a girlfriend?”
Crack, crack, crack, crack…
Over to the side, Jiang Qinghua was crushed once again.
“Don’t you have any tact?” Li Zheng lowered his voice and scolded, “Consider your student license forfeit.”
“Haha!” Cheng Wenyue grabbed Li Zheng and pulled him toward the lady at the entrance. “It’s him.”
The lady was welcoming. “He’s a fine man just like Department Head Li,” she said, nodding continuously.
She then said to the rest of the students, “You guys should go in and leave quickly. Don’t disturb the other patients.”
Thus, Cheng Wenyue grabbed Li Zheng and walked in front while the rest of the students followed behind them.
“Hehe.” Cheng Wenyue rubbed Li Zheng’s puffy hair and said, “I helped you a lot, didn’t I? Do you feel more reputable?”
“Don’t touch my hair.” Li Zheng struggled.
“Hehe, you sure care about it,” Cheng Wenyue said as she turned around and scanned the group. She locked in on Zhang Xiaoke immediately, then laughed as she leaned into Li Zheng’s ear. “You guys are even wearing a couple’s outfit. Don’t you have any shame?”
“Hehe.” Li Zheng couldn’t be bothered to argue with her. Instead, he smirked and said, “I remember you’re approaching 28. Do you want a present? Your student license or a boyfriend?”
“Hey, don’t be that harsh.” Cheng Wenyue’s expression became sorrowful.
“An evil person has to be dealt with by an evil person,” Li Zheng replied.
Even though the students behind were respectfully quiet, they all had their evil thoughts.
Zhang Xiaoke thought, “There really is more to him than I thought!”
Jiang Qinghua thought, “Crack, crack, crack, crack…”
Liu Xin thought, “There’s hope for my father’s piles.”
Lin Yujing thought, “Achoo!!!”
