Terrarium Adventure - Chapter 21
“Main?”
What main? It’s not an idol group so why do I need a main character? Main person?
“The main character to be used. There should be a leader who controls the battle. It should be me. I’m your first Driard.”
“Why is the main character being discussed here? What character? Personality?”
What character? Did I hear character as personality?
“Jay, character is a Driard’s inside joke. They think they are characters inside a game. To be exact, it’s like having a team. Elder, you should use the correct term.”
“So, who will be in charge?”
Elder was pushing me to choose him as he was confident it would be him. I just looked at Elder and imagined Elder being the main.
If Elder is in charge, will he be named Elderly? Haha. How funny. Elder interpreted my laugh as being positive, saying, “It’s me.”
“Why should you be in charge?”
“An outstanding recovery type Driard like me can make the team stable. If you choose me, the skill will improve as I can focus on recovery skills.”
“Jay, kid Elder is asking you to choose the team’s leader. It means choosing a Driard who will closely connect with your soul. When there are more than two Driards, it is good to choose one for the team’s structure. When there is a battle, it means the Driard who is chosen as the leader will be receiving your order.”
Does it mean to choose a representative hero? Sometimes, when I choose a representative hero in a game, there is an extra benefit received as a team due to the hero’s special effect.
Based on what Elder was saying, when recovery type Elder becomes the representative hero, the team’s recovery value will increase.
Anyway, I have all kinds of Driard characteristics. Defensive, recovery, and attack types. I should focus on one type for the battle. It will be an attack-focused team or a defense-safety team or a stable yet conventional healing team. I should think carefully.
Mesquite, who is a defense type, looked to be the most experienced out of Driards here and looked very stable. I looked at Mesquite and she showed her huge shield.
“I’m not interested in being the team leader, but if I become one, our team’s defense will increase.”
She was surely reliable.
Daisy, who is an attack-type, seemed less experienced but all resources would be allocated to her for strong attacks.
Mesquite was reliable, Daisy needed experience, and Elder looked pretty. And there was the least sensitive Driard out of all. Elder.
It would be painful to let Elder become the team leader as he was all over the place. Look. He is already confident thinking he’s the leader. I never said I would make him one.
“Daisy will be the leader. Of course, only near the village. When we are away from the village, it will be Mesquite.”
“What? Why isn’t it me?”
“I will give you diamonds, so when Daisy is hurt, recover her. Use many effects!”
Soon, he made an upset face so I convinced him with diamonds. I will give one diamond for one effect. Elder accepted immediately.
“Mesquite, are there weak fires near the village?”
Shouldn’t there be weak monsters near the village? I plan to invest in gaining experience for Daisy while staying in the village for a long time. I need to know how battles work and raise my level as I don’t know how difficult the quests will be.
“Hmm, there are weaker fires due to the tree’s force. Still, you shouldn’t underestimate the fire.”
After gaining basics from the beginner’s hunting place and moving to another hunting place, it can become risky so I will go safely by using Mesquite as the leader.
Now, I passed the fence to completely stay away from the village. Now, the safe zone is over.
As I was worried, there was no flame as soon as I came out of the village. Mesquite hoped she wouldn’t meet fire but I needed experience. The owner should put out some fire!
I was walking on a well-paved road and I became relaxed by the complete silence. What’s this? It’s childish! I began to talk as if I were on a stroll.
“What does fire look like?”
“Burning.”
Elder gave an effortless response.
Everyone knew that. Of course, fire burns everything up. He’s just upset because he is not the leader.
“Burning up?”
“Cute!”
Daisy replied. How cute. The fire is burning up. Daisy said the fire is burning up. Lovely.
“Jay, the fire looks like this.”
At that moment, Mesquite’s armor made a sound. Soon, she moved to block in front of me.
Oh! What does that famous fire look like? Daisy posed while taking out two knives from her waist.
Elder, who became serious after being upset, retreated back while dragging me away from behind Mesquite’s back.
The fire was burning as Elder said while burning up like Daisy’s comment.
However, it wasn’t a fire on a candle but it looked like… magma? Liquid? Slimy? Or a leech. I imagined a fire on a building but I lost my words when I saw a liquid blob big as my head was wriggling and spitting out fire.
Yes, that’s also a monster…. Anyone can tell it’s a monster.
A slug that looked like it just came out of its larva moved while burning everything. It changed its body size and released red flame from time to time.
“Thankfully, we met a small one. But be careful. It looks small but it still is a fire.”
“Such a size would disappear by pouring water.”
My comment made Elder laugh.
“That flame can’t be removed by water.”
“Right. Only Driards can remove the fire. My master, Jay. What will you do? Will you let Daisy take care of it?”
“I can do it!” Daisy shouted while looking at the fire.
“However, Driards can be eaten up by the fire. So, if she isn’t careful, she may become ash. Are you still not afraid?” Mesquite said as if warning Daisy. However, Daisy didn’t seem scared.
“I swear. I’m not worried about pain or death anymore!”
Daisy shouted clearly. At that moment, I felt a connection to Daisy.
It wasn’t me only who felt that so the other Driards were shivering.
It was the team leader setting. Daisy, the attack type, is the team leader. The Driards’ eyes were full of fighting spirit. Daisy’s team effect was increasing the fighting spirit.
Mesquite lifted her shield. A bright golden light appeared from the shield’s center surface until the end.
The light that covered the shield turned into sand and was absorbed underneath Daisy’s feet. The floor Daisy stood on looked like a circle-shaped desert.
Sand popped up like an angry wave. Although it looked risky, it was only for that moment.
“It will block attack damage up to 3 times. It takes time to apply the effect so you need to fight while dodging the attack much as possible,” Mesquite reminded Daisy. Daisy nodded while looking mysteriously at the sand pond waving under her feet.
I tapped Elder. Elder pouted, “Why?”
I was already far from Mesquite, but Elder was holding my shoulder as if I was going to pop out. I know myself so I wouldn’t do such an action.
“Do you have anything for Daisy? Apply some effect.”
“It’s too good for the little creature.”
“It’s the first battle for her so we need to do our best too!”
I felt like a parent sending off their kid to school for the first time and pushed Elder. Elder waved the scarf effortlessly at Daisy. A white light went to Daisy’s leg.
“You will become faster. This effect is the best for a small creature like you.”
I gave a compliment and gave diamonds to Elder. Then, Elder waved his scarf many times while looking happy.
Elder’s white leaves appeared for Daisy and disappeared afterward. He should have done it earlier. How good is it to be obedient?
Daisy took a deep breath and looked at the small flame. Mesquite pointed at the fire from afar while holding the lance.
“It would be best to kill it at once, but Daisy’s knife is still not sharp. What’s important is that it is bad for us if the battle drags on. We need to find ways that are best for Daisy. Hmm… if it’s hard to swallow at once, swallow multiple times.”
The last comment made Daisy look on with a mysterious face.
“It is concerning, but try it once. Of course, I won’t stand in front this time. It will be a better experience for you to challenge yourself rather than me explaining to you. Don’t back off even if you are afraid. You have useful supporters behind you. There is Jay who looks at you all the time.”
Daisy nodded her head and lowered her body.
As she leaped after putting force on her bent legs, she flew high like a rocket. I sensed Elder becoming nervous all of sudden behind my back while I looked impressed at Daisy.
Before Daisy entered the battle, she looked relaxed but now she seemed like a different person.
Daisy who flew high changed her body direction and poised her knife towards the fire.
