Wu Xuehan shouted in joy when she saw Tang Li reacting that way. It was as if she was enjoying the sight of the wonders of the world.
She was rather excited and curious.
She sat closer to Tang Li and remarked in surprise, “Now, you’re no longer expressionless when I sing! You had asked me to get lost when I sang you a song called ‘Green Onion’. I was sad for a long time.”
“Did I?” Tang Li did not remember the details very well because it had been such a long time.
Wu Xuehan nodded vigorously, her face flushed. “You even threw away two of my green onions from the balcony!”
Tang Li was speechless.
Now, she remembered everything.
It happened when they had just started college.
She had returned to the college from Li Villa. Suddenly, Wu Xuehan had jumped out from behind the door, holding two green onions in both of her hands.
She did not enjoy her life very much in Li Villa during the weekend.
So, she interrupted Wu Xuehan. “Keep quiet!”
Wu Xuehan kept quiet.
When Wu Xuehan went back to her bed, Tang Li found the green onions disgusting so she had thrown it down the balcony.
Tang Li explained herself immediately when they started talking about the past. “I didn’t ask you to get lost. I just want to be left alone.”
She stopped talking for a while.
Then, she tilted her head and looked at Wu Xuehan. “But, I need to apologize to you. If I ever did anything bad, I hope that you won’t mind. Thank you for your message too.”
In her former life, she did not manage to read the messages when she was sent to the eastern suburbs.
Everything was different when she came back to college again.
What happened now was beyond Wu Xuehan’s expectations.
She touched the back of her neck and replied sheepishly, “I was just joking with you.”
“I know.” Tang Li smiled softly. “But, I need to explain myself too.”
Wu Xuehan looked at Tang Li with her bright eyes. She was hesitant for a few seconds. Then, she spoke again, “Tang Li, I find that you’re different now after you have returned from your home.”
Based on what she knew, Tang Li had always appeared timid and shy.
That was why the girls in their class did not like Tang Li very much.
“But, it’s better when you’re like this.” Wu Xuehan bit her lower lip and her dimples appeared. “You were too quiet before and you rarely bothered about me. I couldn’t find anyone to mess around with me in the hostel.”
Their college was a cheap college. But, there were quite a lot of people who registered themselves to the college because it was an arts college and some graduates had even managed to make a debut.
Both Yu Sui and Jiang Yining were local people and they shared the same hostel with them.
One’s father was the general manager of a bank while another’s father was an executive of an international company.
Their similar backgrounds made them best friends. Naturally, they looked down on Tang Li and Wu Xuehan as Wu Xuehan grew up in a village in Hu Nan.
They could hear the other girls’ voices outside the door.
The door of the hostel was pushed open.
It was Yu Sui and Jiang Yining.
They were laughing and talking with each other. But, they froze the minute they saw Tang Li.
Wu Xuehan asked them, “You’re back?”
No one responded.
Jiang Yining nudged Yu Sui secretly.
Tang Li put the cardigan on the bed. Then, she got up. “I need to go to the washroom.”
Wu Xuehan was the only one left in the hostel when Tang Li was back.
“The third and fourth period of the morning session is Linear Algebra class. They need to go earlier to get their seats. So, they said they won’t wait for us.”
Tang Li knew very well. They just did not want to wait for her.
Everyone turned their attention to Tang Li when she appeared with Wu Xuehan in the class. It was because of her blue greyish hair color.
Suddenly, a boy whistled.
Soon, everybody giggled.
A weird student who liked to keep to herself was always the laughing stock in class.
That was Tang Li’s existence now.
