Chapter 319: Farsia Kingdom (2)
“This is bad.”
“Ugh, Jon, how can we go through this?”
“There’s no path here!”
“This is worse than a mountain!”
It was a rocky mountain with no visible grass; it was also so steep that it was hard to climb.
The path to the Farsia Kingdom was treacherous. Hundreds of meters of rocks formed a natural barricade around the kingdom and many monsters and predators roamed the uninhabited area of this land.
“Sam, what can you see?”
One of the soldiers, Hector, asked Sam who was looking through binoculars. He was looking at a small narrow road that was made right through the cliff.
“Look at the corner. It’s there.”
“That? Isn’t that just a rock?”
“No, that’s a trap. It will fall if we hit a certain point.”
The path was so narrow that there was no going back. There was no way to avoid the trap either. The soldiers then decided to stay still. These were the scouts who were checking through the area first before the army advanced.
‘It’s cold now.’
It was almost winter.
“Captain, we should fall back now. It will rain.”
Hector nodded at Ron’s advice. Ron was a Halfnos, born from a human mother and an Ainos father. He had an especially good sense of smell and was able to tell if the air had the scent of rain.
“We’ll fall back to the shelter.”
After running back for twenty minutes, the scouts arrived at a space between some rocks.
“It’s raining!”
“Welcome back.”
As the scouts returned to the shelter, they were greeted by the other soldiers of the scout squadron. There were a total of thirty-five soldiers. They all settled in and began to eat the dinner that consisted of hot soup and dry bread.
“Report.”
“Yes, sir. Our forces have sent us a present.”
One of the soldiers who remained behind pointed at a corner.
‘Huh?’
Hector became confused.
“What is that?”
“It’s an RPG, sir.”
“RPG?”
“Yes, sir. We are ordered to destroy our way in to get rid of any possible traps.”
“Huh? What about the road?”
Hector was surprised at the order.
“We were told that we will make the way as we go through.”
“Make the way?”
“The Magnos and the construction battalion are coming through to create a way in.”
Hector nodded. This was not something any kingdom could think of doing, but it was the way of the Empire.
“Good.”
“Yes, it will be safer with this method.”
Hector then finished his dinner, feeling relieved.
